Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

I feel slightly guilty that ALL I can eat is vegetables. And fish. I obviously have an iron deficiency, as I keep having spinach. Spinach pizza, spinach and fish pie...Just as well I don't fancy the sweet stuff as I have already gained 11 pounds and I'm only 8+2!
Do really fancy oranges at the moment too...yum.

skidoodle · 15/08/2007 19:04

Hi everyone,

i seem to miss you all during the day. i should prob just log on at work, it's not like I'm getting much done.

WinkyGirl - yes I have evening sickness. I start to feel horrible somewhere around 5.30/6pm. I do eat after that though and usually by bedtime I feel OK.

PinkMartini - I can so identify with your lack of decisiveness over what to eat. we have the same problem most evenings:

me: you know we thought we were going to have curry for dinner tonight? well I don't want that now
DH: well what do you want?
me: I don't knooooooow
DH: $%*$(
me: maybe pizza... no, not pizza. maybe jambalaya... no, not that either... [you get the picture]

I went to the doctor today. I've put on 4lbs. This is not surprising as I'm currently eating shite food and doing precious little exercise other than cycling to and from work. It's quite a lot though in only about 5 weeks.

My doctor reckons I don't need to put on any weight other than the weight of the baby.

Still waiting to find out when my booking appt/scan will be.

skidoodle · 15/08/2007 19:08

hi turtle - yeah my only healthy thing is a special love for oranges and apples right now.

merryberry, I know what you mean, although at least we have a bunch of smock-like tops in the wardrobe that will look nice. We'll just have to proudly wear our last-season bellies

derah · 15/08/2007 19:55

Right, just had my first official bout of preggie brain. I went off to the local pool to join the aqua-natal class this evening, was very excited that I'd remembered the time and day correctly cos I could see preggie women waddling up the hill (which will be us before we know it!!). And then I realised I'd left my wallet at home so couldn't actually pay to go in! I did remember my 20p for the locker though! So I said "D'oh!" and drove home again.

derah · 15/08/2007 19:57

As for weight gain, my scales are now banned until well after baby is born. We have quite enough to worry about without being obsessed with weight too!

fitnforty · 15/08/2007 20:41

Simplybe.co.uk do some good larger size clothes if anyone wants to stave off buying maternity just yet! I got some smock tops from there a couple of weeks ago and was going to return them before I realised I'd "grow" into them.

Was feeling quite smug that I only weighed 1lb more this morning, but of course at the hospital I was weighed a) in clothes and shoes and b) with a full bladder which made 8lb difference!!! Luckily they measured me at 5cm taller too though (thank you flat trainers) so the BMI stayed the same. They kindly put that as "high" rather than morbidly obese

Yardette - completely agree on the bra front, it's so tricky getting anything to look decent that isn't underwired and can still manage to keep your boobs from hanging round your knees!
I got a sleep bra cos everything hurts so much when I get up in the morning after swinging free all night, but that one just rides up underneath and I end up not being able to breathe with it on

turtle23 · 15/08/2007 20:53

Those of you who have done this before...when exactly do your boobs stop being so painful? Having a 2 year old racing towards me for a cuddle every morning (I'm a nanny)just fills me with fear as she always manages to bash them!

skidoodle · 15/08/2007 21:06

turtle, i haven't done this before, but my boobs are already getting less tender. This may not be typical.

fitnforty, yardette - i've just given up on nice bras. I got two sports bras a while ago and I've been wearing them all the time. Even to bed because I was finding it too uncomfortable to be free and easy at night

actually although the sports bras I have are big and ugly, then do give very good support and give a reasonable silhouette.

merryberry · 16/08/2007 07:49

turtle, mine calmed mostly down at week 10. hurtling 2 year olds are never good news for them, but as the hormones calm down a bit and the placenta starts to tkae over more they do get better. xx

fitnforty · 16/08/2007 08:47

Another question for those who've been there before.... how often do you tend to increase in bra size and at what stage(s)? I've heard somewhere that it's up to 4 times and am cr@pping myself as I'm 42D already!

derah · 16/08/2007 09:12

It's wiggly 2yo's with pointy elbows that my poor boobs fear!!

I didn't needs many new bras last time, and I think most maternity bras are designed to expand a bit with you. I just bought some sports/maternity bras at the beginning (the Moving Comfort Daylite bra is amazing!) and then towards the end got some nursing bras.

Luckily my boobs haven't been too sore but I'm sure everyone's will start to feel better soon.

spugs · 16/08/2007 10:07

i went up from a aa cup (i know im completly flat chested ) to a b by about 19 weeks and then by full term i was a c was a d when milk came in which was brilliant but unfortunatly they are the first things to go when i lose weight

HolidaysQueen · 16/08/2007 10:41

Hi all -
I went to Bravissimo the other day to get a new bra as my boobs have already got bigger. I'm a 34H even when not pg so there is no choice for maternity bras for me - even Bravissimo only stock one that is likely to be big enough to see me through to birth/bf. The lady was very helpful though (they are great in there - I'd really recommend them if you are anything from D cup upwards) and suggested that instead of going for a non-underwired right away that she instead tried to find me a wired one that was less 'pinching' than the ones I have. So I now have a bra that doesn't have wires as high as most normal bras and is also made from a lovely soft jersey material so much better for my sore boobs. I think that will do me for a while and then as I get bigger I'll switch to non-underwired/sports bra , although I'm really really not looking forward to that as both I and DH love my boobs and I love flaunting them - they are my best asset by miles after all Sadly, shameless flaunting of one's cleavage is not really possible when wearing a granny bra
Also I seem to have found a bizarre cure for my ms - bowl of branflakes last thing before bed, bowl of branflakes first thing in the morning. Well, it's worked for 2 days now so must be a miracle cure

MerlinsBeard · 16/08/2007 10:44

i was just an A and only went to a B at the end, bought some C cups for when the milk came in but didn't need them for long. back to being just an A again although more fuller now than oranges in stockings

imjin100 · 16/08/2007 11:05

HolidaysQueen, you and I have something significant in common - our size, although sounds like you're braver than me about flaunting it!
Anyway - do you remember the make of the one you mention. Funnily enough I was just on bravissimo's site as they have a sale and I was looking at a few tops wondering if it is worth buying them. So far my boobs are growing faster than ever and if someone gives me a hug I can't believe they don't notice!
just eaten 3 chocolate biscuits and for once I can't blame it on MS as today I'm feeling fine. Just a bad habit as the biscuit tin at work lives right next to my desk....damn it!

merryberry · 16/08/2007 12:28

my boobs got bigger when first pg by 1 cup size, then again by by 23 weeks (also up from 40 to 42 as bump pushed everything up into my ribcage) then another cup size up when milk came in. so from C to E.

i've gone back to underwires recently as they are actually comfy this time round, but they are still quite grannified bras. Blooming marvellous has some good nursing ones btw.

Had a nice park morning today, had energy after a 9 hour sleep, and saw a couple of my all time fave local mums. One has her second baby already (6 mths) and the other is due hers this month/Sept. I'm hanging onto their every tip

HolidaysQueen · 16/08/2007 12:58

Hi Imjin - it was by Kalyani (something like that) and I got it in grey - also comes in black and maybe white or nude I think. It's very comfy.

PurlyQueen · 16/08/2007 13:01

Your breasts increase by up to 4 cup sizes?
Dear God - I'll be a K cup

skidoodle · 16/08/2007 14:26

PQ I think the average is more like 2 cup sizes plus at least one back size due to ribcage expansion. The sizes can get really big though. So it was when I used to fit maternity bras back in the day...

Wow, there are a lot of well-endowed women on this thread. I was extremely proud of my double Ds but now they seem kind of small by comparison. Although right now I'm wearing a 36E, fitted to get me through to about the halfway stage at least. I have a great bra lady that I love and she sorted me out.

3madboys · 16/08/2007 15:05

wow loads to read back

thankyou for the kind words about my bmc friend, she starts chemo immediately and things are sounding more positive, she has beaten this disease once before and WILL again

i am actually feeling a bit less tired today, so what have i done? run around catching up on housework

still a bit pukey but that too is a bit better scan tomorrow morning, i am nervous but excited and dp has managed to get the morning off work so he can come with me

with regards to boobs, mine are 34DD at the mo and they get huge as preg goes on, they were riddiculous with ds1, dp said i looked like a porn star

but they seems to settle down once bfeeding is established

weight gain etc, i have actually lost weight, just over half a stone, but i was the same with the boys, i think my metabolism speeds up

dp was reading the preg guide that i got with all the stuff from the midwife, and was amazed to discover that my blood has increased in volume by 40% already, he said i should look all bloated still at least he is showing interest in this preg, given that it is our fourth

TJuice · 16/08/2007 15:16

i am worried today as i seem to be bleeding. not just pinkish discharge but more like real period. not particularly crampy but i wish i knew what was going on in there.
i want my own personal scanning device so i can check myself daily......

3madboys · 16/08/2007 15:17

can you get in touch with a midwife or dr, there should be an early pregnancy unit at your hospital you can go to, they can scan you etc and give you some reassurance, fingers crossed for you xxxxxxx

LoveAndSqualor · 16/08/2007 15:18

Hi all, sorry I?ve been awol for so long ? very busy at work and about to go away for a few days so I?ve been frantically writing up interviews to run while I?m away .. Wonderful to read about everyone?s scans!

PurlyQueen ? huge congratulations ? what a fabulous surprise! Tjuice, welcome ? I know exactly what you mean about the urge to buy. Bought a couple of empire line-ish tops from French Connection with plenty of room to grow, but what I really need is some new jeans ? perhaps I?ll get normal ones but one size up, so they?ll come in handy post-baby .. On the bra front ? I?ve already gone up a cup size to a D and now appear to be spilling out of that ? Ignorant first-timer question ? why can?t you wear underwires when you?re pg?

Merryberry ? a very belated thank you for sharing about your bad experience ? the whole choosing a hospital thing feels like buying a house ? a huge decision taken on very little info! Am I insane to be considering the idea of a home birth for a first baby?

3MB, really sorry to hear about your friend. Fingers crossed for her.

Feeling constantly hungry still, and sort of generally soft and flabby and unlike myself, though all my clothes still pretty much fit, give or take (waistbands are starting to get a little snug). Totally with the if-I?m-not-eating-I-feel-sick crowd. WinkyGirl ? evenings are my trouble spot too. Need to eat early and not too much.

glammarjoram · 16/08/2007 15:26

Hello all,
I'm at work so got to be brief. Midwife has put me on a diet
Had my booking appointment today and my BMI is 42 I'm nearly 50% fat. There would be a red traffic light on me if I was on the supermarket shelf. Feeling very miserable about it as I don't want to get any fatter but I don't want to deprive myself either.Might buy that Eat Yourself Thin cookbook. Also, midwife told me that I'm high risk for gestational diabetes as I'm 5 foot 2 and DP is 6 foot. My life is looking very bleak right now.
