Due March 2008 - another teeny tiny thread for dial ups and mobiles

Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

Aaaah, that's better. Found some big pliers

TMP - glad to hear your scan showed all to be well. Hope everything goes well for you- take care. Pop back for a bacon butty anytime

imjin100 · 15/08/2007 12:00

jealous of bacon and OJ, infact jealous of anything. I am struggling to find a food stuff that stops the nausea at the moment, just tried a mug ofbovril which worked but only while i was drinking it - not sure I can drink it all day!

HolidaysQueen, hope you feel better soon. Have you tried icepops/ice lollies - I find they can work at some points - our freezer is full of them!

TMP, congrats on scan but sorry you're moving months. My scan is friday, i'm very excited.

TJuice · 15/08/2007 12:06

must be testimony to how unhealthy i was before but i have actually dropped a bit of weight recently. i think it must be due to not drinking because i am eating loads (although it is much more veggies etc as opposed to the hangover pizza and late night burgers lifestyle).
i was a little heavier than i wanted to be size 14 to start with. should i be concerned?

winemakesmummyclever · 15/08/2007 12:23

Imjin - sorry you're feeling so unwell. If it's any consolation, I was in pretty much the same state as you up until the last couple of days. Essentially lived off toast, chipsticks (mmm, very vinegary) and sips of coke for the last month or so. How healthy!? Hope you feel better soon.

derah · 15/08/2007 12:27

aw, now I want some OJ too but can't cos I'm at work (sulks)

winemakesmummyclever · 15/08/2007 12:35

Psst...

Don't let your boss see it

winemakesmummyclever · 15/08/2007 12:38

TJuice - I wouldn't be concerned. You sound to be eating much more healthily than many of us so far. Like you said, it's probably because you've changed your diet so much.

winemakesmummyclever · 15/08/2007 12:38

Anybody heard how ConnorTraceptive is btw?

MerlinsBeard · 15/08/2007 12:48

i was just wondering about CT

yardette · 15/08/2007 13:38

hi all
just checking in to say hi. Feeling less tired this week. Still no real ms at all - I refuse to be paranoid about it and just enjoy it!!
Devastatingly I thought my boobs had grown, but oh no, according to M&S they are still a 36B. But, I have bought some hideous no wire cotton bras so that I'm not cutting my boobs off with my usual underwired jobbies. Honestly, there is such a gap in the market for pretty bras during maternity....

My gums have been bleeding quite badly for a few weeks now so I'm going to go to the dentist to check everything out.

Eventually, I got my booking in appt through - 5th Sept when I'll be 13 weeks!!! My scan (dating plus nuchal all in one) is on 3rd Sept, so its scan before booking in for me. Found out that I have NO choice in my hospital to give birth, because the doctor made the choice for me . May complain about that, as he's put me down for a hospital 12 miles away (and I'm in London), when there is a perfectly good one less than 3 miles away .

Good luck to all of you, hope some of you start feeling better soon -not long to go now till 2nd trimester.

x

Hello everybody and welcome to the new people!
Sorry to hear about the various items of bad news too Thinking of those concerned.
Well, I thought I'd got away with not having any ms, but like HQ I've spent the past few days feeling rough. First thing in the morning is OK, but from 10am onwards I just feel nauseaous all the time. I don't feel like eating anything, although biscuits, crisps and any type of carbohydrate seem to be OK. Once I get started I can't stop though! Can't face any kind of vegetable or anything healthy for that matter! I bought some ginger snap biscuits this morning in the hope that they would help, but at this rate I'm going to be the size of a house by the time it's all over! Like others I'm finding that eating actually helps - can't spend the day eating though...
Felt really tired yesterday but better today. Fortunately I work from home so I can take breaks when I want and also slob around in yoga pants all day. I find I'm really bloated in the evenings too. Haven't bought any actual maternity wear yet, but I have bought two tunic tops which will do the job. I'll need to get some smarter trousers at some point though.
We're going to a wedding this Friday so I hope I don't feel too sick then.
I booked my private nuchal scan as my health authority won't pay for it. It's actually the day after my NHS dating scan, on 11 September. I decided to go to the Fetal Medicine Centre in London having heard good things about it from various people.
Oh well, better get on with some work and ginger snaps
Hope you're all having a good day.

derah · 15/08/2007 14:27

Thank you WMMC!!! But my bosses won't mind, it's just that we don't have any OJ here!

I checked on Connor's thread yesterday and she seems to be doing better. They're finally giving her some meds and I think she should be able to go home soon. Poor thing!!

derah · 15/08/2007 14:34

Ooops, just fell splat on the floor. I was getting a drink and the last choccie biccie when I slipped on some water next to the water cooler. On the way down I threw my water all over the floor and made even more or a slip hazard! Fell on my knees, and the floor is stone tile so it was rather painful - gonna have blue knees tomorrow! More tragically, the last choccie biscuit fell in the water and is now irretrievably soggy!

Hope beanie didn't mind the fall, but since she/he isn't in my knees, all should be well. You can't help but worry though, can you?

merryberry · 15/08/2007 14:35

OK, so had a bout of nausea again today - but I'm sure it was psycholgically induced, get this, I was in a bathroom showroom choosing stuff and there was a row of about 30 toilets. DS went up the row opening all the lids and telling me 'wee-wee' and as I looked at them all I could imagine was upchucking into one and I started feeling sick...

WinkyGirl · 15/08/2007 14:56

Hey everyone

I cannot eat veg either. The idea of broccoli makes me gag. The things I am finding easy to eat are bread and crisps. Drinking loads of fruit juice too though. My diet was poor at this stage with DD so am not too worried!

Is anyone else suffering with evening sickness? I cannot eat anything after 5.30pm or else I cannot lie down when I go to bed. Have spent many a night going to sleep sitting up in bed for an hour before the nausea subsides...

Derah I feel for you over the loss of the chocolate biscuit

preggersagain · 15/08/2007 14:59

i had an abnormal bout of throwing up this morning, walked into the kitchen with the kids to sort brekkie and threw up immediatly in a bowl of split peas that had been soaking overnight ooops!!!

I'm shattered and my boobs are still aching quite badly, i just want to get a date for my scan- i need to know how pregnant i am!

fitnforty · 15/08/2007 15:02

Had my first scan today and yay, it's all ok! Confirmed the EDD as 2 March (though I see on the photo it's still +/- 5 days so probably be born in April if it takes after its dad

Absolutely amazing to see all the limbs moving about, but the woman doing the scan was a real bugger -stonefaced throughout and gave no indication for the first few minutes if there was anything in there at all! Luckily she finished all the measuring-y bits quickly and gave us a run through of what we could see so we can explain it when someone hasn't a clue what they're looking at when they see the photo!
And I think at this stage it looks a bit like Mr Burns from the Simpsons

derah · 15/08/2007 15:23

Winky - I'm so happy someone appreciates my pain! I had to eat a nasty shortbread biccie instead of double choccie chip!

Sorry so many of you are feeling pukey. Luckily I don't feel too sick, but soooooooo tired I can barely function, and very hormonal and grumpy.

imjin100 · 15/08/2007 15:41

congrats fitnforty, stroppy woman but great news.
Derah, poor you, would someone go and buy more...when in doubt throw money at the problem!
Yardette has just made me realise I'm having my scan and I thought that was also checking in, or whatever its called, but perhaps not - any ideas anyone? Do i need to get a booking in appointment as well?
Preggers again, Im' laughing out loud at a bowl of split peas and ms....who soaks stuff when they are feeling like this....DH is lucky if he gets scrambled eggs for supper - no flash soaking nonsense - that's hard enough when I'm not pregnant!!

PinkMartini · 15/08/2007 16:33

Hello
I've not posted for ages, I'm suffering with sickness and never know WHAT I want to eat which is driving both DH and me mad.

DH sent me a link to that news story about pg women who eat junk being likely to have junk loving DCs, so trying to lay off the crap.

All I wanted last week was crisps and chocolate but now it's just toast and marmite. Skin is really bad too and I'm knackered. Just off to have a little sleep now.

I'll be relieved when I can tell work as I've been rather slack recently.

Derah at your biscuit.

How is everyone else? This thread moves so fast, I can't imagine how we're all going to keep up.

PurlyQueen · 15/08/2007 17:41

Hi Yardette. I have also had no ms and I'm feeling better than I have in the last few weeks. But I got so paranoid about this that I got very weepy this morning because I think I should be feeling worse. I am 8 weeks on Saturday and I have another scan the following Friday, so I'm trying (and failing) to keep calm until then ...

PurlyQueen · 15/08/2007 17:43

PS: I'm still sleeping for England. I've had a couple of lieu days off this week, so I can have a lunchtime nap. In fact, I could do with 40 winks now

winemakesmummyclever · 15/08/2007 18:27

Sleep?!?

Ds has been up at half five for the last two mornings .

Managed to stay up until 10 o clock last night - don't think I'll last that long tonight.

TJuice · 15/08/2007 18:28

i just went to my first proper doctor appt. i wish my danish was better because the whole thing is a bit jerky and difficult to understand.

but she was really nice. my boyfriend and i have to have some blood tests done because he is african-american with a slight sickle cell trait and i am half-jamaican sowe have to check that out.

also discussed weight. i am on the upper end of the normal bmi scale (right on the end actually!) so she thinks that a 10kg total gain would be nice to aim for. that is &*^! all! (1.6 stones or 22lbs). That's the thing with Denmark - everyone is so slim in copenhagen and women just look fantastic so quickly after having their babies. its not just yummy mummies - its bloody everyone.
afterwards i went out for rhubarb cake and hot chocolate then bought some clothes, because i just had that urge. i got my first maternity-type thing - a lovely fuschia pink organic cotton smocky dress from h&m. its nots actually maternity but i bought it roomy so that i can fill it up. i also bought some new trainers and hoodies because i am going to the gym a lot right now (i live in the same building and work part-time across the street so i have no excuse not to). its weird how sometimes you just get that urge just to buy something new. i think i need to fight it now because i am so crap with money and my lifestyle has to change. i keep looking at my shelves full of stilettos and thinking "ebay them, ebay them" . . .

merryberry · 15/08/2007 18:51

top sounds nice TJ. i'm miffed with fashion, cos here we go about to lose our waists, but proper, and what is the next trend? Teeny waists and bin the smocks. sigh
