Tentatively starting this as got a surprise bfp today, due date will be 29 Feb-2 March I think. Currently in shock and not even sure if we can go ahead but I hope we can as the news has made me happy, if scared!

Anyone else?

@Kimberlily - I know how you feel. Before I got pregnant I was a big wine drinker, and have a blog about wine. People are getting very suspicious when I turn down wine, but I keep telling them im driving.

The Netherlands is home for me, I've lived here for almost 6 years, but I still dont speak Dutch. My mother actually suggested I take a peek at Mumsnet.

When is your scan?

Rumi1 · 18/07/2019 08:04

@Kimberlily sorry to hear of your miscarriages ... it's hard I know

I sincerely hope all goes well today

I'm nervous about tomorrow .. my hcg blood count has been strong and doubling ... now we just need to see that heart beat

2 weeks ago all we saw was a black dot ....

Are you a FTM? I have 2 boys , 15 and 4.

The 11 year gap was both intended and a struggle to fall pregnant when we were ready

I focused on my career , then tried to give our son a sibling and kept failing . Eventually getting pregnant with our 2nd DS in 2015

So we have 2 lovely boys - 3 failed pregnancies ... this pregnancy is my 6th time pregnant...

I have mixed emotions: excited , scared and anxious

But keeping this pregnancy quiet until first scan and Harmony test results x

Good luck with today my sweets xxx

Rumi1 · 18/07/2019 08:11

@AMos16

I forgot to add the first 6 weeks are paid at 90% of your ordinary salary

The remaining pay for the 33 weeks is at statutory

My company offers me statutory plus 30% of my ordinary salary x

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 08:17

@Rumi1 I'm so glad you have joined this post..... learned lots from you already. Had no idea there was such a thing as a Harmony test, just googled it. Is it correct that they are £350+?

Sounds like you have a lovely family set up. I am going to be a FTM (hopefully) My husband is v excited but we are goth guarding our feelings until today's scan.

Will you wait to tell your boys around the 15weeks mark too? I wonder if you will have another boy....? No idea why but I have always expected to have baby boys but my baby names list on my phone only consists of girls names!😂

I actually felt a bit nauseous last night which I was pleased about but I am not sure if I just ate too much yesterday or if it's another symptom creeping in.

I hope you remain symptom free.... I'm sure if I see a heartbeat today all the symptoms will hit me like a ton of bricks!😅x

AMos16 · 18/07/2019 08:22

@Kimberlily @Rumi1

The NIPT test (harmony test) is expensive in the UK, here its 175 euros (160 GBP).

Its also option and not covered by our health insurance, I am debating if we should get it done or not - have an info appointment scheduled with my midwife to discuss it more.

I have nausea today which is made worse by driving - like extreme car sickness Sad

But symptoms mean something is happening inside you which is a good sign I guess.

EMcG3 · 18/07/2019 08:24

@Rumi1 - the usual age of pregnancy can vary a bit by community. For a whole host of reasons, most women in my community don't start trying until they are 33+. I'm 35 and only started trying a few months ago. We are all on the older side and all worried about our fertility but by and large my friends and colleagues have successfully gotten pregnant and have healthy pregnancies and healthy kids.

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 08:34

@AMos16 it's such a big thing to consider... my auntie is Down syndrome and she is now 63 and probably led the happiest, most care free life out of anyone I know. It has been a full time job for my gran and I think it takes v special people to lead this life. I thought the nhs did a scan and could tell by the length of the neck? I suppose the harmony test is much more accurate.

Ginandgingers92 · 18/07/2019 08:46

@Kimberlily they look at the nucheal translucency of fluid in the back of the neck and can give an indication of the chances of having a downs baby, if it falls outside of the 'normal' range. But it's not definitive xx

MunchyMunchkin · 18/07/2019 08:50

Had my scan just now. Measuring 6+4 and fetal heart seen. Delighted!

Frillyfarmer · 18/07/2019 09:00

My company pay 6 months full pay and then statutory afterwards which is really good. If this pregnancy is successful, I will probably take 9 months as I did with DS and return new year 2021 🤞🏼 I'm in the middle of a promotion at the moment so I really need to keep this pregnancy under wraps until early sept when the decision is made as I work in a male dominated industry and I'm fairly convinced my previous mat leave went against me in promotion.

I think I'm going to have NHS tests and if anything comes back high, I can have a harmony. I'm 29 so I have age on my side - I never even thought about the harmony tests with DS.

Today I am rough. Very nauseous but not actually sick. Watery mouth, wibbly and about to embark on a four hour arbitration conference call 😩🤢

Frillyfarmer · 18/07/2019 09:01

@MunchyMunchkin that's great news! Such a relief xx

Ginandgingers92 · 18/07/2019 09:02

Wonderful! 😍😍

I can't shake the feeling that something's gone wrong for me 😞 i thought I would be less anxious things time, but maybe not 😩

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 09:24

@MunchyMunchkin congratulations! This is lovely news!

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 09:44

@Ginandgingers92 I feel the same. Hopefully my intuition isn't as good as I think it is.

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 09:44

@AuroraMJ aw mine didn't offer that just the tablets 🙈 it really is I'm exhausted 😂

Have you had any luck with the tablets have they helped?

How are you feeling?

@MunchyMunchkin aw yay!! So happy for you 😁 did you get a pic? 💕

mangobutter · 18/07/2019 11:11

I'm approaching 8 weeks and have started feeling pretty rough. Nausea is mostly in the evening but I'm feeling generally wiped out and exhausted. Remember this stage being really hard last time! Really busy few as as well with loads on at work and home so feeling quite stressed overall. Seeing my mum tomorrow and don't know whether to tell her as not sure what her reaction will be...

Ginandgingers92 · 18/07/2019 11:11

Craving salt and any salted potato products today like you wouldn't believe 🙈🙈🙈🙈

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 11:37

@mangobutter hopefully it's not as bad for you 🤞🏻 I'm rough and only 6 weeks 😩🙈

@Ginandgingers92 I've been wanting yoghurt and cereal 🤷🏻‍♀️

AuroraMJ · 18/07/2019 11:46

@Abi58 I think they're working.... I still feel nauseous but it's not as bad. It's almost like the tablets are masking it rather than getting rid of it - if that makes sense 🙈

How are you feeling?

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 11:47

@AuroraMJ that's exactly the same. Mines mostly dizziness like the room is spinning so it's awful

Feeling rough struggling at work 😭

MunchyMunchkin · 18/07/2019 11:47

@Abi58 no picture as just a blob with a flicker for the heartbeat. Similar to yours I’m sure!

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 11:51

@MunchyMunchkin aw amazing isn't it ☺️

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 11:57

The more I look at the pic I got of my scan the more I think my yolk sac seems to look more solid than any others I've seen 🤷🏻‍♀️
