Hello @forevercurious I had my anti D injection yesterday. I have B- blood. The injection was a sharp scratch and I had it at the top of my bum. Wasn’t a big deal at all. Just like having the contraceptive injection if you’ve ever had that?
First baby here so totally worth having it to protect any future babies. Did your midwife explain why you needed it?

P.s I’m due on the 29th Nov so have been lurking on this thread just in case baby decides on making a late entrance (hello all!)

@badfurday yes really struggling I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and it's horrible to sleep I have to have a pillow in between my legs to get comfy even a tiny bit.

I've got my glucose tolerance test today so in hospital until nearly lunch time. The drink was a bit like flat lucozade, it was alright to begin with but then towards the end of the drink i was starting to struggle to finish it.

@Kate3150 the anti D injection is because of my blood group, if you needed it your midwife would have let you know. Yes I generally sleep on my left hand side. How are you doing? :)

@Hayesdays that’s reassuring to here, when I last spoke to my midwife about it she said it was a big injection and I may not want it in my arm which worried me slightly. I’ve never had the contraceptive injection so can’t compare unfortunately.

Yes my midwife explained why, my blood type is O Neg. completely agree it’s better to protect future pregnancies and babies :) xx

@forevercurious good stuff! Ye I’d recommend the bum for preferred location (haha!) it was a bit sore after so wouldn’t fancy it in my arm especially as we are supposed to be sleeping on our sides. But it really wasn’t bad so nothing to worry about Smile
I was quite worried about it too, but joined a few groups and talked to other mums about their experiences and it seems like as long you have the injections you’ll be fine and so will future babies, which I found very reassuring.

The anti d injection is only for those women who have rhesus negative blood (so anyone with 0-, A-, B- etc etc). It's in case your baby is positive blood type which would mean at birth you would produce an immune response that attacks the positive blood. Therefore if future subsequent births had positive blood types it can be fatal for the baby. Just for anyone worrying! The science behind these things are unfortunately generally not explained to people.

I don't have an issue sleeping through the night, I'm just uncomfortable before and after waking up.. and I've got pillows everywhere! Lol

Thanks for explaining it better than I could have @Dec19baby.

I slept from 10:15 and didn’t wake up until 5:30 this morning - first time in weeks I’ve slept that long with no wake ups 🎉 I still feel exhausted though.

When is everyone packing their hospital bag? I’ve 11 weeks to go and it’s all starting to feel v.v real now!! I was thinking maybe 6 weeks to go and I’ll pack?

Im due 22nd December and so I keep thinking to myself once I go off work (4 weeks annual leave before due date) I'll pack my bag. Got plenty of advice on what to pack, but don't know what bag to put it in? I think I might have to buy one specifically? I only have the hand luggage suitcases Hmm

Report
bobble53 · 17/09/2019 10:28

I’d imagine the small suitcase is fine or a hold-all? I have no idea what to pack for myself!

Hey girls, I just took 2 large hold bags when I had my LO last year one bag for my stuff and one for babies things, I took a plastic bag for worn things too and my OH brought it home to be washed so it didn't end up in my bag with my clean clothes
I think I'm going to pack mine in the next 2-3 weeks I got admitted early last time so it was a nightmare flapping about finding last minute bits to take with me lol

@bobble53 I'm gonna treat myself to a nice shampoo/conditioner and some nice expensive body wash & body butter so I feel nice after birth, probably get a few bits from body shop, they do a lovely ginger range at the minute that smells like Christmas
And a nice razor too! It's so amazing being able to see your legs to shave afterwards lol
I've told family that if they want to get me anything for Christmas this year just get me pjs & nice slippers & socks (things like that) I'm looking forward to lounging about being all warm and comfortable with my baby boys 😍 it's getting very exiting now

Is anyone else having to have extra growth scans? Because my 1st baby was small I’m having monthly scans now and at 26 weeks they’re saying this one is in the bottom 10% for size. Not sure what to make of it - my first turned out fine so not too worried. This baby weighs just under two pounds which feels heavy enough already!

Not even thinking about packing my hospital bag yet... second time round I’ll probably pack the week before my due date!

Anyone having an elective c section? I’ll be having mine W/C 12th December! Have been looking at pamper bits for myself for afterwards like creams for tummy and also organic pads for me to wear 😂 so glamourous! But I’m a bit of an organic freak so try to buy where I can.
I’ve done nothing baby wise... apart from buy some wipes. I just don’t know where to start xx

Anyone else suffering from pelvic girdle pain? I've been fine until last Friday (27 weeks now basically) and it's really really sore to walk, and get up and down from seats, in and out of car etc. Phoned antenatal and they said it sounds like pelvic girdle pain and so I've got a physio appointment at the clinic next week. Mine seems to be flaring up rather than being constant? Pain Friday, then fine until Wednesday, better Thursday as day went on, fine for a bit then really sore now again... Sad starting to get me down, and also worrying about work as I work 12 hour shifts at times including nights (in NHS)

Report
badfurday · 20/09/2019 19:01

@Dec19baby yep I am too. I'm nearly 30 weeks and wondering how I'm going to carry on working! Also in the nhs.
Midwife asked me to self refer to physio last week but not heard anything. I've got a bump band but it doesn't seem to help much. I'm just glad the end is in sight now!!

Please don't say that, I was really hoping a band might help Sad I feel really lucky I'm getting physio so soon.. really counting on it!
I'm taking note of when I get the pain for a few weeks before my next midwife appointment and if it's worse I think I'm gonna need to come off my 12hr shifts. I didn't think it would be so soon, feels like it's not late on enough to be struggling.. stupid thinking I know!

I don't have pgp... Back ache a bit, CV uncomfortable is standing long periods.

Bit i do have leg cramps and rls and it is sooo annoying.

I want to least as long as possible at work but already wrote uncomfortable! Ankles swollen all the time. And this bump is running away with itself. I don't know where else she thinks she's going to go cos there is no room up and no room down and no room in!

Dec19baby I'm really struggling with pelvic pain. It's been increasingly bad for a month & km now signed off work for the next 2 weeks. I have a pregnancy band & GP prescribed pain relief but neither are helping. I'm waiting for physio & was recommended to book an app't wiry an osteopath. Hoping they held so I'll be able to go back to work before line runs out.

I had no idea pelvic pain could be so awful!

@FluffyCloudsInTheSky I don't think I'm as bad as you then, coz I'm just struggling on, but can't see me doing any 12 hour night shifts, but I'm waiting for my physio and midwife app this week and next. Can't believe how long some people have to wait for physio!! It's shocking! I'm very lucky I got to go to a clinic within a week! I just generally feel really shitty atm Sad uncomfortable, big, and and sore, even at the times the PGP is milder. These next 13 weeks can't come fast enough in my book..

I'm approaching 29 weeks. Has anyone experienced a really tight sensation across the top of their abdomen? Seems to be permanent. Ftm here so unsure of this us just a standard uncomfortable feeling.
