I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

I don't look pregnant at all from behind lol

EdieMcredie · 15/08/2007 13:01

Chatty

Think it means trace of protein and white blood cells(?). I sometimes have protein trace in mine.

Hopeitwontbebig · 15/08/2007 16:07

Afternoon all,

My neck's feeling a tad better today. DH thinks it might have been stress that brought it on. V odd, just bam out of the blue, my neck went into spasm. Still v sore, but I feel able to function a bit more now.

I have read everyone's posts - promise!

Sophus, I'm SO glad your Mum is getting out of hospital, such good news, let's hope that her stay at home is as long as possible.

CHattyhan, I'm glad your scan went well.

amy, hope your ecv went/is going well, you're brave!!

Mmoomar, so sorry to hear about your Mum. Such an unfair time for these things to happen.

ccpink, how is your Mum coping with the chemo?

Re private rooms, I stayed one night when I had DS1 and it was one of the worst night's sleep ever, if DS wasn't crying, someone else's baby was. With DS2 I was on a 4 hour discharge so didn't have to stay in at all. I might be having a caesarean with this LO and if at all possible, I REEEEEEEEALLY want my own room!

Hopeitwontbebig · 15/08/2007 16:07

PS, Twitmonster (loving the name by the way! Girl after my own heart), impressive bump!

TwitmonstEr · 15/08/2007 16:10

glad you're feeling better.

MrsBumblebee · 15/08/2007 16:18

Hi all. No posts yet today as have spent most of it building the Ikea chest of drawers we bought for the nursery yesterday (with dh's help). As usual with Ikea, went in for one thing and came out with about five, including a rocking moose . Cute though. Also got a Poang chair for breastfeeding - it was recommended by someone else on MN, and it's seriously comfortable. Nursery's looking quite nice, now, and dh has decided he's going to decorate the walls with giant jungle stickers. What's more, he's upstairs right now going through the baby names book at last .

Hope Amy's scan is going well.

ElenorRigby · 15/08/2007 16:32

Eeeek just had a bloody show!!!

kinki · 15/08/2007 16:32

Wah hey! My bp has gone back down, protein is still only a trace, and bloods were fine, so they're not overly concerned about pre-eclampsia. I was so relieved don't think I could have coped with anything else going wrong. I had a scan and the baby is measuring just within limits, and is a whopping 6lb at 34 weeks. Eek. Ds1 was only 5lb 14 when he was born. No wonder my bump isn't as neat as some of your pictures! Hopey, can you beat 6lb at 34wks?? Still, I don't mind at all as I'm having a section. I also don't mind that in the last 2 weeks he's turned from cephalic to breech. Obviously there's still room to grow if he can waltz around like that.

Hey, that reminds me, has anyone else had this embarrassing situation? Dh parked the car last night in a car park. There was a reasonable amount of room either side of the car, but I couldn't squeeze out of the car, there just wasn't enough room. I was a bit mortified! Oh how hilarious it was when the whole family pissed themselves laughing at me! Another thing I can't do now is reach the top shelves of our kitchen cupboards. I'm a bit of a shortarse anyway, but now I can't get close enough to reach up high. Reaching my feet in the shower is a bit of a challenge lately too. And to cap it all ds1 anounced that he can no longer reach all the way around me when he gives me a hug!

What else can you no longer do?

Can I share a really sweet moment I had today? Ds2 is 2.6, in the middle of the packed ANC he shouted "I want to kiss my baby" and ran up to me, stretched up and kissed, cuddled and stroked my bump. He did it for a few mins. It was so sweet. Not so endearing was the moment he yanked down my low cut top to show everyone my (quite transparent) bra. And shouted "boobies".

Good luck ElenorRigby!!

hayley2u · 15/08/2007 16:53

my baby was measured last week and consultant said it looks if she weighs 9 pound. i'm mortified, what a whoppa and still got 4 weeks to go. thank god i'm having c section but i thought girls were supposed to be dainty.
what i cant do.just went for a shop n tesco with my ds. istarted shopping when i realised i actually going to be able to reach the bottom of trolley ton take things out. had to go out and get one of the smaller higher trollies instead, because could not feel the shame lol

kyala · 15/08/2007 17:39

Hello ladies! Hope you're all well today, I've been in agony since I woke up this mornign but it's all achy feeling and twinges, no labour pains, and today was the one day this week that I'd decided to go mega shopping with a friend too so spent most of the day stopping every 5 mins, ho-hum!!

MrsMar: LOL I don't blame you, if you put in all that hard work of course it's "your's all your's!!" And January to April isn't that long so you'll definately cope better than we have the past 2 years, hope the child care costs aren't too bad where you are either.

Kinki: LOL don't blame you for not wanting more! We're stopping at this one (our 2nd), that was always my plan and we're re-inforcing that by DH having the snip too!! Also Roisin came up for us too this time, and DH thought it looked like the name of a sauce when written down, was astounded when I told him that he had chosen the blooming name, he just didn't know how to spell it LOL
Lucky you being able to wear pre-maternity trousers still!
Glad all's well with test results etc.
I too am having to give up opening/closing the kitchen window, above the sink, as DH is a bit shorter than I am so if I have trouble he's got no chance!! But I was very proud of myslef last night, in the bath, managing to drag a razor over my legs (still not entirely sure that I got it all though!)
LOL @ boobies though, my DD loves that word! She too has become very sweet towards the bump, she likes to look at it though, whcih was slightly embarrassing on the bus this morn, she has to uncover the whole thing, not just the top part that has no stretch marks LOL

ECATLM: at "£40+ for shoes which last six weeks " I worry about spending £10 on DD's shoes and they're lasting her about 6 months at a time now LOL, and still haven't been to Clarks (mind you we've got a ShoeZone here so about £5 is the average for 2 yo's shoes LOL)
"A girl needs to look good for that first journey, no?! " I'm with you on that one! Got to dig out a couple of really good outfits (one NB size and one 0-3 mnth just in case it's a biggun!)

amyclaramum: good luck/how'd it go? Hope all's well!

Twitmonster: My bump looks quite similar (I'm guessing, can't angle the camera that way to see LOL) Nice and neat!

Flossalump: Go on spend the extra cash on pampering!! You know you want to Also love that top you're wearing in the pic! Went off shopping today and kept coming across gorgeous tops like that but didn't see the point in buying them now, only 4 weeks left, may as well wait til LO's born now LOL

Chattyhan: Well done/Congrats on LO catching up! Ooh your weekend will be something to look forward too, wish I could have another weekend off now LOL

HIWBB: Glad you're feeling a bit better today, probably just a pulled muscle or something then.

Hayley2U: What's your due date? Mine's the 12th of September, we must be very close to each other then!

One of the women that I used to work with is due on the 14th, and her DD was also born within a month of my DD too, very strange as she had spent her whole first marriage trying to convince her DH that they should/would like children, she got rid of him (for other reasons) and within a couple of months of new BF was pregnant, same time as me LOL Not that that's relevant to anything but there you go, just a random fact for you!! LOL

Anywhoop, hope everyone's evening goes well, I had £30 given to me, for a pushchair, this evening so I'm going to do my GBS test tomorrow morning and send the check off with that (Yayy!) Finger's crossed everyone! Also, does anyone need/know anyone that needs a tandem 3 wheel pushchair? We've got one going for about £80 and it's only been used 3 times!! Tried advertising it in local papers etc but no luck so far so if anyone wants it we'll find out the postage etc (think it's about £20 for Parcelforce, judging by approx weight)

Good night ladies
xxx

hayley2u · 15/08/2007 17:48

hi kyala
my babys due date is the 15th september, but been taken in any time from the 8 th for elective c section, but dont get date until end of august

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 15/08/2007 19:15

kyala, brent cross needs a shoe zone. clarkes were rubbish so ended up in russell and bromley. not known for their keen pricing policy.

only up side was children's shop not in adult store so at least I didn't have to look at all the lovely shoes i could wear if only i was in possession of a swollen bank balance rather than puffy ankles and spreading feet.

honestly, you should see my legs - comedy pregnant woman straight out of central casting!

MrsMar · 15/08/2007 20:01

Hello from a rainy London town!!
I'm still able to reach my feet, but I'm sure that's cos the baby's still transverse... no chance otherwise! I can pick things up off the floor but there's a bit of huff and puff and I do have to spread my legs a bit and doing shoes up leaves me completely breathless. If I didn't have these damn verruca plasters all over my feet I'd be in flip flops everyday!!

Has anyone heard from amyclaramum - I do hope the ecv didn't bring on labour or mean they had to do a cs!

Kyala - I hope your aches and pains are better now. I'm sure I'll be fine on the money front, I do have some savings to dip in to in a shopping emergency Unfortunately childcare is extortionate here, I'm going to use my sisters cm, she's brilliant and really flexible, which as a shift worker I need, but it's going to cost me £1000 a month approximately !!

fio - crikey, better get packing eh??? How exciting. Did the mw give a size estimate?

Kinki - that's good news about your bp and urine results. It sounds like your one is going to be a biggun!!! I almost got stuck getting in to the car today too, I went to visit my mum's new flat and someone had put a bike really close to my car so it was a bit touch and go as to whether I could get back in.... I've still got a small bump, about the same size as MrsFish at 33 weeks, cos of his position, so I'm sure that's the only reason I managed to get in!! at your ds... what a cutie!!

HIWBB - so glad your neck is getting better - take it easy and try and relax as much as possible

chatty - great news your growth scan went ok, but at the spd and crutches. I hope you do manage to get some rest.

Floss - what a lovely thing for your mum to do, enjoy spending the money!!

twitmonster - wow, what a bump!!!

I've got an evening to myself as dh is at footy, of course I'm he's not here but secretly a bit cos I get to dominate the tv remote control and sprawl across the sofa

Have a lovely evening everyone

xx

canadianmum · 15/08/2007 20:12

chatty - TR definitely means Trace so nothing to worry about, its pretty normal at this stage.

Amy - hope the ECV went well, please tell us all about it, as I think there are a few (incl me) who might need it!!

mrsmar- totally understand what you mean about the independence/feminism thing. I left home at 18 and earned my own way until 32 when I had my boys. Since then I have lived off DH and it does get easier to cope with. DH likes to wind me up sometimes and call me a leech or a gold-digger but I know he doesn't mean it (he would be castrated ). It was interesting when we arranged life insurance, DH had to acknowledge how much he would have to pay someone to do all the jobs I do. A bit morbid, but it makes the point! Remember that you'll be on 24/7 baby duty until you go back to (paid) work!

We might go for the tour again this saturday, I will ask about private rooms. I got a private room for a few nights last time (at Kings) as I had prem twins and it was so much more restful than the noisy, hot, busy ward.

HIWBB - your poor neck, ice it as much as you can - do you have an osteopath? Have total sympathy after my neck-wrenching stuck gherkin jar lid crisis .

re: puffy feet, my feet went from 38 to 39 last time and didn't go back, am praying they stay 39 this time so I can wear my favourite shoes after lo arrives (am living in flip flops and Birks at the moment!).

I am looking forward to scan on Monday to find out what position this baby is in - really hoping it will be head down.

Should I change my name to Hopeitwontbebreech???

MrsFish · 15/08/2007 21:41

MrsMar - thanks for calling my bump small Lo is really going for the acrobatics tonight, he hasn't stopped moving for the past hour and a half, but he is really causing me to have some bad heartburn which is saying something seeing as I have only eaten a ham roll since my lunch at 2pm.

The weather has been crap here today lots of rain but still quite muggy too. Going to a wedding on saturday and they are having a marquee in their field... saw the weather report tonight... rain covering the entire country for saturday maybe I should swap the suede shoes I have just bought for some crocs?

motherhysteria · 16/08/2007 07:31

Hi everyone

It's AmyClaraMum's sister here.

She asked me to update you all on her news.

Unfortunately the ECV didn't work yesterday despite two doctors having two goes at it!!

My poor sister now has to stay in hospital to be monitored and they'll decide what can happen next - either a c-section, another ECV or hopefully baby will turn round of her own accord. She is one of a long line of stubborn babies/children in our family though!!!!

Anyway, as you can imagine my sister is NOT happy about staying in and was well p'eed off yesterday.

I'll let you know more news when I hear from her today.

Hope you are all doing ok.

dal21 · 16/08/2007 07:47

Motherhysteria - thank you for the update on amy clara - please let her know we are thinking of her and willing the baby to turn!
Mrs M/ Kyala - sorry about the news on location of hiccups and bubs being breech! Am not going to worry about it yet, will see what happens over the next few weeks.

Enormous and others - re the waterproofing sheets. If you buy the hippy chick protector sheets that fit into cots, they are big enough to cover the side of the bed you sleep on incase your waters do break in bed. Then once you are done, can fit onto the cot! Thats what I am doing anyhows...

Twit - loving the new name!

Hello to everyone else! I am finally on maternity leave! Hoorah!! Feel lazy next to the women i read are working 2 weeks/ 10 days before the birth - well done to you all!
I will look at the contact details and mail them out to everyone later today/ tomorrow (cannot decide whether to head out and do some shopping! decisions, decisions huh??)

FilBrit · 16/08/2007 08:11

Hello everyone from the hot sunny Philippines where's it's currently 35 degrees - ouch!

I'm sorry not to have posted for ages, we had a few problems with our internet connection but thankfully all is now fixed. I've tried to catch up on everyone's news (and get to know people who've joined since I last posted!) - so much has happened, apologies for no individual messages but otherwise my post would be so long.

I'm doing well, althought my bump is huge and I'm starting to get worried about how much weight I have to lose once my LO has arrived, I keep trying to pretend I'm actually just really swollen in the heat but to be honest it's got a lot more to do with the amount of MandMs I've been eating! I've been struggling in the heat a bit but am now starting to adjust. I've also started to make some new friends which is really helping me settle in. I still have to have an elective c section (bit scared about this !)as my placenta has not moved up and it may be as early as August 25! but I'm discussing dates with my doctor next week, so it could change... If it is the 25th will that make me the first or is someone else going to beat me to it?!

It's lovely to be back on mumsnet and on our thread I've really missed hearing all your news and seeing how everyone is getting on....

Love FilBrit X

FilBrit · 16/08/2007 08:20

Dal21 - I know I havne't posted for ages but please can I still join the email group? Would you please be able to remind me of your email address for me to send my details to? Thanks
