I am a little nervous about starting this thread as I was previously on the March 2008 thread but m/c'd. But I got my bfp this morning and although still faint it is clearly there.

Anyone else coming to nervously join me?

I too was having bad cramps last thursday and into friday. thursday was when i started bleeding too. the bleeding only stopped on tuesday evening early wednesday morning. i still get cramps every so often and sometimes a pain in my left hand side. the emergency scan i got last friday did show the sac n fetal pole but no heartbeat so i am crossing everything that next scan tomorrow will be ok.

again i never bled with other 2ds and so obviously i am scared to bits. i agree what will be will be so chins up girls until we know otherwise.

MrsThreads · 30/08/2007 16:07

i think i spoke too soon as I have had a bit more browny discharge and a tiny bit when I wiped as well as AF type cramps but trying not to worry as my AF would be due today/tomorrow.

Why does this happen though? Does my AF not know there is a bean in there? Doing my head in this afternoon and now back to knickerwatching every 10 mins.

My scan can't come soon enough but just a bit more scared than excited at the moment.

Roll on 9.30am tomorrow morning & as mixed emotioned.

franny22 · 30/08/2007 16:19

mrs threads Im sure you will be ok. you are a bit further on than me, im only 6+ at the moment. im getting an internal scan tomorrow (lovely - something to look forward to) and i hope to god they can find a heartbeat tomorrow.

my appt is 8.30 and so will be thinking of you at 9.30. gl xx

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 30/08/2007 16:28

Franny good luck for tomorrow hope all goes well x

When I had mine scan on tuesday I was 5+2 and there wasnt even a fetal pole!

The wait for the next one is horrid a week on Tuesday!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 30/08/2007 16:30

mrs threads and good luck to you too do let us know I am sure it will be good news

dolly1 · 30/08/2007 16:38

Franny22 - good luck for your scan too. I was 6+3 (but oved late so actually a few days behind that) and saw a heart beat so hopefully you will too.

Can I ask anyone for who is going for a scan to let me know what size their yolk sac is please?!
Still really worrying about mine being too big according to the doc so would really like to hear what other people get told.
Feeling like a freak at the mo. Of all the things I thought I'd be worrying about the size of the yolk sac was not one of them!

Sara74 · 30/08/2007 17:07

Hello,
on a completely different tack - saw the midwife on monday, who mentioned the triple test and nuchal scan. we're now in a dilemma. i really don't think i want to have any tests other than the 20 week scan. i don't think i could bring myself to terminate this baby, so what's the point? or is it just naive to say i'm happy to get what i'm given?
are you all going to have blood tests?

lemonaid · 30/08/2007 17:30

I'm going to have the nuchal scan, because I don't want to wait until 20 weeks for a scan and because in the highly likely event that the nuchal fold is a nice small width I'll feel reassured.

I won't have the triple test because in almost everyone in late 30s upwards that seems to come back with a higher risk factor than just the nuchal scan and that would worry me also I wouldn't have an amnio for a risk of Down's or spina bifida, which is what the triple test picks up (I don't think I get offered the triple test automatically here anyway unless the nuchal scan comes back high risk, but I'm not sure about that I certainly wasn't offered it last time, but then I'm now 35 and officially Old).

If the nuchal scan showed a really huge nuchal fold and suggestions of other problems that meant a high likelihood of an incompatible-with-life condition then I might have an amnio, but not otherwise.

Peachy · 30/08/2007 18:57

Sra I'm not having any tests abr the scans, I already have two disabled children and to have an amnio / termination seems wrong as a result- though I wouldn't criticise anyone who chose to. I did have the triple tests with the others, but ds3's results came abck high risk and they put a lot of rpessure on us to have amnio which we didn't want- I can't se the point of that again. besides, he was clear of DS (we had a detailed scan to check for amrkers then just waited until he came) but developed autism almost 3 years down the line, so a clar amnio sadly is no guarantee.

franny22 · 30/08/2007 20:26

thanks for all your well wishes. i also have declined the tests for spina bifida and downs cos being 34 and an "older maw" the results would come back high anyway. Ive absolutely no idea what a nuchal scan is and ive not been offered one so cant comment.

i will ask about the size of the yolk sack and let you know. xx

chipmonkey · 30/08/2007 22:44

Tbh, there would be v. little I would terminate for, maybe something that was incompatible with life but definitely not for DS. But I think I would like to be prepared.

Springflower · 30/08/2007 22:56

Hi, I've not posted much as I was planning to wait until after my 8 1/2 week scan on 28 August but I miscarried for the fourth time just before then. So, if you can take me off the list and good luck to everyone.

chipmonkey · 30/08/2007 23:37

Springflower, so sorry!

EllieG · 31/08/2007 10:26

So sorry springflower x

Peachy · 31/08/2007 10:42

I'm sorry springflower, good luck for the future- my Mum miscarried 4 at 28 weeks and lost another for other reasons, then went on to have 3 straight off full term. I hope that the same applies to you X

ToastAddict · 31/08/2007 10:48

So sorry springflower x

TheMaskedPoster · 31/08/2007 10:50

Oh Springflower, i'm so sorry
Thinking of you
xx

dolly1 · 31/08/2007 11:26

Springflower I am so sorry to hear that. It must be terrible but don't give up hope for the future.

OK ladies listen to this for a nightmare.

Just called the doc who did the scan to ask what size a yolk sac should be at 6w (3mm he says) and to ask if it means there will be problems with the baby. He said very well might mean that and told me if I wanted a termination he would do it but prob best to wait until 8w scan!
Very cold, very matter a fact and certainly no reasurrance.
I will definately terminate if there are any probs as I feel quite strongly that I do not want a disabled child. While I have a deep respect for those who do go ahead we have decided it's not something we would consider.
So I am now left wondering what the hell to do. Only waiting till the 12w scan will give me a real picture but he reckons it's likely to be bad news by the sounds of things.
Any advice would be great. Am going out of my mind with worry. I am just 27 and very healthy so I can't quite believe this is happening.
I would urge others who have no need (bleeding, previous miscarriage) for an early scan not to have one because they are just not worth the worry. I really regret it.

RLR · 31/08/2007 11:27

hi ladies,
im 6+3, this is my second pg, i have a dd aged 3 and a half years old.im getting pain in my lower left of my stomach just wondering if and ladies on here have had this i mostly get it at night time and in the night.im wondering if i should go and see gp to c if theres anything wrong .rach x

MrsThreads · 31/08/2007 12:08

Dolly, 3mm at 6w? My sac was 12.4mm at 6w and the nurses were perfectly happy with that for my dates. Sweetie, I think you should get a 2nd opinion before you think of terminations.

Take care
Natx

MrsThreads · 31/08/2007 12:11

I am so sorry to hear your sad news Springflower.

Take care of yourself and lots of hugs for you.

Natx

dolly1 · 31/08/2007 12:14

Mrs Threads was that your yolk sac or gestational sac though?
Thanks for trying to reassure me. Have spoken to the EPU at my local hsop and they have told me to go in for scan tomorrow morning. She says a heart beat is the main thing and because I saw one of them I shouldn't be worried.
I truly can't believe how insensitive this doc has been.

x

ToastAddict · 31/08/2007 12:15

I agree, I think you need a second opinion before you even start thinking along those lines.

I'm not really sure of the sac size, but my bean was 3.1mm at 5+5(ish). Everyone was happy with that.

Can you get another scan with someone else?

Thinking of you..... x

Peachy · 31/08/2007 12:16

Dolly, youa re aware right that the vast majority of disabilities do not show on a scan or test? Just wanted to be sure you were

Really hope it works out for you

Peachy · 31/08/2007 12:16
