Oh my boodles imagine how uncomfortable that would have been in this heatwave! It's hot enough over here! Can't believe how crazy the heat is in Europe.

That's what I so need to do still Decaf ! Want to get all the washing sorted in this weather, suppose I should get DH to do it

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/06/2019 07:22

Twittle you will have to do a lot of delegating now! No running up and down stairs for you!

TwittleBee · 28/06/2019 07:24

Yeah I'm gonna seriously struggle to rest, it's so autopilot! DH told me off for fussing about the tidiness of my ward bay, didn't even think - I just saw mess

Twittle I’m just relieved every time you post to see you’re doing ok.

No news here really - mega busy at work so I pulled a 13 hour day yesterday to try and clear some backlog. Left me absolutely shattered, but meant that last night I actually had a semi-decent sleep for the first time this week.

Stroan · 28/06/2019 07:52

@twittlebee definitely no washing for you when you get home! How was your friend in the ward overnight?

Hardly any sleep here last night, just too hot and DD was in my bed clinging to me all night. It was like sleeping with a 3 foot long hot water bottle.

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 08:02

Glad baby still in @TwittleBee, every little helps!
I’ve been sleeping really well this week, waking up much less often. Can’t explain why though! No heatwave here though, only been low 20’s so far.
I’m on leave all next week, just at home, so going to do all the baby washing too.

Still managing to stay within the targets for my GD, hopefully we may get away without medication for a while.

TheCraicDealer · 28/06/2019 08:15

I was sitting out reading after work yesterday, it was lush! It was only about 20 degrees though. Have to finish the nursery painting this weekend but if it's nice I want to be outside.

My only comfort re. the ridiculousness that is turning over in bed is that I wake DH too when I do it. At least he knows how annoying it is, and I'm fairly certain he heard the click that emitted from my back/pelvis this morning as I turned.

Speaking of DH, his mates from home are trying to get a head wetting sorted for him and another guy whose wife is due the start of September. He was seriously thinking he could go away the weekend of 04-06 October- "but she's due on the 25th, that's loads of time!". Oh you sweet summer child Grin

Florencenotflo · 28/06/2019 08:17

Glad to see your updates @TwittleBee

I met with my boss yesterday, they have appointed my maternity cover. She's lovely so I'm pleased. Depressingly I also received my pack from HR detailing my pay week by week. Might have to come back earlier than I thought, but I need to do some more fiddling around first. See where we can save some money etc and DH is still looking for a second job. But it is what it is, we knew that would be the case having a second right now.

Everything is feeling quite real now. The weeks are flying by!

Lavellan · 28/06/2019 08:18

After today I have 8 days of work left. (technician school summer hols) Can't wait.

They've completely failed to organise any cover for me. I feel quite sorry for my department but there's feck all I can do.

Florencenotflo · 28/06/2019 08:19

Ha ha @TheCraicDealer bless him. A guy DH works with took 2 weeks annual leave from his wife's due date and was really surprised that baby didn't arrive until 10 days into that 2 weeks!

@boodles101 which Centre Parcs are you going to? We're off to Longleat the week after next. Thank god for the land train 😂

kyles101 · 28/06/2019 08:24

Don't be silly @TwittleBee that's what we're here for. Apparently post birth our private rooms are only £30ish - if available- it's a no brainier, I'm reserving one the second I start contracting!!

Aw I love centre parcs @boodles101 - we used to go for Christmas every year - swimming outside on Christmas Day was magic!! You'll have a great time!

Ha @TheCraicDealer DHs are crazy people. The whole head wetting thing actually seriously annoys me - like a pat on the back for what? Watching us carry and then push out a baby. Just no. I've told DH he's more than welcome to go out with his mates, but he's not allowed to refer to it as wetting the babies head in front of me!!

Have my first GD appointment this morning... so I've been a good girl and had breakfast - I'm normally a skipper - had one slice of granary toast with full fat cream cheese and a slice of smoked salmon. And one pint of water so far, will have another shortly. From what I've read that is good - high fat, some carbs - unless they're old school here and think low fat with lashings of sugar instead is the way to go 🙄 if that's the case then I'll be walking out of the nutritionist talk.

HEFebery · 28/06/2019 08:27

Hi all!

Hope I'm not joining the party too late. Expecting my first on 20th September. Don't know why I haven't thought about Mumsnet as a place to talk to others yet!

Anyway, very very excited and reasonably easy pregnancy. Don't feel like I ever got the second trimester boost of energy or glow however...

Bump is measuring slightly big so having extra growth scans next week but apart from that, being tired, and a bad lower back I feel pretty positive!

Hope no one minds me crashing Smile

Stroan · 28/06/2019 08:59

@kyles101 that sounds like an ideal breakfast to me, my numbers would be pretty good on that. You might find you tolerate different types of bread differently so it's trial and error. Hovis seed sensations works well for me.

@thecraicdealer rolling over in bed is getting nearly impossible now and so painful it's made me cry. DH offers me a shove. No thanks!

It's been about 26 degrees here (central Scotland) which is too hot for me when not pregnant. Although our garden gets the sun until about 10pm so i've been sitting out there with my feet in a bucket of cold water every night!

easterbuns1 · 28/06/2019 09:01

Twittlebee that's what we are here for, I'm sure we are all glad to hear your updates and that baby is still where they are supposed to be!

Heat isn't too bad up here, it's warm but not unbearably so. I'm going to attempt to sit out for a wee while today. Older two are off to their dad after school so I'm looking forward to a weekend of doing very little, although there has been talk of visiting civilisation to go get last bits for hospital bag.

kyles101 · 28/06/2019 09:17

Thanks @Stroan it was so interesting to read about higher sugar levels before you've eaten in the morning, it had never occurred to be before that not having breakfast could be doing more harm than good, and a good breakfast can actually lower values. I'm struggling getting my head around needing "some (good) carbs" at every meal but I guess we want to keep away from Ketosis is that right?

Have you tried rolling under by the way? I do find it slightly easier but it doesn't hurt quite enough yet for me to remember to do it all the time.

Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 09:34

@kyles101
They asked us to eat as we would normally for the rest of the day after clinic (but take readings) then adjust diet from the next morning. I made the most of it by having a last McDonalds and a risotto.

I've found a Hovis seeded low carb bread which is working well so far - enables me to have 2 slices of toast and a sandwich at lunch as I am really limited as to what I can do at work. I'm happy to have the same breakfast and lunch every day whilst at work to keep it simple.
I'm off next week so will have bacon and eggs for breakfast then a big salad for lunch, but no time for that on a work day.

What is annoying though is that I have had the same breakfast at the same time 3 mornings in a row and the results have been wildly different (all under target) despite my fasting reading being very similar.

Walking immediately after eating makes a big difference though to my lunch reading. Sadly no time for that in the eves as I have to eat so late.

I'm still having no trouble turning over fortunately, still comfy. But bump is all upfront so perhaps that is why? It doesn't seem to impact on me much yet despite it's huge size!

Stroan · 28/06/2019 10:11

@kyles101 yes, that's right. I struggle with it a little as I don't really eat many carbs when not pregnant. I'd find it quite easy to cut them completely so ofen have to force myself to add some.

Another tricky thing is that as you get more pregnant, your tolerance for certain things can changes. I was fine having a wrap for lunch but the numbers are starting to creep up now. I find the constant adjustment quite hard, constantly thinking about food when nauseous is rubbish!

@megan2018 it's really frustrating isn't it? There's just so many variables at play. To be honest, I can test different fingers at the same time and get different readings. It's why they don't react to the odd high reading but are looking for patterns.

boodles101 · 28/06/2019 10:37

florencenotflo we are off to Woburn. It's alot flatter there and relatively small so won't be too much walking around. Just going to let DS run wild, lots of swimming and tire him right out.

boodles101 · 28/06/2019 10:41

HEFebery welcome! Never too late to join us. Glad to hear your pregnancy is going well so far.

HEFebery · 28/06/2019 10:51

Also huge huge well done and hats off to those of you going through pregnancy when you already have other little ones running around, genuinely have no idea how you do it haha!

TwittleBee · 28/06/2019 11:03

I've not been to the Centre Parcs but love that neck of the woods, been there a few times due to work. Ampthill is such a lovely historic market town with a great Listed Park too! The rugby club often has good events on too @boodles101

TwittleBee · 28/06/2019 11:03

Also welcome @HEFebery !! Glad you found us!

OP posts:
Megan2018 · 28/06/2019 11:12

Enjoy @boodles101
I used to ride my horse around Woburn woods before Centre Parcs was built (I used to live in MK and Cranfield).

Florencenotflo · 28/06/2019 11:32

I like Woburn! It is smaller, but I've never been to the longleat one, so I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully all the walking and hills will get baby into a good position!

We've got a brilliant lodge too with sauna and hot tub (booked before I was pregnant) which obviously now I can't go in 😩 but I can sit next to it with my non alcoholic beer while the rest of them go in it! There's 7 of us so it should still be a laugh.

kyles101 · 28/06/2019 13:04

Well that was interesting. I lost interest in the nutritional talk when fruit juices, smoothies were ok, meals should be based around carbs including pasta - white is fine apparently- cous cous is a grain and low fat fruit yoghurts are better than natural Greek yoghurt. The diabetic nurse to be fair was looking fairly sceptical about what the dietician was saying and kept trying to steer things back.

Straight into it for us @Megan2018 no final meals lol!! Just had crustless quiche salad hummus and a pear.

We have to test 1 hour after meals, and be below 7.8 with before breakfast being below 5.3 - does that sound similar? A little worried as 2 hours after breakfast I was 6.9 so maybe I will have to knock the bread on the head too... will see how it goes.

How are you doing @TwittleBee ?
