Tentatively starting this as got a surprise bfp today, due date will be 29 Feb-2 March I think. Currently in shock and not even sure if we can go ahead but I hope we can as the news has made me happy, if scared!

Anyone else?

@Abi58 Haha. I know this feeling too well!!!! It's on the 1st August. Should be 7+5 so will see 🤞 xx

Frillyfarmer · 17/07/2019 14:19

@AMos16 I'm also due 3rd March and I'm 7+1 today. Got a scan booked at 8 weeks and really struggling today with sickness!

AMos16 · 17/07/2019 14:26

@Frillyfarmer Congratulations!

I had a really bad week last week, constantly vomiting, lots of time off work. Try lemon and ginger tea, or ginger biscuits. This seems to help. Other than that, you just have to ride the wave and try to figure out what works for you.

My scan is next Tuesday, im nervous and excited. I think then it will finally feel real, because at the moment apart fro vomiting and larger boobs, there isn't much to show for it!

Pikachu1 · 17/07/2019 16:46

@Abi58
The dentist said it is infected and has prescribed me amoxicillin which I have been told is totally safe in pregnancy at any stage. The pharmacist didn't want to sell me anbesol though (he said it was best avoided - though I very much doubt he's experienced extreme pain from an infected tooth in pregnancy!!!). Regardless though I'm going to try to go without. What I found strange though was the dentist told me to take paracetamol and ibuprofen! Paracetamol I can understand but I thought ibuprofen was dangerous in pregnancy?! I cannot wait for the antibiotics to start working!!!
I was worrying I was a bit stinky too (though I'm not sure if I was or just increased sense of smell) but as I'm lounging around at home (though would rather feel well enough to go to work I think!) I guess it doesn't really matter at the moment!

Pikachu1 · 17/07/2019 17:11

Just an update to my stats as it was my birthday at the weekend! Not that I did much as was super hormonal, sick, tired and coming down with my lovely tooth infection! Also added due date 😁

Abi58 · 17/07/2019 17:20

@AuroraMJ what meds were you prescribed I've been given some but in the leaflet it says do not take if pregnant 🤷🏻‍♀️ nhs website says ok but as little as possible.

AuroraMJ · 17/07/2019 17:36

@Abi58 Cyclizine. My GP said that the leaflets would say the same as they don't test on pregnant women. But so many women have taken them with no problems so I guess they're fairly safe 🤷‍♀️

I did ask in a separate forum and many said to take them as they work so am going to give them a shot! I probably won't take the 3 a day though as they're supposed to make you drowsy.

Abi58 · 17/07/2019 17:36

@mommato3 🤞🏻

@Pikachu1 aw bless you! 🤞🏻 you start feeling better soon!

I wouldn't take the ibuprofen but double check on the nhs website

MunchyMunchkin · 17/07/2019 17:41

@pikachu1 definitely no ibuprofen!

Who was asking about cyclizine? It’s got a good safety profile in pregnancy and is in the guidelines for pregnancy sickness. I would take it if you’re sickness or nausea is bad.

I initially felt better after my car vom and survived the last bit of the journey but have spent the rest of the afternoon feeling sorry for myself and haven’t eaten anything as I feel grim. Had to cancel on a friend I was supposed to be seeing later.

caffeinebuzz · 17/07/2019 17:41

@AuroraMJ @Abi58 That's what I took during my last pregnancy and they really worked. For the first few days I was so drowsy, but then as my body adjusted that went away.

Abi58 · 17/07/2019 18:01

@AuroraMJ yes that's what I've been prescribed as well 🤞🏻 it does the trick!
Dr told me to make sure I get plenty of rest, I'm definitely burning myself out atm

Thank you @MunchyMunchkin and @caffeinebuzz

@MunchyMunchkin sorry you feel awful hopefully you feel better soon!

AuroraMJ · 17/07/2019 18:17

@Abi58 She said the same to me 🙈 She wanted to give me a sick note for 2 weeks but I told her I'll see how the tablets go first.

Rest up, it's not easy growing a tiny human!

Ithoughtyouwere · 17/07/2019 18:41

Hi all, would like to tentatively join if that’s ok?

Finally got a solid BFP yesterday after what feels like a million negative tests despite feeling nauseous for a couple of weeks. Per lmp I’m 4 weeks 5 days, due 20 March.

Ginandgingers92 · 17/07/2019 18:47

Update to my stats too, as it was my birthday yesterday and I think an extra child has appeared from somewhere for me 🙈

Kimberlily · 17/07/2019 20:18

@Rumi1 Welcome 💕 I have a due date the same as you and also no symptoms. R u concerned at all or was it the same with your previous pregnancies? I feel that I should have symptoms by now

Rumi1 · 17/07/2019 21:07

@Kimberlily

Hey my lovely - not concerned as it happens

My first DS morning sickness was awful , 2nd DS it was moderate mainly had aversions to certain smells

I'm really tired - but that's it . No sore boobs and no sickness at all.

My main worry / thing that plays on my mind is my age as I'm 36 now and I know I'm seen as a older mum post 35 :-/

So we will be doing the Harmony test at a private clinic

I'll update you on Friday in regards to my early scan

They said they would keep an eye on me due to the miscarriage last year

It's a leap year next year - so I'm hoping that means something magical

How are you feeling ?

Drops0fJupiter · 17/07/2019 22:14

@Rumi1 - ooh good point about a leap year, I wonder if we will get a 29th Feb baby on this thread!

Is anyone else insanely thirsty?! I don't remember getting this last time, I just seem to be constantly thirsty. I don't drink enough water normally though so maybe I am just drinking a normal level now lol

AMos16 · 18/07/2019 07:21

Have you told everyone yet?

I keep getting really excited and almost spilling the beans but we decided to wait until after at least the first scan.

We told my parents (i was on the phone to my mum as I was peeing on the stick pretty much).

Also, I'm not actually living in the UK currently. I live in the Netherlands but all the forums here are in Dutch! What kind of maternity leave do you get in the UK? Here is 4 months, and you legally have to start maternity leave 4 weeks before the due date leaving 12 weeks after the birth - seems really short, but at 100% pay.

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 07:41

@Rumi1 This is so good to hear when you already have 2 healthy children! Thank you for putting my mind at ease a little.

As for the old mum comment......I know loads of ladies who have children late 30s early 40s so in my eyes your still a young thing. But I say it's a positive if you fall into any 'vulnerable' category as you'll be better cared for.

I have my scan today, had 1 molar pregnancy last November and since 2 miscarriages. Last scan at 6 weeks there was no fetal pole so pinning all my hopes on today's that we have a heart beat! Will keep you posted.

And yeaaaassss...... Leap year! 🤞🏽💕 Hopefully a lucky sign!

Good luck tomorrow. I'll look forward to hearing how you get on xx

Rumi1 · 18/07/2019 07:53

@AMos16 morning my lovely

We've not told anyone ... just the 2 of us know .

The "protection " we receive in maternity in the UK is good however the statutory pay is poor

Woman are entitled to 52 weeks off work , 39 of this is paid at statutory (£562 per month ish I think )

If you return before 39 weeks your job and salary are protected .

If you take the full 52 weeks your employer has to offer you a job but it may not necessarily be the same role ... but the salary should be the same

You can also share your leave with your partner

I'm early days yet , but as this was "a shock "pregnancy I plan on taking only 6 months

Returning but working from home part of the week...

My mother is like a live in nanny at the moment ( we have a 4 y/o and a 15 y/o) and I think she'll be over the moon . In fact I know she will

We're not sharing the news until 15 weeks ish - hard I know ... but we will try x

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 07:57

@AMos16 I knoooowww.... you just want to shout it out to everyone but I am going to wait till my scan like you. I have told immediate family but looking forward to sharing with friends. Hopefully get to see a heart beat today and I can start sharing. The minute I'm offered a drink and decline everyone will known I'm pregnant 😅

I actually don't know how it works here in UK. I am a flight attendant on private jets and because of the exposure to radiation Its recommended to stop flying immediately. I will still get paid to birth but not sure how much after giving birth. Must look into this😂

Will you come home to have baby or is Netherlands home for you?

AMos16 · 18/07/2019 07:58

@Rumi1 - morning to you too Smile
Wow, that pay is shocking!

The norm here is most women go back to work part-time (3-4 days per week) but you are entitled to parental leave which is of course unpaid. Its a certain amount of days based on your hours, and you can take these whenever you want. Your job is fully protected during this time, unless your contract expires while your away, though im pretty sure there are legal implications in that case!

3 months after birth seems too short, but at least its full pay. Im planning to go back to work 3 days per week, my husband will work 4 days then we will have day care for 2 days.

My husband will only get 1 week of paternity leave, but is also entitles to parental unpaid leave too.

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 08:01

@Rumi1 Thanks for this info. 👍🏼

Your v lucky to have you mum living with you. Perfect sitch!
