Just had some bad news, one infection marker is up... I've got to stay in now to be monitored to see if the other marker goes up in 24 hours. Doctor said to prepare myself for this baby to come sooner than later.

Sending every positive vibe I have. Remember there is a darn good rate at 28 weeks onwards and a healthy baby in there so try not to worry too much.

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/06/2019 13:16

Gosh twittle its just one thing after another isnt it. Just remember though every day baby is getting stronger Flowers

kyles101 · 28/06/2019 13:18

Best place for you both at the minute lovely. And you're forced to rest in there which is no bad thing. Either way I'm sure everything will be fine; very early or if you get to go home for a few weeks.

Karigan195 · 28/06/2019 13:21

@IVEgottheDECAF. Funnily enough I was clearing the laundry back log yesterday as well. I swear there are more people living in my house than I know about!

Interesting to read discussion re Woburn as been debating a centre Parcs trip but always wonder what it can give me that I don’t get from living in wales anyway🤔

HEFebery · 28/06/2019 13:22

Gosh @TwittleBee you poor thing!

Sending all good vibes - like someone said previously just keep remembering that you're in the best place and we've got to a good stage.

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 13:22

@kyles101
Our targets are the same as yours, and we test before breakfast then one hour after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Our dietician wasn't as bad as that, definitely suggested avoiding all low fat things.

I am going with their diet to start with and see how my levels go. I can always rein it in more as per the gestational diabetes website suggests - but I'm going to see if I can tolerate some small portions of pasta etc as no point giving up what you don't need. Also as pregnancy progresses it's likely to get worse, so I don't want to go all out now if I don't need to.

So far this bread is working for me though, had 2 slices as toast at breakfast and another 2 in a sandwich at lunch (with a lot of protein) www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/hovis-lower-carb-deliciously-seeded-400g

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/06/2019 13:23

Karigan 😁 I have washed and line dried two loads already today, load 3 is now on the line and load 4 is in the washer! I cant decide if i need to buy a washer/dryer as once baby is here we are a family of 7!

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/06/2019 13:24

The whole GD thing sounds a nightmare. I bet i would be rubbish at it. I like to eat what i want when i want.

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 13:25

We are rooting for you @TwittleBee
At least being in means enforced rest and best chances all round

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 13:28

@IVEgottheDECAF I'm the same - but when you know it risks the baby it is suddenly really easy to just not eat the things you'd normally have. The thought of her spending her first hours in special care because I scoffed the pasta and cakes is a very good way to stop me doing it.

Mind you I thought I'd really miss wine but I've found that fine to stop too.

When baby is out though there will be a gourmet feast of pate, rare steak, chips, massive cake and a good glug of fizz.

Stroan · 28/06/2019 13:29

Keeping everything crossed for you @twittlebee hope you are managing to get some rest despite the noise of a hospital ward. You are in the best place for you and baby.

Stroan · 28/06/2019 13:47

@kyles101 standard nutritional advice. It may well work for some people but would be disastrous for me. I suspect it contributes to a lot more medication for some.

I really wouldn't worry about your 2hr reading. I switched from 2hr testing to 1hr and it barely made any difference. (Scottish guidelines are 2 hours but I prefer 1hr because of the nausea.

@IVEgottheDECAF it's not bad once you get used to it. I've got a box of chocolates and cherry flapjacks packed in my hospital bag though!

Dipsy77 · 28/06/2019 13:51

Is anyone suffering from bad hay fever ?, I didn't suffer last year but normally get it bad and have to take the highest dose antihistamine from the docs, I've suffered so bad over last few days I can't go out without coughing, sneezing, eyes closing up itchy sore throat it's awful and I'm struggling to function I rang my gp who told me there isn't anything I can do but to look up home remedies and advise from a pharmacist or nhs website it's a lovely day and I'm stuck inside at the minute feeling like I've been fobbed off I know you can't take a lot of prescribed antihistamines but surely there is something that can help Hmm

happydays00 · 28/06/2019 13:54

Welcome at @HEFebery !

@kyles101 - you sound like you're handling the GD well so far!! I think I'd be losing it over the lack of carbs

@boodles101 super jealous of the centre parcs break, the forecast looks like it will just be a perfect temperature for you!

@TwittleBee glad to see you are hanging on in there , try to rest as much as possible when you get home. I would also find it incredibly difficult but it's doctors orders!

I have no motivation for work at all today. Have only got about 6 or 7 weeks (3 or 4 days a week) so should really just get a grip and get on with it but just can't seem to get going today.

kyles101 · 28/06/2019 13:56

Thanks for the bread @Megan2018 - that'll go in the basket for next week. I have actually had a few medium rare steaks, that was my line!!

@IVEgottheDECAF there was one lady in the group who actually was saying "well, I've only got 5 weeks left I'm going to eat what I want." That includes 2 bottles of lucosade a day... I'm sure you'd manage better than her!! Did feel sorry for 2 other ladies though, one was 15 weeks and the other 18... long slogs for them!

@Stroan oooh flapjack 🤤

Oh @Dipsy77 that sounds proper pants. Hopefully someone here can suggest something I've never had it. Especially rubbish now we finally have some decent weather.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 28/06/2019 14:08

@TwittleBee thinking of you and bubs and wishing you both all the very best. As others have said, all you can do is rest and try to relax as much as you can (which I know is easier said than done).

@Dipsy77 mine is usually horrendous but this year I’ve been managing with a spray called Becodefence - it’s sold in boots/supermarkets and says it’s safe for pregnancy. Basically it coats your nose and traps the pollen. Pretty decent IMO.

@Megan2018
“When baby is out though there will be a gourmet feast of pate, rare steak, chips, massive cake and a good glug of fizz.” That sounds like my kind of meal! The rarer the better and a nice glass of red Smile

Baby is full on punching and kicking at the moment - with so much force I literally jumped off my chair just now. Feels quite uncomfortable and my stomach feels so stretched

kyles101 · 28/06/2019 14:12

6.2 whoop! Just another 280 odd tests to due date!!

Dipsy77 · 28/06/2019 14:22

Thanks @BridgetJonesDaiquiri I'll be trying some this weekend Smile

boodles101 · 28/06/2019 14:41

Florencenotflo you could always try sitting on side of the hot tub and just having your legs in the water. That's if there's enough room to sit!

Twittlebee sorry to hear about the infection marker. I hope you are keeping positive though, easier said then done I'd imagine.

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 15:03

@Dipsy77
I usually suffer hideous hayfever but by some miracle no symptoms in pregnancy. I was dreading it as GP said there is nothing safe in pregnancy, so you have my sympathies!
I do recommend a saline nasal spray though, Sterimar. Won’t help the eyes but may help nose/ throat.

stormtrooperjulian · 28/06/2019 15:31

@Dipsy77 my GP told me that both cetirizine and loratadine were perfectly safe to take during pregnancy, and a quick google search seems to back that up. I’ve been taking antihistamines as and when I feel that I need them.

DustyDoorframes · 28/06/2019 15:41

Oh @TwittleBee more stress! Hopefully your immune system is sorting it. Are you managing to rest? I was in for a few days before DC1, and a thick eye mask and those gummy earplugs you shape to your own ears (like weird clear blue tack??) made a huge difference. And a good stack of trashy magazines!
Every day odds are improving- so today is already better than if he's turned up when you first went in two days ago. Roll on 29 weeks...

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 15:47

@stormtrooperjulian
Funny how they all differ - I normally have Loratadine but my GP said definitely not...

Moraxella · 28/06/2019 16:43

my GP said no antihistamines, but the teratology advice website says loratidine might be ok:
