@Puglover88 I've only done everything in the last week 😂 and I'm 36+3 (I think) so I really needed to get sorted! Even DH (who is the most laid back person) was getting a bit twitchy that we had nothing really done yet!

BBell2 · 02/08/2019 20:33

@Karigan195 ceap that you carry it, but so good that you got tested!

Its (apparently) StrepB awareness month and kits are on offer, I friend posted a link for £30 if anyone wanting. She had it herself and often talks about the testing.

@whisky well done, it's all over now, get that feet up!

My boss mentioned a candidate for my leave today, a chap based in India who hasn't been asked yet...really does sound like he will be in place for a handover in 5-6wks time, not! Not someone with a fantastic track record or mass of relavtn experience, a bit of a bullshiter by reputation, my peers will be well pleased if they have to pick up more slack :/

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 02/08/2019 20:33

@Karigan195 I haven't washed all of babies stuff 🙈 I use reusable nappies on dd and barely keep on top of washing already without adding in extra loads!

I had physio today for my back pain and nearly ended up in triage cos she was so concerned by the strength of my Braxton hicks 😂 I just assumed they were always that strong, didn't really have them the first time round.

BBell2 · 02/08/2019 20:36

Ignore my Strep B £30 test comment, it was July for the full discount , GBSS.org its £35 now.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/08/2019 21:17

Anyone else struggling to make sure they eat properly?

Karigan195 · 02/08/2019 21:51

@IVEgottheDECAF. I don’t actually know what happens next. Sent midwife a text to ask and haven’t had a reply yet

Florencenotflo · 02/08/2019 21:52

I've been grazing throughout the day @IVEgottheDECAF rather than wanting meals. I've really lost all enthusiasm for cooking too. Not helped by DH just saying 'whatever you want' when I ask him what he wants for dinner Hmm I don't fucking care, I wish he'd just eat at work and snack with me all night 😂

Florencenotflo · 02/08/2019 21:56

Just googled the nhs advice @Karigan195 and it's suggesting IV antibiotics while you are in labour. The risk of baby getting ill from it is 1 in 1750. If they did get ill from it they would have IV antibiotics. But go with what your midwife says when she replies!

challengeyourreality · 02/08/2019 22:01

@IVEgottheDECAF I'm trying my best to get get healthy meals in (and cook them) and to snack on fruit and veg but have a really small appetite and lots of aversions so end up starving at 10/11pm and having to chomp down a banana or weetabix so I don't feel like the baby will be hungry.

Puglover88 · 02/08/2019 22:07

@IVEgottheDECAF I was eating digestives smeared with Philadelphia at 3am this morning! 😬

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/08/2019 22:13

Ah im glad its not just me!

Stroan · 02/08/2019 22:17

I've been a bit quiet this week as I've been in the middle.of a massive meltdown over my blood sugars. Still really low to the point where I can't really get up. It's taken a few days to get anyone to take me seriously. I've been reading along though.

Sorry so many of us aren't sleeping, this bit is so rubbish for sleep. I keep waking up thinking that the ceiling is leaking onto my face. But no, it's just my own dribble.

@karigan195 are you worried about the strep B? Will your midwife accept the results from a private test?

I had it with DD, tested positive during a UTI swab. If my waters had broken, they wanted me in immediately to start IV antibiotics. I was induced so they started them at the same time as breaking my waters. Then they repeat it every four hours. Bit annoying and means more monitoring but not the end of the world. They typically want you to have given birth within 24 hours though, so sped up my induction with the drip.

My temperature spiked in labour and they didn't know why so automatically had to treat both of us for suspected GBS after birth. That was shit. DD had to have a cannula in her foot and was taken away every 12 hours for anti biotics. In the end, the tests showed that we didn't have an infection and I didn't even have GBS at the time of birth anyway.

Honestly it’s just yet another worry. I wanted a nice smile vbac and in the last few weeks I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, blood pressure has risen and now this. I just want him out and safe now

Stroan · 02/08/2019 23:12

Yeah, I get that. Felt totally the same and as though my birth was being taken out of my control completely. It's shit, and I'm sorry.

happydays00 · 02/08/2019 23:16

Gosh @Karigan195 you are not having an easy time of it!

@Stroan how are you??

I've been admitted tonight with suspected pre eclampsia. Bloody great!!! What a week this has been. On 24 hour observation now until they can ascertain what is going on and if it is pre eclampsia baby will be out within 24 hours.

Stroan · 02/08/2019 23:27

Oh @happydays00 what a worry! At least they are ready to move if you need them to. And you've had steroids already?

I'm not amazing tbh, but not a lot I can do just now. Like @karigan195 I'm also very ready for baby to be out and safe.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/08/2019 23:36

Oh no happydays sorry to hear that! How many weeks are you now?

Stroan i hope things start to improve now someone is in your corner

BBell2 · 03/08/2019 04:58

How you getting on @happydays00?

@IVEgottheDECAF my diet is now terrible, hate having actual meals and eating lots of sweets. Im usually a decent cook and I cant muster any ideas or energy at all. Forcing myself to have a good weekend.

iano · 03/08/2019 06:13

Hope you're ok @happydays00

kyles101 · 03/08/2019 07:32

Hope you're ok @happydays00

Feeling the dribble and cooking meh-ness pain. Hoping I'll improve once I finish work and I have a bit more energy, and don't have to get up at 6am.

@Karigan195 at least you know though, risks are really small but better to have the facts just in case.

Megan2018 · 03/08/2019 07:33

@happydays00 gosh, you are having a time of it aren’t you! It does sound like baby is ready to be here! Hope all ok.

@IVEgottheDECAF my diet is ridiculously healthy sadly due to the GD. I’d like to be eating crap but its one salad after another Sad

@Stroan sorry you are having such a rough time still too, that sounds awful. You must be so ready to have this baby now!!

@Karigan195 this is why I’m not sure about the strep b testing-be interested to hear how it impacts what they suggest now birth wise. I bet it would be positive for me too though! Hmmmm

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/08/2019 07:50

How are things this morning happydays?

boodles101 · 03/08/2019 07:54

Hope you are doing ok happydays

Puglover88 · 03/08/2019 08:00

@Stroan good to hear from you, just think you’re now one more day closer! Hope you’re doing ok!

@happydays00 how are you doing? I hope things are ok!

Karigan195 · 03/08/2019 09:11

@happydays00. Sorry to hear you’re having a hard time. I hope it’s not preeclampsia but if it is bubs is well cooked now so try not to worry too much. Hope all goes well.

@Stroan so sorry you’re having a rough time. We bit got this far though hey so statistically speaking we/bubs should be ok.
