I found it really helpful to have DD potty trained before DS was born. Just had her naked in the apartment we lived in at the time (wooden floors) for 2 days and she only ever had 2 pee accidents and after that always used the toilet. I think the key is when nappy is off, it's off for good. So they don't get confused about when a nappy is okay and when it isn't. Absolutely no treats to encourage. They will be proud enough of themselves that they have managed on the toilet. That is reward enough. Obviously not the way for everyone but for me it worked twice and I feel confident to try it again. The issue now is that our house rule is DS must sit to pee at home and stand to pee when out, but he likes to stand at home too... And I cannot bend to clean behind the seat anymore! Steam cleaner with long arm is coming into it's own here.

KnobJockey · 30/07/2019 11:44

Just woke up from my first 2 hour nap of the day- much easier to sleep when you have the bed to yourself! Totally winning with this working from home lark- must switch on the laptop now.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 30/07/2019 11:51

@KnobJockey that sounds absolutely dreamy! I’m WFH tomorrow so may end up doing similar...

@challengeyourreality that’s a similar approach to us this past weekend, DD was naked from the waist down for best part of three days and she nailed going on the potty with only one accident - by yesterday afternoon she was telling me when she needed to go and waiting until I got her there. Just hoping it continues at nursery!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 12:02

My eldest two (boys) would both happily wet/soil theirselves and not even be bothered about it!

I would love a two hour nap but sadly not going to happen as home alone with 4dc!

I have developed near constant fanny daggers in the past few days. Anyone else? Its awful when i walk. Keep having to sit down Blush

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 12:03

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri indeed, I remember I found out nursery had been putting DS in a nappy for nap time 'just in case' when he was long potty trained. I asked them to stop immediately and they were reluctant to do so until I really pressed upon them that it was unnecessary. Such a waste aswell.

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 12:05

@IVEgottheDECAF is that a sign that the head is engaged? I had it a few days last week but now not at all

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 12:06

Mw told me yesterday head is very low 3/5 in the pelvis so i think so yes, bloody sore!

KnobJockey · 30/07/2019 12:31

Sorry to be all focused on me today, but we've just had an email to say that our mortgage company have said we can go ahead with the purchase! Off to go sign our life away and pay the massive deposit this afternoon. I'm so relieved it's unbelievable.

KnobJockey · 30/07/2019 12:34

Decaf, that sounds so painful. Baby keeps popping in and out here still, not moving too low, but I've come to the decision that I will take the crippling crotch pain over not being able to breathe whenever I lay down- I hate that feeling so much.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 30/07/2019 12:43

@KnobJockey hooray!! Must be a massive weight off your shoulders

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 12:47

Brilliant news knobjockey! Grin

The crotch pain is making it hard to do anything! My entire body below waist hurts Sad

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 30/07/2019 12:59

Good luck @knobjockey!

Just catching up after spending the weekend at a festival. While I would have struggled in the intense heat, I'd have preferred it if it was less wet and muddy, typical British weather! Lugging a huge bump between stages in the mud wasn't massive amounts of fun, and despite the fact that it's been FINE for the last umpteen years, I can no longer sleep on the bed in our camper. Today I ache.

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 14:28

@KnobJockey that's great news, congratulations!

boodles101 · 30/07/2019 15:17

Congrats knobjockey

RonaldWeasley · 30/07/2019 16:38

Congrats @KnobJockey, well timed good news after you were feeling low about it. Enjoy celebrating!

Megan2018 · 30/07/2019 17:14

Great news @KnobJockey! We moved almost exactly a year ago- the stress has not yet left me!!

So 2 of my NCT group had their babies - one yesterday and one today. Only 3 of us to go now. I am last based on EDD and it feels like ages away! Currently only 33+5

Diabetes clinic tomorrow. I've had 13 readings over target in the last 4 weeks. I have no idea if that is good or bad?! The only bonus to getting the medication is that the induction will probably be earlier....but obviously I'd rather stay on diet control!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 18:06

Megan hopefully you wont be last one waiting!

I am starting to feel like this one might be a bit early. So much going on re fanny daggers, BH, cramping etc! Be quite happy if make 37 or 38 weeks!

34+5 today

Hsunshine · 30/07/2019 18:14

@Megan2018 were the NCT people early / late?
My NCT group has 9 mums in

TheCraicDealer · 30/07/2019 18:23

How is everyone getting referred for growth scans? Are they done in some trusts as standard? Not a whiff of one here even though I've been measuring along the 90-95 centile the whole way.

I'm still doing ok physically but definitely slowing down now. My feet were pretty swollen yesterday, along with my pudgy hands. Then because my feet were swollen I convinced myself there was something wrong and got a wee stress headache Grin a chat to a midwife who reassured me I probably didn't have pre-eclampsia and a few pints of water sorted me out. DH also made me sit on the sofa and put a cold flannel on my head, bless him.

My mum had a scan today and she's been given the all clear from her throat cancer- there was a calcified lymph node detected on the last one they wanted to check out but they're happy enough it's nothing sinister. So relieved. I found out I was pregnant the day she was told about her treatment and how hard it was going to be, so it's been hanging over her a long time. Buzzing for her!

Megan2018 · 30/07/2019 18:32

@Hsunshine both slightly early (39 wks ish), 1 ELCS for breech and the other spontaneous birth. There’s only 5 inc me!

Stroan · 30/07/2019 18:32

Wonderful news @thecraicdealer you must all be so relieved.

I'm on a risk pathway that includes growth scans but otherwise I think any deviation from the percentile you are on would maybe trigger one? Or any other growth related risk factors that show up.
Frankly, I hate them. Cause of much anxiety and they got it SO wrong last time that I don't trust them and can't really handle the fact that they are being used to make important decisions about me. Everyone seems to think I should enjoy seeing the baby. But anyway....

Happy new home @knobjockey

We really are Stroan! Really does make you stop to count your blessings when something like this happens.

That makes sense- feels like every other post on the FB group is about growth scans and the nosy AF part of me would love to know how big she is compared to those vegetables on the pregnancy apps Grin but I know how inaccurate they can be and I'm lucky not have any risk factors that would trigger being referred for one automatically.

Am considering getting a pair of Birkenstocks now. Had DNephew's christening at the weekend and I couldn't get into any of my naice shoes! Had to wear flat sandals. Felt v underdressed until I saw DSis's BIL walk into the church looking like the builder from the Village People without the hard hat.

Whisky2014 · 30/07/2019 19:12

Oh how exciting @KnobJockey!! Lovely news :)

Puglover88 · 30/07/2019 19:14

@KnobJockey congrats on the new home! Lots of exciting times ahead for you!

@TheCraicDealer that’s great news about your mum, and what a huge relief for you. Your mum can enjoy her new grandchild now without any worry hanging over her!

Megan2018 · 30/07/2019 19:17

@TheCraicDealer I’m over 40 so automatically on a growth scan pathway here, and if I had’t been already would be on one now for the GD. I have to say the scans are lovely to have! But obvs if you don’t have any clinical need that is also good too!
