Thanks all feel a bit more reassured. Hopefully I'll het an appointment date soon.

Megan2018 · 29/07/2019 17:30

We get the texts too @Florencenotflo but it does tell you which hospital (we also have several)!

Genius idea @Megan2018 it really is, especially if you're like me and put letters somewhere safe and then forget!

MrsCatKins · 29/07/2019 18:27

I've just had an Obstetrician appointment at 34+2 and we have agreed I'll be having a csection! If anyone remembers me posting before it was due to my concerns regarding my recent surgery...in that area. She sent off the form and said it would be at 39 weeks, so I'm waiting to hear a date! If my 39 weeks falls on a Saturday do you think they will give me the Monday/Tuesday just after or go a day earlier on the Friday when I'd be 38+6?

Whisky2014 · 29/07/2019 18:55

@happydays00 I've not lost any plug ever! Maybe you will go early!!

I've not had any growth scans? Just a tape measure over my bump Confused

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/07/2019 19:00

Ive never lost any plug (that i have seen) in any pregnancy either Whisky

Only had one growth scan in my fourth pregnancy and keep getting threatened with them this time

iano · 29/07/2019 19:04

Quick question for those who've had a previous vaginal birth:
Did you have the injection to get the placenta out or did you wait?
I have to do my birth plan early as my MW is going away for a few weeks. I can't really get my head around the benefits/disadvantages of either.
@MrsCatKins sounds really sensible. I can't see why you can't do that.

iano · 29/07/2019 19:10

@happydays00 I lost some of my plug at 34 weeks or so with my first. He was a week late so I don't think it necessarily means baby will come early. Apparently it can 'regrow'

How's everyone getting on with name choices? We're struggling to come up with something Confused

kyles101 · 29/07/2019 19:13

Caved into dh nagging for a kfc... 😬

Stroan · 29/07/2019 19:19

@mrscatkins glad you have a plan. I think you can always ask about the Friday. Mine is at 39+1, 39 exactly is a Wednesday which is a protected list but was already full and they wouldn't do it at 38+6 for some reason. I guess they have to balance up the other people on the list who may be a day or two ahead.

@happydays00 how did it go with the consultant? I haven't lost any plug either but it would make sense that the extra pressure could affect it.

@MrsCatKins that’s great that you have a plan in place! Hopefully if they do have to do it a little before or after, they’ll consult you first 🙂

happydays00 · 29/07/2019 20:59

Well the consultant was concerned about the strength of my contractions so I had to be examined to check I wasn't in labour. Naturally my body started to leak plug / watery discharge as soon as they started to examine me so then I had to have that tested to check if it was my waters. Sitting with a speculum in whilst having contractions is not something I want to do again ever.

Because of all of this and my ever increasing risk of pre term labour / cord prolapse they have bought my c section forwards to 36 + 4 (15 August) which is two weeks on Thursday 😬😬😬😬 feeling very real now!

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/07/2019 21:12

Omg happydays! Thats so soon! Wonder if anyone else will sneak in before then!

kyles101 · 29/07/2019 21:36

7.0 - phew!!

Florencenotflo · 29/07/2019 21:52

We're struggling too @iano there aren't any names that either of us really love. Well, actually I like Lily, DH wasn't keen but has mentioned it since so he may be coming round. But I kind of discounted it after his initial reaction to it was a definite no!

We know we're having a girl, so far we have; Lily (middle name Sophia), Poppy, Faye, Harper (DH's choice), Molly and Lottie.

I like quite classic names, Dd is an Evie and we didn't realise how popular that was! So although I would prefer a less common name, DD's is extremely popular at the moment so I don't really care!

Florencenotflo · 29/07/2019 21:54

I think they try and avoid weekends @MrsCatKins so would push you into the following week possibly?

Wow @happydays00 are you ready!! It's so exciting!

Florencenotflo · 29/07/2019 21:56

I lost my plug with dd. We'd been for a 4 mile Walk following a sweep that morning. Not surprising it went really. I remember going for a wee, wiping and it being there on the tissue. Rank, gross and so exciting all in one 😂

BBell2 · 29/07/2019 22:13

@Pastaalldaylong we get them for too hig baby, too little baby, for me it's too little baby last time, my mate is too big baby last time and both of us are somewhere in the middle this time! It's just a reassurance for unreliable measurement or good tracking if the baby isnt quite growing as expected.

@florencenotflo I got the same type of message! Went for me scan, came home and got a call saying I needed to come back urgently for the consultant appt. I had missed - literally the first I heard of it! Nothing on the text, online or 2 letters about another dept and no one in xray said. Ended up a waste of a day as the consultant was no where to be found later on.

BBell2 · 29/07/2019 22:19

@iano I had the jab, I thought the intense bleeding risk was higher if left naturally, but after giving birth it was a drop in the ocean and I was glad to get it over with (needed more gas and air for the removal).

@happydays00 that feels so soon! Enjoy the next few days, so exciting! Xx

KLane · 29/07/2019 22:30

@iano My plan last time was to not have the jab, as some of it can get left behind with it. However it still wasn’t coming after 45 minutes so I ended up getting the injection. This time I’m going to get it, as I felt it wasted a lot of precious time in that first hour with the midwives fretting about it.

Megan2018 · 29/07/2019 22:51

I am planning to have the jab, it is one of the few things in my birth plan. I didn’t like the idea of leaving it for ages, I just want it done!
I’m happy for them to delay cutting the cord though to get as much blood back to the baby. But after that the placenta can just go.

Fortheloveofscience · 29/07/2019 23:35

Having done some reading, I don’t really like the idea of the potential side effects of the jab. If there’s any reason to think I might be at higher risk of a bleed then I want it but otherwise I’m planning to see if it just comes away.

challengeyourreality · 30/07/2019 06:24

I got the jab after a VB but I didn't know I had a choice to not get it and the labour was so long I just accepted everything without questioning it.
Is anyone considering a sling? What ones are good quality that are not eye wateringly expensive? I love the Artipoppe (good marketing) but is it worth the money?

boodles101 · 30/07/2019 06:26

Wow happydays that's so soon. 36+4 is my ideal time if I could chose a date. Make sure you get some rest in between now and then.

I had the jab last time but I had an assisted delivery in theatre and that's just what they did. I think I would have opted for it had it been unassisted but can't really remember now. Think by that point I would just want it over with!

happydays00 · 30/07/2019 06:36

@boodles101 have they set your date yet?

@challengeyourreality I've got two slings from DD - a wrap (think it's a FreeRider) and then an Ergo 360 which I used when she was a few weeks old.

No, we're not really ready to have the baby here yet. Currently decorating DDs room (she's in the baby's room still) and it will be to the wire to get it done. But.... I figure the baby will be in with us for a bit so it's all fine really. I think we have everything we actually need for the baby and that's the main thing!

@Stroan how are you and your blood sugar levels doing? Is it this week or next you see the consultant?
