@hsunshine you are doing the right thing. It's not about whether he has moved at all, but about whether his pattern and routine of movements has changed. And you are worried, so best to get some reassurance. they will understand.

I've been twice now, both times after zero movements for more than 12 hours. He's violently active all day long so any change feels very stark to me. The staff have always been lovely about it.

Hsunshine · 14/07/2019 00:59

Everything was ok. Typically as soon as I was hooked up he started moving non stop

Puglover88 · 14/07/2019 07:42

@Hsunshine glad it’s all ok! Don’t worry about going in if you’re worried, like the others said, they’d rather see you lots of times!

I’ve been in a few times also with reduced movement and it’s always the same with me as well, she starts kicking up a frenzy in there!

How many weeks are you? I’m 30 today and feel like my baby’s movements over the last week or so are different to how they were weeks 23-27 - they were more like little pokes then and now I’m feeling more pushes and rolls rather than every movement feeling like a kick.

BBell2 · 14/07/2019 08:16

@kyles101 I did a regular call every 6-8 weeks. Was invited to strategy events once a quarter. Read emails on my phone to keep up, only replied if it affected my return (confirming licences I needed, new phones and laptop stuff, our place likes to remove everything after non-use of a few months). In the quarter got project details, started to do some light research (I work in r&d). My only female colleague at the time told me not to, to turn the phone off and forget it - she was right, my boss didnt log anything as KIT (legal right, but you have to agree upfront what's classed as one when you are on an enhanced package, our terms say a days work), I ended up taking extra holidays for the bigger pieces of work when I just needed the cash. With hindsight I should have got organised in their time, I can bet IT issues would have been resolved quicker had I been prescent and not able to work.

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/07/2019 08:21

Glad all ok Hsunshine

32+3 here. Babies movements are strong, they make me change position when i suddenly get a foot in my ribs etc

Ive been really under the weather past couple of days, throwing up and just feeling drained. Feel a bit better this morning touch wood.

Megan2018 · 14/07/2019 08:28

I still struggle to feel movement at 31+3. At my growth scan I could see her moving but feel nothing.
I get very obvious external movement in the eve but during the day just the odd flutter, I have had the odd panic because when I’m busy I don’t notice these. I’ve just concluded that I’m not very observant/thick skinned!
But the 9pm stint always has sticking out bits of baby, if those stop I’ll definitely go in.

mmmmbopp · 14/07/2019 08:31

@Puglover88 I'm 32+2 and definitely felt a change in the type of movements after around 29 weeks - exactly as you describe, less poking and more rolls/waves.
Certainly makes the baby seem a lot bigger! The feet in the ribs is pretty painful at times and sometimes it feels like it's right round the side! But tbh I love it on the whole, it all seems a lot more real now Smile

Megan2018 · 14/07/2019 08:37

I’ve had nothing in the ribs which is weird, she’s got long legs so god knows where they are pointing! She’s head down so they must be somewhere.
I get mostly bum sticking out on my left.

Stroan · 14/07/2019 08:42

Good news @hsunshine always the way but so much better to be checked.

Feel better soon @ivegotthedecaf hold you are getting some rest over the weekend.

I'm starting to get visible feet sticking out. He's head down and bum right in the middle, with feet either side. He pokes them out and I can touch them! He hunkers down very low though, nowhere near my ribs yet thankfully. Also had some really low down movements, like fanny daggers but definitely from inside. I don't like those ones AT ALL.

Lavellan · 14/07/2019 08:44

I was just thinking exactly the same about movements. They aren't less, they're just different. Much more rolling and stretching.

I've been on holiday all this week. Have had lovely sunny weather, but terrible sciatica. The only thing that seems to have helped has been bobbing around in the sea.

Fortheloveofscience · 14/07/2019 08:45

I thought I’d spent a few weeks feeling feet in ribs and her bum sticking out, but it turns out I was completely wrong because she’s still head up. Now have absolutely no confidence about what I’m feeling. Also a bit confused because on the scan she had her feet up by her ears so I shouldn’t have felt anything low down, but something was bashing against my bladder for a lot of yesterday! Think I just need to accept I’m generally clueless.

kyles101 · 14/07/2019 08:55

Thanks @BBell2 I've been asked to call in every week to touch base, I assume what's needed will lessen over time but the early weeks are going to be the tougher ones with a new baby I would have thought. Im not sure, I think I'll just have to see how it goes. Thanks for sharing how you worked yours. Did you find it stressful being half involved?

Great news @Hsunshine typical as you say but better to check.

Very jealous of the holiday @Lavellan not so much the sciatica though. I had this once and it was so painful, feel for you.

Hsunshine · 14/07/2019 09:00

I am 33 that’s why I thought they should be getting stronger but the position had changed since Tuesday so maybe that’s why

I am clueless which way baby is, sometimes head down then the next week breech. I only know from when they tell me on the scans

boodles101 · 14/07/2019 11:15

Definite feet poking out in all sorts of places here. My girl is so strong it can sometimes be quite painful if she's having a good wriggle.
Megan I have a spot on my belly where I can feel much, if my boy is kicking in that area I don't really feel it but I can see it. Or if I put my hand on that bit, I can feel the kick on my hand but not internally if that makes sense. It's so strange. Sometimes he does worry me but I think it's cos the girl is that forceful, hers are much more noticeable.

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/07/2019 11:21

I wonder if that is their personalities showing through already boodles!

ColdCottage · 14/07/2019 11:50

Anyone got a summer cold?

Feeling crap and bladder weakness with the cough is not helping. 😩

ColdCottage · 14/07/2019 11:51

Anyone else self employed

McShakey · 14/07/2019 11:59

I’m still only getting little pokes at the minute but it’s all the time, she’s very active.

My bath seems to have done the trick last night and DH is doing tea tonight so I don’t have to move at all!.

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/07/2019 12:01

My nose has been streaming for weeks but no cough luckily

Megan2018 · 14/07/2019 12:12

Went out for a curry last night, had a popadom, Samosas, mixed tandoori (chicken, lamb, salmon and prawn) with small portion of mushroom rice and a sauce. 3x 0% lagers and only 7.1 - pleased with that as we ate late (didn’t finish until 11). Fasting this morning was an ok 5.2 too so that’s a night out I can get away with!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/07/2019 12:25

@Megan2018 that sounds delicious (and great within range!) but would have given me absolutely horrendous heartburn/acid reflux. We had spicy fajitas last night and I suffered all night, could only sleep propped up! Resigning myself to light/small dinners for the foreseeable future 😩 and a bucketload of gaviscon.

Proper pokes and jabs now - had a little foot or knee sticking out of my side this morning. Forgotten how odd it feels/looks!

Megan2018 · 14/07/2019 12:45

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri my heartburn has vanished since I started on the GD diet which is curious!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/07/2019 13:56

@Megan2018 how interesting! One upside to the GD! Wonder if it is to do with the combination of what you’re eating being more digestible or something like that.

Aspirin ladies - have your midwives/consultants said anything about stopping before you get to full term? The doctor I saw the other week said that she advises stopping at 36 weeks because at that point if you are going to develop pre-eclampsia the aspirin will have negligible effect and the risk of additional blood loss from labour or surgery outweighs the benefit. Interested to hear of others have been told similar?

kyles101 · 14/07/2019 13:58

Same for my heartburn too! More or less, scrambled eggs bring it back 🤷‍♀️It's a definite benefit!

boodles101 · 14/07/2019 13:59

Decaf yes it'll be interesting to see if they are like that once they are here. She seems to quieten down at night too whereas he gets a bit more active during the night. Interested to see if she sleeps well and he doesnt!
