Fetal medicine department just rang me and said they reviewed the Doppler scan I had on Saturday and everything looks perfect so I don't need to go again this afternoon. Great news that they are happy with everything, but now stuck in work for another 2 hours!

Karigan195 · 01/08/2019 15:15

Great news about the little ones though :)

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/08/2019 15:18

boodles i just wouldnt have let work know Grin

boodles101 · 01/08/2019 15:23

decaf I know, silly me opened my mouth before thinking!

kyles101 · 01/08/2019 15:26

Ha ha @boodles101 I do exactly the same!!

Experienced mothers - bounty seems to suggest that a car seat raincover is essential... thoughts? It won't be used on the pushchair frame, just in car and maybe carry to house, but I'm pretty weak and it's blooming heavy, will probs leave in car all the time.

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/08/2019 15:29

kyles i had one for one of my four and used once or twice ON the pram base, never otherwise. I am also weak and cannot carry baby in carseat.

boodles101 · 01/08/2019 15:35

kyles I never had a car seat rain cover and DS was born in January. Never even occurred to me to get one, I certainly never missed it.

kyles101 · 01/08/2019 15:40

I thought it seemed a bit OTT - just wanted to double check I wasn't missing anything!

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 15:41

@kyles101 haha! yes, I meant my "bit" lol.

I've actually run out if time to compile the next presentation. I knew this would happen But now I need to tell my manager. She will not be pleased. But I did try to tell her i didn't have time so she really shouldn't have ignored me! Spent my afternoon providing a handover finish at 5pm the tomorrow is 8 to 1.30

I'd say now have become pretty useless at work. The presentation and handover were my goals and I've done them. Now I've switched off!!

Puglover88 · 01/08/2019 15:45

@IVEgottheDECAF I’d say it’s about half essential and half luxury! A big cost that I’m still in two minds about are cloth nappies. I don’t want to fork out a couple of hundred quid on them only to not get on with them!

Puglover88 · 01/08/2019 15:45

@boodles101 that’s great news! That must be a big relief for you!

Karigan195 · 01/08/2019 15:47

@Whisky2014. You did tell them! You’ve done well getting as much done as you have. Time to think about you and bubba now :)

ColdCottage · 01/08/2019 16:57

Just looked out at the washing on the line and was reminded of when I hung up my husbands massive load of boxers in alternate colours as I had time and liked how they looked on the line 😂😂😂

This was pre children and when I was off work for a while.

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/08/2019 18:17

Argh i seriously need to do a load of baby washing

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/08/2019 18:20

Oh and i chased my mat allowance claim this morning, apparently you have to request your payslips are returned and i hadnt. Been told will be atleast 2 weeks until my claim is looked at as they are still doing forms from mid June and mine was recieved 3rd july. Great.

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 20:12

Oh god I only put my form away a few weeks ago! Eek

BBell2 · 01/08/2019 20:42

@Whisky2014 all over tommorrow! Your boss has been a tool about this, good for you getting through today and your handover it's hard enough.

I moved roles today, got mega sweaty moving all my stuff, crawling on the floor redoing cables. A new girl ive never even met came to my rescue to help, what a legend!

My old team gave me a card, flowers, baby gift and my colleague made the most amazing baby cake. It was unbelievable, honestly the girl should be on bake off, it was beautifull like a little pink and blue wedding cake. It was so unexpected I thought I was pushing my luck going to cake time! Told my old boss I'm now getting scanned fortnightly and it took 3hrs yesterday- he looked a little relieved (was till super lovely about me going), good timing for me to move!

kyles101 · 01/08/2019 20:53

Dh apologised tonight with a box of milk tray 🤦‍♀️

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 20:56

Wow @bbell2 that's so lovely! Its really nice to know colleagues care about you.
Can't believe you were expected to move all your stuff though!!

I don't think I'll be getting anything. All my team are in a different city to me and the engineer I work with well..he's just not the type to sort anything I don't think.
I've only been there 6 months so wont expect anything. If I don't get too much wrath from my boss for not having this other presentation done then I'll feel I did well haha

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 20:57

@kyles101 bonus :)

IVEgottheDECAF · 01/08/2019 20:58

I dont think ill be getting anything either! I went off sick at 24 weeks then on to mat leave. Havent seen anyone for months!

Whisky2014 · 01/08/2019 21:14

Yeh I think if you're out of sight you're out of mind unfortunately. :(

So I'm just on John Lewis looking at breast pumps.. is a manual pump just going to be too much work? Is electric the way to go?
I'm wanting to breastfeed but going by my cousin and my best friends experience it seems they need a bit of a break

Florencenotflo · 01/08/2019 21:24

Ive bought a haakka pump @Whisky2014 not sure I've got the spelling right there. I've also got a manual tommee tippee one from when I had Dd. But I wasn't successful with breastfeeding last time. It took 10 days for my milk to start coming in, by that time Dd was pretty much sold on formula. I know you can get some pumps which are £££ but the hakka one was about £15.

easterbuns1 · 01/08/2019 21:34

When I struggled to bf my eldest I was able to borrow a hospital grade pump from the community midwives. I'm not going to shell out money for one this time until I know I need one. The haakka ones have great reviews for catching the let down on the other boob and occasional use so did debate getting one just in case as they are reasonably priced.

Feel like I've not commented for ages I have been trying to read and keep up with everyone's news though.

Megan2018 · 01/08/2019 21:42

I’m waiting to see how BF goes before buying a pump, I’m not that keen on the idea of pumping tbh-I might do combi-feeding instead if we want to add a few bottles. But we’ll see.

I think I’d investigate hiring a hospital grade pump if it is something I want to do though to make it quicker!
