I have a cheap little hand held. Got an electric expensive one ten years ago and never used it so I’ll see how it goes before I look at buying this time.

challengeyourreality · 01/08/2019 22:02

Still need a fair amount of things here too - pram, nappies and a babybox for the living room. And have great fantasies about having the house decorated in the next few weeks for her arrival.
That cake sounds lovely @BBell2 so kind.
Think I'll need to really start researching if cloth nappies are an option for me as I can't bare all the waste of disposables again. If only someone would set up a company to launder them for you! I know they had one here many years ago but imagine that was a thing now. Would be such an incentive.

I have the medela swing pump which worked well last time - I’ve just bought some new valves and tubing for it, and the new cup bit that attaches to boob as they’ve re-designed it to be flexible and it looks way more comfortable than the rigid set I had before.

I had a Hakka pump last time too but I could never get the hand of the suction with it. I’m probably too lazy and want to just sit and have something pump for me!

All that said, I’m not sure I’m going to pump as much as I did last time. Felt like I was either breastfeeding DD or pumping all day, which wasn’t the most fun.

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 22:27

Oof right ive bought this hakka pump set on a whim!
I'm feeling wild :D I think I just need to buy a cap now?

So it was £49.99, reduced to £35 and then if you use EXTRA30% you get another 30% off so got it for £28 inc delivery

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 22:40

Oh I think there is a cap so all good.

challengeyourreality · 01/08/2019 22:56

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri thank you for the tip re the flexible cups for the medela swing. Will get a new set for my own. Although I will add, I barely used my pump as it always seemed so much hassle when I could just conveniently used my boob and pumping takes so long in the beginning.

Ugh can’t sleep because my legs are aching so much! From hips to feet! Anyone else suffering from this?

Horrible night, I've barely slept a wink as my stomach is very painful. Not contraction painful but constant pain. Thank goodness I have a scan booked for this afternoon

Megan2018 · 02/08/2019 06:45

@Puglover88 yes I am finding it impossible to lie down now, my hips and legs really ache no matter what I do.

Sorry you slept badly too @challengeyourreality - do you have any idea what is causing the pain?

challengeyourreality · 02/08/2019 06:49

Embarrassing, but maybe trapped wind? Although it's really not going away so I can't be sure

kyles101 · 02/08/2019 06:51

@Whisky2014 apart from the fact I can't eat them 😂

kyles101 · 02/08/2019 06:57

Rather that should say I shouldn't eat them... I did have 3 and gave myself a high reading last night and this morning 🙄

boodles101 · 02/08/2019 07:06

Awful night sleep here too. Barely had any. My internet has decided to stop working too so I couldn't even watch anything decent. Great timing having no internet when I finish work today!

Whisky2014 · 02/08/2019 07:08

@kyles101 oh yes I see. Oh damn what a shame.
My grandad had diabetes and I remember once for Xmas I got him chocolate from Thornton specifically for diabetics.

Well, I'm up for my last 5.5 hours of work!
I am absolutely dreading seeing the response from my manager but it's good to know that in such a short space of time I'll be outta there and when I have my baby I'm sure I'll wonder why I ever worried about anything else!

@Puglover88 yep I have this too and actually this morning my left buttock and hip are pretty sore.
Doesn't help my back is still recovering from me throwing it out testing my tens machine!
What a shambles :D

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/08/2019 07:19

Since baby has gone so low down the pain in my pubic bone is ridiculous. It is just like the pain i had during my last birth where i had a back to back baby attempting to get through my bloody pelvis! At least this one is the right way around and already down the before labour i suppose!

I woke up a couple of times and felt like something was trickling, but i went to the loo and was nothing really there Confused Had cramping and back ache last night as well again, definitely thinking this may likely be an august baby

35+1

db92 · 02/08/2019 08:02

No sleep here either.

Hope today isn't to much of a struggle for everyone on such little sleep.

11 working days left and I just cannot wait to finish. Only 33+4 and feel done already.

Puglover88 · 02/08/2019 08:43

Sorry to hear everyone else struggled with sleep, but at least we’re not all suffering alone!

Yay to finishing work today @boodles101 and @Whisky2014! Hopefully the day goes quickly for you both.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 02/08/2019 08:45

Limited sleep here too. DD had a bit of a fever yesterday so I was up in the night to check on her. I’m also getting horrendous hot flashes at night, must be what the menopause feels likeConfused. Had the Dyson fan pointed on me all night and DH (usually hot) complained at the cold.

Trying to enjoy these last few weeks as much as possible though as this is likely our last baby and I know I’ll miss getting and being pregnant when it’s no longer an option!

13 working days left for me between now and 23rd. @db92 we’re due date buddies Smile

@challengeyourreality think these are the flexible shields for the swing (£14.99) https://www.medela.co.uk/breastfeeding/products/collecting/personalfit-flex-breast-shield.

Karigan195 · 02/08/2019 09:41

No sleep here either. DP apparently couldn’t sleep as I ‘breath loudly’ on my right hand side but for some reason my left arm really hurt last night so I kept going to my right. He then tosses around and wakes me up.

Not helped by baby feeling like he was trying to batter his way out my pelvis last night.

Then he had every alarm set for 6am! On snooze! Grrr

Moraxella · 02/08/2019 09:46

Ha no sleep here either so got up at half 2, had a cup of tea and started hand scrubbing the floors downstairs. Regretting that now.

Dyra · 02/08/2019 09:47

Sympathies to everyone who had a bad nights sleep. Sad Hopefully it'll get better before all our shouty small people arrive.

Fairly envious of everyone finishing work today. Still got 4 weeks to go.... 😭 It's only 7 shifts total, but it still feels so far away. 32+2 and so, so, so very done with it all now.

Lavellan · 02/08/2019 09:57

35+3 here, growth scan this morning put baby at 5 pounds 7oz.
(Somewhere around 30th percentile I think, but they don't actually say that, that's just me looking at the graph)

Baby is all up in me today, seem to be pushing my guts up and my bladder and public bone down at the same time. How are we gonna fit another two pounds of baby in there??

KnobJockey · 02/08/2019 10:44

Sorry to everyone who had a bad nights sleep- literally can't wait to have a good night's sleep!

So, been having a good amount of Braxton Hicks this morning, but not sure if I should be worried or not. Normally theyre really big, take your breath away types, that I struggle to talk through. Today, I've been having them more regular, but a lot smaller- small, uncomfortable tenses. I honestly thought they were meant to get stronger as time goes on. Anyone else experienced this?

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/08/2019 11:05

Omg i had such good intentions for the day but now i am near on ready for bed at 11am Sad

I need energy!
