Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

Glammarjaran - ohhh, miserable but take hold, don't let the midwife make this a sad time, it's a happy time, and I'm sure you can find a way to help yourself without feeling too deprived. Sorry it's looking bleak but try to stay positve...

on the underwire thing, thanks for the link. This seems to relate to the breastfeeding stage, is there a reason in advance of the baby appearing that we need to go soft....I like a few of the others on this site have the large side of huge in the boob area and soft cup stuff isn't usually very supportive...

TJuice, I would echo 3madboys...I went to the EPU and they were great. I think it's always worth doing as worry can't be good for anyone.

glammarjoram · 16/08/2007 16:05

sorry pregnancy & bra Teach me to be too hasty getting the pregnancy page off PC at work!

glammarjoram · 16/08/2007 16:18

tJUICE sorry I missed your post. Phone your midwife. Do they have EPUs in Copenhagen? Sending positive vibes to you. I had bleeding 2 weeks ago, proper scary fresh red blood. Turned out to be cervical erosion from too much rumpy pumpy. So, not all bleeding means the worst.

imjin100 · 16/08/2007 16:21

thanks for new link.

skidoodle · 16/08/2007 16:24

glam marjoram, you poor thing I hope the appointment was satisfactory otherwise - nice midwife, decent hospital etc.

My SIL lost a bunch of weight while she was pregnant, and even more since having the baby. She's thinner now than ever she was when I've known her. I don't think she found it as hard as regular dieting, so maybe it won't be as bad as you think. Soon we should be out of the woods with weird appetites and stuff and the need to eat sugar and carbs will abate. Well so I'm told anyway

imjin

AFAIK from my maternity bra days during pregnancy it's mainly just about comfort. Certainly we sold plenty of underwired maternity bras. But that was the US, so they probably have different ideas there.

My bra lady said I couldn't have underwire and when I asked why she wasn't clear. But as soon as I put on the sports bra I didn't care because my old bra was agony and the new one felt so good.

glammarjoram · 16/08/2007 16:59

My midwife is lovely, which only makes her advice/orders on dieting worse! I'm allowed Weightwatchers biscuits but the artificial sweetener and my current 3 week upset stomach is not a good combination. I'll be delivering at the Royal London so as far as overcrowded, underfunded Victorain inner city hospitals go it isn't too bad! I'll keep the same midwife during pregnancy but she only delivers home births
Rumours are abounding at work already at my baby bump. Crikey, what will I look like come March?

oops

winemakesmummyclever · 16/08/2007 17:05

Hi folks,

TJuice - Hope you are ok. I can only echo what others have said about the EPU. If that's not an option, then phone your doctor or either the gynae or maternity depts at your local hospital. It may not be anything serious, but it's best to get everything checked out. Above all, try to get a bit more rest and try not to worry too much.

I still haven't got an scan date yet. Have spoken to a m/w friend who says second babies usually don't get a scan until 16 weeks!! I can't wait that long Surely, that's too close to the anatomy scan at around 20 weeks? Plus, I really want to know my EDD (conceived in my first month off the pill, so not sure how much that may muck things up, if at all).

Enough moaning, I'm off to make ds's dinner so he can throw it all over the kitchen in appreciation of my culinary prowess

derah · 16/08/2007 19:40

Hello ladies

Tjuice - hope everything is OK. Finger and toes crossed....

WMMC - that doesn't sound right about not getting a scan until 16 weeks. There are lot of us on 2 or more babies here and I think we've all had the usual 12 weeks, if not earlier. Have you called your hospital or spoken to your mw?

glammarjoram - oh, about being put on a diet! If your mw only does home births, why don't you have one?

Speaking of home births, L&S, my friend had a home birth for her first baby, with an independent midwife, and it went really well for her. Her wonderful birth has inspired me to go for it this time around. If an independent mw isn't an option, speak to your NHS mw anyway - some of them are really pro-home birth (luckily mine is one of them) and should support you.

I got my scan date today, 4 Sept. It's still over 2 weeks away - wail!! I'm very of all of you who have had their scan already! But, since I get the nuchal scan with combined blood test at the same time, I guess I shouldn't complain. So excited - all seems more real now I have a scan date!

My boss told me today that everyone else at work has figured out I'm pg. Not sure if it's my bulging belly or staying away from the nasty chemicals. Oh well.... I guess they had to know sooner or later and everyone is being lovely about it.

Right, off to peel potatoes - cottage pie tonight... yum!!

3madboys · 16/08/2007 19:47

well i am on my fourth and with each preg i have had a scan between ten and twelve weeks, why should it make any diff if it is your first, second, third or even tenth baby

you still need to get a dating scan done to check that your dates are correct etc.

my scan is tomorrow morning at 9:50 i am really nervous, i know i wont sleep well tonight, but cant wait to see the little bean

frankerooney · 16/08/2007 19:49

Hello everyone, I haven't posted for a while. I'm 7wks+4days so due 31 March according to GP.

TMI warning: I had a little bit of brown discharge this morning so my mum banished me to bed for 2 days. Any ideas if there are more 'normal' phases to have spotting and am I at one of them? Do you think complete rest is a good idea, or would you carry on as normal and let nature take its course, whatever that may be?

I know I should be reassured if I've still got ms but I didn't have it much anyway and I can don't know if I'm just feeling sick with worry...

Sorry to post on a downer!

derah · 17/08/2007 08:49

Did everyone go to bed early lsat night? The thread was very quiet after 8pm! I went to bed at 9:30, had a pretty good sleep (but weird dreams again), but still feel wiped out this morning. Good thing it's Friday!

Frank - I'm not sure going to bed will help, but you should call your mw. Hope everything is OK.

hannahmary · 17/08/2007 10:32

Hi there! I think I'm due in March too...I say "think" as I was in Colombia when I had a scan at 8,4 weeks and they didn't really tell me anything except that the baby is fine, heard it's heart beat, had blood and urine tests done and I had a temp and a slight infection but they just said to drink lots of fresh juice and water?. I figured out the date at about March 5 2008. That would mean I'm at 11,4 weeks now then I think and have been having lots of problems getting hold of my GP to make an appointment. My partner is in Colombia getting frantic at me to get tests and scans and stuff done here and I'm calling at all moments and getting busy signals and messages about training. HELP.
I was feeling nausea in my entire body for months but now am feeling loads better (fingers crossed) and have tonnes of energy which is FAB as I have to get a million things done before October when Uni starts againI only seem to have put weight on at night when I feel really swollen up...is this normal?

preggersagain · 17/08/2007 10:40

morning ladies- welcome newbies!!

I am still feeling very queasy, but not actually throwing up now- felt all off balance when i got up this morning, fresh air helped though!

I got my intelligender test yesterday and took it this morning, now i'm not taking it as gospel truth but its a bit off fun and it deffo made me thnk!

The test says i'm having........................

A Boy , not what i was hoping for but never mind, next have some lovely boys clothes!! I'll have to wait until my 20 weeks scan to find out if its accurate or not!

I was day dreaming about having a girl so at least its made me think that it may well not be a girl!

skidoodle · 17/08/2007 10:42

derah - I didn't go to bed early, but I feeling pretty ropey, so just lying on the sofa and moaning softly well not quite

hannahmary - congratulations and welcome lucky you feeling energetic again, that's great. I don't know a lot about the NHS either, but things seem to take a while and insistence seems to work. The other mums here will have good advice on that I would think.

I'm 11 weeks and due on March 8th, so just around the same time as you.

frank - hope everything is ok with you

skidoodle · 17/08/2007 10:44

preggersagain

OMG I thought you had found out for reals when I first saw your post and I was so surprised they could tell so early.

I have no idea what an Intelligender test is, but it's probably right about 50% of the time I imagine, so that's not bad.

Jackstini · 17/08/2007 10:45

Hi all - thanks so much for all your support after my bad news and it is good to come on here and read about lots of thriving babies
Unfortunately read on another thread Lcy has also had an mmc and could probably do with some support too - here
www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=348&topicid=1367&threadid=372183&redir=348
Will keep popping on to read about all your scan results!

preggersagain · 17/08/2007 10:47

www.intelligender.com

it claims to be right 94% of the time but after some google-ing it seems far less than that! Boy results often turn out incorrect but girl ones tend to be fairly accurate

So i'm not painting the spare room blue just yet! it has done the world of good though to burst my 'pink' bubble, i'd convinced myself it was going to be a girl and now i've had to think about- oooh maybe it's a boy!

preggersagain · 17/08/2007 10:48

thanks jackstini- hope you are doing ok- being looked after and giving yourself time to get over what happened

skidoodle · 17/08/2007 11:18

thanks Jackstini

poor Lcy, sounds like she had an horrendous time at the EPU, she must have been terrified.

I hope you're doing OK and taking care of yourself.

winemakesmummyclever · 17/08/2007 11:36

Well, have decided that will call m/w on Monday to check the scan thing. Will be nearly 12 weeks then. Have re-read the screening info and it def says scans should be around 12 weeks. It's not just that I want to make sure everything is ok (have been having v bad dreams), but we're away on and off from September into October, and I don't want to have to wait until after then.

TJuice · 17/08/2007 11:36

gosh, hate to add to the bad news but it was for me this morning, I'm afraid.
lovely doctor was so sympathetic but no heartbeat today, only one week later. so i am about to go to the hospital now for the D&C.
Its weird, i feel like i jinxed it somehow . . .

anyway, best of luck with your pregnancies ladies, best wishes to all of you xxx

winemakesmummyclever · 17/08/2007 11:45

Jackstini - have just read Lcy's thread. It sounds like she's having an awful time . Hope that both of you and Lcy are being loved and well looked after. It's important for you to be able to talk about your babies and acknowledge your loss. Sending hugs and positive vibes to you and Lcy x.

winemakesmummyclever · 17/08/2007 11:49

TJuice - am so very sorry. Get plenty of rest and be good to yourself. Hope that you have plenty of people around you to help you get through this. Take care x.
