I am a little nervous about starting this thread as I was previously on the March 2008 thread but m/c'd. But I got my bfp this morning and although still faint it is clearly there.

Anyone else coming to nervously join me?

Yes, that's normal -- except that you wouldn't normally get a scan that early, so that's a bit of a result for you.

I'm not planning on telling anyone before the end of the first trimester/after my nuchal scan. Although FIL will probably work it out unless I can come up with a stonkingly good excuse for not drinking for an entire weekend.

Rainbowdays · 04/08/2007 09:51

V1K - yep that sounds like a typical first appt, I was really disappointed when I went to my first one. But I am so jealous of you getting and early scan. I feel so nervous having just had a m/c that I really want one, but don't have a good enough reason to ask for one.

nomorehighheels - hi, congratulations and welcome. Hope you are doing ok.

shanks313 - Welcome and congratulations to you too. I have just 15 months between my two, it was hard work for the first 6 months with endless sleepless nights and nappies, but since then it has been so easy, it is great to have them close together.

Well I finally got a proper BFP rather than all the faint and only slightly less faint tests that I have had so far. Bit of a relief that it looks like things are going ok, just waiting for the morning sickness to start now!!!! I wonder how many of us will end up with April Fools babies, both my children arrived early, so would not be out of the realms of possibilty for me!

I wondered about the April fool baby too, that'd bre a larf LOL

We're not planning on telling ayone yet but as the sickness is starting to kick in (only nausea atm) it may be unavoidable before 12 weeks, we'll see. My sis is pg and due November, don't want to interfere with her support mechanism atm as she has had a nightmare time- still being sick (has a 3 yr old as well), her Dh was diagnosed with crohns and will need a bag in the next few months, she nearly lost ehr job because she couldn't work night (as ever the ACAS website was a Godsend in sorting that....)

muddyboots · 04/08/2007 11:38

After my miscarriage the mw said that next time I could ask for an early scan (although perhaps she was being nice!) so I'm going to give her a ring next week (wont bother with a trip to the GP)and ask if I can have one around the 6 week mark.

IF we see a little heartbeat then we're going to tell close family and friends but nobody else after that until 12 weeks.

Rainbowdays - Can you not ask for an early scan? You're obviously really anxious about this pregnancy and I'm sure your mw/Gp would agree that it would be best to calm your tattered nerves. You have had a lot to cope with with your recent mc.

We're off to a wedding this afternoon. Going to use the 'my turn to drive' excuse for the third time this week. Our friends are going to think that DH is a right selfish Bd!

lemonaid, my family are sure to notice something is up too!

lemonaid · 04/08/2007 12:17

I got away with it last weekend at my SIL's (barbecue) having realised that people notice if you refuse a drink, but if you take one they don't really notice what you're doing with it. So took a glass of wine, DH drank half of it when no one was looking, and then put it on the side later in the afternoon. Can't see that working with FIL, though (but would probably work at a wedding).

I may crack and pay for an early scan around 8 weeks at the Fetal Medicine Centre. In principle I am trying to be patient and hang on until 13 weeks, but knowing that the private scan is an option I think I'll give in before that.

Peachy · 04/08/2007 15:51

Have told Mum, mainly becauze we want her free in April to have the boys LOL if we can't have a home delivery (if she couldnt- and last time she'd booked a hopliday- I'd have to be alone as nobody else can hve boys). She was 'er that's a bit of a shock for you!' 'er no Mum, i've been trying to hint it for 8 months now that we're trying....'

LOL

How's everyone else doing?

Rainbowdays · 05/08/2007 08:44

Hi Having finally got the strong positive pregnancy test, I have got horrible backache and cramps. I am now feeling like something is going on. I just keep thinking it is stretching pains, but my lower back is killing me, so perhaps I have managed to strain the muscles in my back. oh the joys of pregnancy!!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

OP posts:
V1KK1M · 05/08/2007 09:24

Rainbowdays - I just explained that I wasn't sleeping due to worry and that I was still having pains like a had last time so they agreed to an early scan. I did have a private one booked for 1st Sept too so I guess this just saves me £95! I still don't think I am really going to believe I'm pregnant this time until I see a heartbeat!

The pains I am having this time are just like period pains and I'm constantly in the loo checking. I wish it was just really easy and that you didn't find out until you were 12wks and you can enjoy it.

Peachy · 05/08/2007 12:29

Rainbowdays i hope you're OK- if it helps I have (and did with all the other 3) the same symptoms.

would be worth arranging a scan to put your mind at rest.

lemonaid · 06/08/2007 09:55

Bleeeeeeurgh I don't feel well this morning. Why oh why oh why did I stupidly say last week that I'd quite like to feel some m/s as it would be reassuring?

Peachy · 06/08/2007 11:15

LOL lemonaid

ditto

though still resolutely focussing on the not as bad as in perevious pg's fact

Sara74 · 06/08/2007 13:58

Hi everyone,
I'm due on 2nd April I think. Am off to the gps this evening, hopefully to arrange an early scan. I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in January and was getting quite worried about not conceiving quickly after!! (only because best friend who had miscarriage same time as me got pregnant straight away.) I'm trying to remember what it felt like last time, because am worried I don't feel pregnant enough!! It's hard to let go of the feelings about the last baby when thinking about this one. I'm trying hard to not get too excited - at least until I can have a scan.
It's so good to find a supportive environment where I can share my thoughts with people who understand!

scorpio1 · 06/08/2007 15:13

just got bfp.....

NoMoreHighHeels · 06/08/2007 15:40

Hi everyone! Thanks for the welcome messages! We aren't going to tell anyone yet - just seems a bit soon. Hope I can keep it hidden as I feel my boobs have swelled up and may soon need their own postcode (and they weren't exactly small to start with!) Had to share the BFP with someone though so I'm glad this thread was up and running! We can all keep our secret together here on MN (how did I manage without it when I had DS?)

Welcome to Sara and Scorpio - hope everything goes well for you both.

Elfsmummy · 06/08/2007 20:32

Can I join in?
Just got BFP yesterday after 1st month of trying

Think I'm due 8th April

I have a DD born 13th April 2006 so wondering if they could share a birthday??

Feeling quite aprehensive about the whole thing which I never felt last time around, maybe because I know what I'm letting myself in for?? LOL

Had horrible MS last time around which eventually went with some accupuncture. So I'm dreading that happening again.

I can't believe how many people there are on here already!

modsaluk · 06/08/2007 21:17

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I am still a little worried, nothing has happened really, with my first pregnancy i had morning sickness and can not remember when this started but have had none yet. Also i keep getting sharp sort of cramps in my bikini line area if i move too quickly it sometimes happens too, is this normal?

How would i know if i miscarried ? I thought i would be more relaxed with my second but think i am worse as this is different.

scorpio1 · 07/08/2007 10:37

hi

i feel sick and bleurgh, but im not moaning!

when are you all going to the doctors? i dont know when to, im 4+4 today. i thought in about 2 weeks?

modsa-please dont get worried. pains are normal, as long as no blood accompanies the pain.

modsaluk · 07/08/2007 11:21

Thank you for the message Scorpio1, i did feel a little sicky this morning. I have told my family the news and some close friends but have only told one friend at work. Has anyone else told anyone ?

I think the maternity leave is now 9 months can anyone confirm this please?

Sally

Peachy · 07/08/2007 11:35

For anything apternity or amternity related look at the ACAS ewbsite- its amazing. had to call them yesterday as DH's workplaces new owners wrere fiddling with contracts in a way that looked as if he owuld be regardeda s starting when they took over (he's been there 4 years) and that would mean no paternity 9and a baby due in the easter hols- nightmare!0, fortunately they can't do that.

Going to the GP Thursday.
