Mine's head down but mainly back to back or occasionally kicking on the left.
My last was back to back so I'm desperately trying to shift him. I've found the spinning babies website quite interesting although it's also a bit terrifying...

Florencenotflo · 28/07/2019 19:32

Baby has been head down here since 20 weeks scan and very low since about 28 weeks. I'm not sure which way she's laying, even the mw last week couldn't tell for sure when looking for her heart beat.

I've got a scan with foetal medicine on Tuesday and consultant straight after. Baby's head measurement has been off the chart in my last 2 scans, all other measurements have been around 50th centile. They aren't necessarily concerned that anything is wrong, all the brain structures looked perfect, and it could just be a rouge result because of how low down baby is. But they are worried about me going for a VBAC if baby's head is rather large and the potential of increased risk of rupture. So after Tuesday I should know if we are VBAC or elective.

On another interesting topic... has anyone found decent hospital pyjamas? I've looked everywhere. I don't want shorts, I want dark colours, button up top would be a bonus but not essential. Oh and relatively cheap! Not asking a lot am I! 😂 It's not helping that I like my pyjamas on the bigger size so with a bit of a post pregnancy bump I'm going to need a size 20-22 I think. so far I've tried Asda, Tesco, M&S, next. Haven't tried primark as our local one is crappy to get to and park. But I may have to bite the bullet and go there next week.

Stroan · 28/07/2019 19:38

@florencenotflo I went to Primark on a similar mission last week, they have quite a few long button up tops, but not dark unfortunately. I got some anyway, along with some super cheap shirts because I remember the hospital being unbearably hot in November.

@Stroan I've seen a few button up tops/nighties but all with long sleeves! Which like you say, no good when the hospital is like a sauna anyway.

I might just have to use my current ones and prey they don't get ruined. I have about 4 comfy pairs of bottoms so I could pack 2, I usually wear them with vest tops. Currently struggling to find nursing vest tops in my size too. But I can buy some cheap ones and pull them up or down.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend, it's much cooler here which is a relief!

boodles101 · 28/07/2019 20:02

Florencenotflo good luck with the scan, let me know how the fetal medicine one differs from a normal one, I've got mine on Thursday. Also wondering how long it will take as it might clash with my DS nursery pick up!

kyles101 · 28/07/2019 20:04

@IVEgottheDECAF bless you - those aferpains sound like something for you to look forward to 😬

@Florencenotflo I'm a primani girl all that way for pjs. Shorts for me though, I hate anything round my legs. for post birth I'm just planning strappy tops and will be pulling down.

Florencenotflo · 28/07/2019 20:20

@boodles101 I'd never thought about it being any different! I guess it depends what they are looking at I suppose and if baby/babies cooperate!

@kyles101 I used to love primark but our local one closed and moved to a retail park. But during the summer holidays it's a nightmare to get in and out. You can honestly queue for the car park for 30 mins. Might have to get my bum into gear early on Friday and get there for when it opens.

Stroan · 28/07/2019 21:03

@florencenotflo I was about a 20 after having DD and found H&M nursing tops really good. It was 4 years ago so not sure if they sell the same ones but they were long so great for under shirts or shorter t-shirts. Hard to explain but they didn't lose their stretch so felt a bit like comfy shapewear! They were so good that I kept wearing them under tops or dresses until I got pregnant...

They came in a two pack. There's some on the website now but they don't look as long as mine.

Ooh thanks @Stroan I'll have a look!

Whisky2014 · 28/07/2019 23:12

@db92
I don't think I have actually had Braxton hicks Confused.

Is anyone experiencing cracking/squashing knees sounds and pain? I notice if I'm on the ground and try to get up, my knees actually sound like the cartilage is being broken down. I noticed to day theybwre now both very sore and I'm wondering if I have damaged them.

Also, I am getting pains right where my pubic area is..like an annoying pain as if someone is tugging at my pubes (sorry that's a horrible imagine but not sure How else to describe it :/)
Is that normal?!

Beeseeinya · 29/07/2019 00:28

I found some fairly nice nighties and PJs in Sainsburys. They go up to size 24 and have an online shop. A few button up. Light colours for summer... but cheapish. Got a couple in the sale for £7. I am really fussy about softness of material or I get very irritated.

Beeseeinya · 29/07/2019 00:31

@Whisky2014 I get those pubic pains. Sometimes they are nasty. I put it down to my PGP, pelvic bones grinding together down there.
I read that a pain like that can also be a varicose vein down there.. hope not, got enough wrong with me thank you!

Whisky2014 · 29/07/2019 07:02

@Beeseeinya oh god please not varicose veins!!

happydays00 · 29/07/2019 07:07

@boodles101 how is your rib / bump pain? Did you have a more comfortable night?

@Florencenotflo I had a Fetal medicine scan at 30 weeks - mine was a full structural check of baby. I can't remember how long the scan itself took but it was definitely longer than an average growth scan. I'd say I was in there for approx 45 minutes? I'm back on Wednesday morning for another scan there so will take note of how long it takes. @boodles101 sorry I can't remember when your Fetal medicine scan is so don't know if this will help!

I bought some pyjamas from Matalan but struggled to find the button up / bright colour / short sleeved combo too!

My DD was, inexplicably, awake at 4 times last night. At 4:30 she was demanding a wee, I forgot to put a nappy back on her and so she also then wet the bed. What a night 😩

I broke down and had a cry twice this weekend, my amniotic fluid has risen again, and the combination on that with how high the baby is sitting plus the contractions just made me lose it. My ribs feel like they're literally going to split open but I also feel this baby is simultaneously punching me in the cervix - maybe I'm growing Mr Stretch in there? Seeing the consultant later and strongly considering asking them to drain some of the excess fluid but this comes with a high chance of sending me into labour so just don't know what to do. 34 + 3 today I think.

Stroan · 29/07/2019 08:08

@happydays00 that all sounds so hard and you are.doing brilliantly to have coped with it for so long. Definitely discuss options with the consultant. Are they fairly understanding about how hard it has been?

OP posts:
boodles101 · 29/07/2019 08:32

happydays that sounds so painful. I didn't realise they could drain excess fluid but yeah sounds risky. I've still got the pains at night, I tried a different pregnancy pillow last night but it didn't help, so I guess this is just how it's going to be until they come out! My fetal medicine scan is this Thursday so of yours took around 45 mins, I'll double that and just have to take DS with me.

boodles101 · 29/07/2019 11:08

Well I definitely need to finish work now. Made 2 mistakes this morning and it's usually very rare for me to slip up at work. The lack of sleep is getting to me now and I just need to go off. That and the fact I've already mentally checked out. Just this afternoon, Thursday and Friday to get through.

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/07/2019 11:52

Oh well boodles i think everyone would agree you are doing amazing working so long while growing TWO babies! Definitely time for feet up now!

Mw app was fine, baby is in the position i suspected so thats good as hes the right way around. Head very very low in pelvis so growth chart now shows back on the 95th line instead of off somewhere above!

happydays00 · 29/07/2019 15:18

@boodles101 I think you've done bloody amazing to work as long as you have! I literally cannot imagine how physically hard it is carrying around two babies! Does your DS go to nursery or pre school? Ie will you be able to rest once you finish work this week?

@Stroan yes the consultant has been amazing actually, I really can't complain there. She was so nice to me last time I just cried though so I'm hoping not to repeat that today although I probably will! It's really not taking a lot to make me cry at the moment!

Is anyone else losing bits of their plug? Or have you done during this pregnancy? I've lost mine about 3 times I think (so assume it just regenerates). Lost more again this morning - am wondering if it's from the extra pressure or if all this extra fluid will indeed send me into pre term labour.

Pastaalldaylong · 29/07/2019 16:32

Hello all, how common are growth scans? I've been referred to one as I'm 32cm at 35 weeks and have gone from the top of the curve to the middle of the curve since last appointment. Just a bit worried now.

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/07/2019 16:34

Fairly common tbh

At my last mw app i was moving further above the 95th line and was told if that continued they would send me for a growth scan

Ive now been measured today and am on the 95th line, mw said likely due to babies head being so low but if i cross the line in 2 weeks theyll send me for a growth scan

Hsunshine · 29/07/2019 16:44

@Pastaalldaylong I’ve had 5 growth scans so far. I had similar problem, growth percentile dropped a lot a few times. I spent 6 weeks worrying and now it has steadied out which they said is good

boodles101 · 29/07/2019 16:48

happydays DS goes to nursery 2 days a week so I'll get a bit of rest from next week. Plus my mum helps out alot so I'm looking forward to putting my feet up! I dunno if it's my plug but I'm definitely getting more gloopy type discharge (sorry TMI) whereas before it was more watery.

Lavellan · 29/07/2019 17:19

At my NCT classes something like 6/8 of us had had a growth scan. Seems to be very common to get at least one if a measurement looks off.

Florencenotflo · 29/07/2019 17:22

I had growth scans through both pregnancies, seems quite common. Now, our hospital trust sends you text appointments which is great. It does however help if they tell you where it is (picture attached) 😂 there are 3 hospitals relatively local to me. I've had scans in all 3 and consultant appointments in 2 of them. No number to phone, not sure if it's an automated thing to rebook. Seeing the consultant tomorrow so I'll ask how I go about finding out where it is!
