Oh and names. We just cannot decide on one. Does anyone find boys names much harder? DD has a top 10 name (we didn't know this) so want a much less popular name this time!

Megan2018 · 30/07/2019 06:52

@challengeyourreality I have bought a close caboo sling (2nd hand in case she hates it-loads for sale on ebay) to start us off then will try a sling library as we progress.

Megan2018 · 30/07/2019 06:53

We don’t have a definite name yet- my parents took over 3 weeks to name me after I was born so not sure in any hurry!

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 06:55

@happydays00 I have an ergo baby too, it was probably my best, certainly most used, baby purchase to date. I haven't tried a woven wrap before though but feel it will be cosier than the newborn insert of the ergo baby. I will have a look at the FreeRider if you recommend that, thank you.
I am having a girl so happy to share my boy name short list: Valentine, Samuel, Arend, Rainer/Rainier, Tobias, Otto, Emerson. Not sure what I would go for now, was set on Samuel but DH sadly wasn't a fan. I already have a Felix, a name I still cherish.

Florencenotflo · 30/07/2019 06:57

@challengeyourreality I've got an Ama wrap, a boba sling and a stokke one which is a more rigid sling which DH preferred using with dd.

I preferred the stretchy wraps which you tie. Someone up thread mentioned a sling library, worth seeing if there's one near you to try some out.

Exitstrategist · 30/07/2019 06:57

Have a close caboo sling this time. Had a sturdier one last time but never used it as the straps and buckles were too complicated.
Boys names are SO much harder!
Went to beach yesterday with my toddler and spent the day running around. Also had to walk a lot as no parking close by. Had the most horrendous pain under my bump after. Could hardly walk with it. Any ideas what it could be? Still had it last night- seems to be better this morning. I’m 32+ 2. Uncomplicated pregnancy thus far

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 06:57

@Megan2018 thank you for the tip, forgot about sling libraries too, definitely worth finding our nearest one

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 07:03

@Exitstrategist Can you call your midwife today and ask their advice about the pain? I occasionally have some light pain around my underbump if I do too much walking but I think a lot less than you describe. Usually my bump just feels really heavy and low with a light stretching pain around the edges of my pelvis (maybe ligaments? Sorry not sure if there are any there. Biology is not my subject) and when I sit the pain dissipates.

Stroan · 30/07/2019 07:18

@challengeyourreality I have (and loved) a close caboo, connecta (now integra I think) and a Tula. DH liked the babybjorn. We also got a wrap in our baby box.

I saw Caboo's in TK Maxx for £12 yesterday! Definitely wouldn't buy anything pricey without trying first, but most resell well anyway.

@happydays00 a date! Glad the consultant was helpful and you have a plan in place, how do you feel about it?

My blood sugars are still low and I still feel grotty with it. Like I'm about to get a migraine, but constantly. So weird. They've added me to the clinic list today at 9 so should hopefully get answers. I still can't keep my numbers high enough to legally drive which makes life a bit tricky.

Name wise - we are still very definite. It's the name we've always had, but we also had fairly strict criteria which cut the list down a lot! Irish (Scottish at a push), but recognisable/spellable, has to work with quite soft surname. I'm quite grateful for the criteria as there's so many lovely names that we'd never have picked.

It's taking longer to decide on the best order of middle names which are my maiden name and my Mum's maiden name. Poor kid is getting three surnames in there!

Feel grotty this morning. No sleep, actually made it to work in the office yesterday which means that I'm in so much pain today. Might sit and have a cry, just fed up of hurting now. Oh, now my nose has just started bleeding, yay.

KnobJockey · 30/07/2019 07:59

Still no names here. Still no bedroom, as still no new house. Boxes everywhere, half packed, for a house that we don't know if it's going to fall through. And the dog is moulting, so there's hair on literally everything. And the other house is so close to being finished with the renovation, but needs a good clean and finishing touches- the stuff I'm supposed to be doing, bit it hurts to drive there and I can't get up the stairs.

Pity party planned this morning.

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 08:10

Knobjockey BrewFlowers

We are 90% decided on our name. Boys names are harder, especially when its your fourth boy! Swear i could name 20 daughters easier than a son!

Still no baby clothes washed. Still no hospital bag packed. Although i did get my bag out yesterday and empty it so that is atleast some (tiny) progress!

I think i am going to hold off getting a carrier / sling for now. My only real reason i wanted one was incase i need to put dc4 in a pram but decided i will see how he gets on with the buggy board first. The buggy board is i think the last thing i really need to buy!

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 08:19

@KnobJockey sorry to read that you're having a hard time. Doesn't seem like the ideal set of circumstances. We also need to do a lot of work on the house before baby comes so it is visitor ready but budget is non existant so not sure how much will realistically get done.

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 08:27

We also have lots of things need doing to the house. Odd bits are getting done here and there. I had intended on painting everywhere during my mat leave. I reality i havent painted anywhere. My aim now is to get it as tidy as possible and hope for the best!

boodles101 · 30/07/2019 08:29

happydays no date yet but it's looking like it'll be last week of August some time. I'm hoping for the week before. For some reason I seem to just have this mental block over the numbers 37-38. It just seems forever away and I feel like I'm more likely to make it to 36 but not further.

We are set on names, girl has been named for a while now. Boy- I was just waiting on DH picking a decent middle name. He finally came up with something that I didn't hate. Still wouldn't be my choice but I just agreed to get it over with. Couldn't stand any of his other options so I went with the best of a bad bunch! No one will ever use the middle name anyway.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 30/07/2019 08:41

Morning all - sorry to hear some of you are feeling so uncomfortable and/or are having house or life woes to boot. I’m meeting my boss again today to discuss job dilemma.

Spent the weekend potty training DD. Felt like I was going absolutely stir crazy by the end of yesterday, but feel like we’ve made progress. Now it’s nursery’s issue for the next 4 days Confused. Fortunately they are raring and ready to go with it as a few others are in the same position. (Optimistically!) would be great to have it all sorted before baby arrives, although I appreciate she may regress.

I’ve told my current employer what my last day will be (23/08) - so 16 working days to go and I’ll be 36+4. Cannot wait! Dreaming of box sets and baking for a couple of weeks. In reality it won’t turn out like that, but I can dream.

Slings-wise, I have a close caboo wrap from DD which I loved for cosy newborn snuggles round the house. We had a Baby Bjorn One which I hated. PIL have really generously just bought us an Ergobaby omni 360 which I can’t wait to use!

Dyra · 30/07/2019 08:51

Also struggling to agree on a boy's name. Though, I get the feeling DH is starting to come around to my choice. Had a girl's name pretty much from the start which was DH's choice.

Poor you @KnobJockey. Feet up today. Forget everything else.

All these section dates starting to come through... Babies are on their way!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 08:51

Bridget i have just started some VERY laid back potty training with dc4. Doing a couple of weeks of pull ups and bribing on to potty then will try undies..... He starts school nursery after christmas so that gives us 5 months to crack it

Pastaalldaylong · 30/07/2019 09:13

Thanks seems growth scans are pretty common then.
Would you travel 3 hours by car away at 37 weeks pregnant for one night stay? It's a family event but I might just see how I feel. If I go should I take car seat, hospital bag etc.?

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 09:14

Pasta i wouldnt, but mainly because i couldnt cope in a car for that long! I would take your bag, carseat, notes etc

Megan2018 · 30/07/2019 09:29

@Pastaalldaylong I would probably go if I was feeling well - I've been having a really easy time so a long car journey would be ok for me I think (although that could change).

I would take everything though just in case, we're planning to keep the bags in the car permanently from 37 weeks!

Pastaalldaylong · 30/07/2019 09:36

I've been feeling fine in myself and car journeys arent really a problem for me. Hopefully as it's my first, there'll be plenty of time to drive back home if needed!

boodles101 · 30/07/2019 09:40

decaf I'm going to attempt another go at potty training with DS when I've finished work. He already uses potty at nursery but has stopped at home for some reason. Like you, I think a few days of bribery and then I'll attack it full force.

I've got a twin sling called a weego. I originally wasn't fussed about a sling but a friend who had twins a few months ago was done using hers and offered it up so thought it was worth a try. They seem to keep their value so I can just sell it on again once I'm done or if I don't like it.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 30/07/2019 09:59

@IVEgottheDECAF I imagine having older sibs would help DC4 get the hang of it? I’m expecting a lot of washing tonight post-nursery, hopefully not too much caked on!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/07/2019 10:04

I have found all my boys have taken ages to potty train. Dd practitically trained herself! Luckily we only have carpets in the bedrooms so that will help once we go for undies!
