Had a very embarrassing moment today. Went back to GP to check infection has cleared before my scan on Friday and they needed a urine sample. I couldn't "perform" despite trying in the loo for 10mins, I got stage fright 🙈 He told me to wait, do one when I could then tell reception and he'd come and get me. When I eventually got my sample, I quietly told the receptionist, just as my GP popped his head out his room. She SCREAMED across the reception, waiting room and down the corridor "GREEEEG, THAT WOMAN WITH THE URINE SAMPLE IS WAITING IN THE WAITING ROOM, THE ONE WHO COULDNT WEE, SHES GOT HER URINE NOW AND SHES WAITING". Oh my GOSH I wanted the ground to swallow me up 😂😂😂 there were about 30 people waiting!!

On the plus side, UTI has cleared and I'm completely fit and well. And my OH is back tomorrow 😁😁 Downside, came very close to puking outside the Dr's surgery. Skipping breakfast isnt an option anymore!!!

Thanks for the reply @HungryPanda92. Im really not enjoying this bit, just feel so worried something will go wrong & 5 weeks still to get to 12 weeks seems like a lifetime away! So nice were all in the same boat together though!

DaisyMay25 · 05/06/2019 12:26

@Mirana haha you poor thing! I'm glad all is good though embarrassment aside!

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 13:02

@poposaurus I know exactly how you feel. I want to just enjoy it but every day feels like a week haha.

@Mirana You couldn't make it up. At least it wasn't a stool sample I guess!

beth3735 · 05/06/2019 13:23

Good luck everyone who has their scans today. I had my initial booking in appointment today with the midwife, she is coming to the house next week to finish it off.
She is worried because I’ve had 2 weeks of on and off spotting and will call the EPU today to see what they recommend. Either way I have a private scan booked for Sunday anyway to see what’s going on.

SleepingStandingUp · 05/06/2019 13:28

@HungryPanda92 it might have changed by the time your Mum had you assuming you were born in 92, but when my mum had me, yoshe didn't even get scans. You waited for a period or two to be missed, waited to feel kicks, assumed it would be fine cos no one talked about it not being. I think that totally changes the landscape of early pregnancy. And now early scans are so accessible of course more people will have them. It's as fine to do so as it is to not.

@poposaurus not sure what the official protocol is, but Sonographer only turned5our screen on when she had a clear ic and heartbeat. I assume they must have policy about breaking bad news, they can hardly refuse to show you the. Tell you to pop into the gp's sometime in the next week. I don't know if it would be better or worse who told me, except that I'd prefer to know earlier not later.
But it's what works for you that matters x

poposaurus · 05/06/2019 13:39

Thanks @SleepingStandingUp, I agree its better to know I guess! God its all so nerve racking!! xx

SleepingStandingUp · 05/06/2019 13:52

It is, and the saker you test, the longer that lasts!! I do think it's was harder for us in some ways that 30/40+ years ago

MoominMantra · 05/06/2019 14:02

I had my booking appointment today. Midwife was really nice. Bloods taken, etc. I mentioned my worry about the rhesus negative thing and midwife said they can now find out what blood type baby has before he or she is born!

I'm going to try not to have a scan until my 12 week appointment.

raligator · 05/06/2019 15:04

@glittergirl I’m with you! I’m another one just waiting for the 12 week scan, but that’s now less than 2 weeks for me (:

Good luck to those who have decided to have early scans, hope you all see some lovely images!

mynameisMrG · 05/06/2019 15:26

Hi ladies, thank you for all the good wishes. Baby is still tucked up there nicely with it’s heart beating away. Measuring 9 weeks so that’s good. Still showing two bleeds but they shouldn’t affect baby. Now to wait to see if we get to the 12 week mark

I made it through the review without vomiting on anyone 🎉🎉 thank god for sea bands!
@Mirana I was actually really close to putting detol in the bath once but I googled and there was a man who died in Manchester from bathing in detol but I think he was bathing in neat detol and rubbing it on his skin throughout the day. I decided I better not risk it as I might take things too far 😂
@HungryPanda92 I would have an early scan but live rural so there is not much choice and all very expensive so I can't really warrant it. Ignore your mum, you are aloud to feel nervous and the technology and opportunities are around to ease your fears these days so why wouldn't you pay for peace of mind!!
If there was an issue with your scan it wouldn't be a doctor who broke the news, when it happened to me it was the sonographer told me there and then what the issue was, we were then ushered out to a different waiting room so we didn't upset the other mums to be waiting on their scans! It was a very traumatic experience but It might have actually been nicer in a private clinic to be honest! Sorry that was a bit doom and gloom!!

KMic · 05/06/2019 15:40

Baby is ABSOLUTELY FINE!!!! Measuring at 7+6 which is 4 days less than I thought but that's grand by me!! It's happy and healthy and the bleed hasn't affected anything!!! 😍 thanks for your support ladies xx

mynameisMrG · 05/06/2019 15:56

Aw that’s such good news @KMic! I told you we just had naughty little beans 😊

Brilliant news

KMic · 05/06/2019 15:59

We really do @mynameisMrG !!! 🤣

MoominMantra · 05/06/2019 16:07

@KMic and @mynameisMrG I'm really glad your babies are ok. I would quite like to have an early scan but it makes me anxious so I'm going to try to wait it out 😬

MoominMantra · 05/06/2019 16:15

The sickness is horrible because it's not like when youve got a bug and it's so kind of in the background sometimes I wonder if I'm imagining it!

Bluebelltulip · 05/06/2019 16:17

@MynameisMrsG and @KMic great news on your scans. @Cannyhandleit glad you weren't sick.

I wanted an early scan a few weeks ago but around me they are £90, I could probably have got one through the NHS due to my loss but decided against it for now. I didn't want to have one too early and create more uncertainty. Now 8 weeks and hoping I get my 12 week scan date through soon so that I can prepare myself for that.

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 16:27

@KMic & @mynameisMrG so glad everything is okay for both of you!

Anon120 · 05/06/2019 16:31

@KMic @mynameisMrG congratulations x

Bentley111 · 05/06/2019 16:36

@KMic & @mynameisMrG fantastic news, so pleased for you both! Naughty beans!!!

BowiesJumper · 05/06/2019 16:59

Glad the scans have gone well today! Hurrah! I had loads of bleeding with my first pregnancy and all was well, no idea why I bled loads! No bleeding with this one thankfully.

I feel sick most of the time at the moment, but haven't actually been sick, so that's something! I find I need to graze a lot, which helps for a couple of mins, but then stops helping... And my appetite and reduced overall. Although I've not lost any weight. Sigh.

KMic · 05/06/2019 17:00

Thanks everyone xxx

coconutlatte44 · 05/06/2019 17:27

Congrats @KMic, that's great news.

Re: telling/not telling, I didn't tell anyone first time around and found it really difficult having to tell people that I had been pregnant but had a mc.

This time around I told my family right away so they can support if needed, and I've told a few friends who have supported me through the mc. If it happened again I wouldn't want it to come out of the blue again.
