@TheOnlyMrsA I def read that left is optimum, that on your back past 20 or so weeks can suppress blood flow due to the weight. Lying on your left stops squashing of the liver and improves blood flow. I think short bursts on your right are fine

JTpreg · 04/06/2019 22:10

I’ll be 6+2 tomorrow first pregnancy. Feel like wall of tiredness hits me at 3pm then have to rely on snacks to get me through. Sore boobs. Sensitive skin all over to touch. Not feeling massively nauseous yet. I had positive PT last Monday so I’m not sure it’s sunk in. I go from excitement to terrified constantly. Having early private scan tomorrow. Probably a bit too early really as might not show FH (Fetal heart) but 🤞🏻

mynameisMrG · 04/06/2019 22:20

Ooh quite a few scans tomorrow, good luck everyone. The tiredness is crippling me as well, it’s definitely the hardest thing for me so dar

Yes my consultant last time said mainly from the 2nd trimester onwards to sleep on your left if you can coz sleeping on your right can restrict blood flow, sleeping on your back can cause serious back problems but if you can slept in your left it increases blood flow it's best for the baby! I have consultant led care so she told me this last time xx

Chips84 · 05/06/2019 05:37

Good luck to all of you having a scan today x

Bentley111 · 05/06/2019 06:59

Aww thank you @DaisyMay25, @TheOnlyMrsA and @mynameisMrG Thanks

It definitely helped thinking of the little bean dancing away when my head was down the loo at 5am.

Good luck to those having scans today xx

TheOnlyMrsA · 05/06/2019 07:53

@JTpreg that's interesting, the private scan places near me don't do them till at least 7 weeks! Good luck hope you see a heartbeat I saw one at 6+4 on mine but it was a internal scan with the EPU.

Good luck to all you mommas having scans today.

How are we all feeling today!? Xox

plipliop · 05/06/2019 08:01

Good luck @mynameisMrG

MummyBearBoo · 05/06/2019 08:06

Good luck to all of you having a scan today - I've had to resort to wearing a sports bra at night it's the only thing that works for my sore boobs - I remember when I was pregnant with DD I had to get some night time nursing bras and they are tight like a sports bra coz anything else was too painful!! Xx

anitagreen · 05/06/2019 08:53

Good luck today everyone will be thinking of you all, this thread has been like a god send to me I'm really struggling with anxiety again atm I did have a course of CBT that helped so much but I feel so down with it I've forgotten my coping strategies

Cannyhandleit · 05/06/2019 10:21

I feel like I am really going to be sick, normal food eases the nausea but I can't stomach anything! I have to be at my sons nursey in 39 mins for an educational review that has already been delayed and is very important so I can't cancel! Hopefully I don't vomit on the table!

Bluebelltulip · 05/06/2019 10:24

@Cannyhandleit I hope you get through the review ok. I'm feeling awful this morning and really hoping I perk by the time I need to pick my toddler up after lunch.

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 11:00

So I've not been very active on here, this whole forum thing is pretty new to me and trying to figure out what to say sets my anxiety off but I just want some reassurance.

I've booked an early scan for next Wednesday when I'll be 7+3 because I'm just so worried that there's going to be something wrong. I'm not having any particular symptoms other than sore boobs and strange dreams but I can't stand the idea of waiting till the 12 week scan which wouldn't be till mid July just to be told something awful.

I told my mum that I'd booked it and she basically said it's a waste of time and money and I'm just being stupid. Apparently when she was pregnant with me and my brother she was jumping for joy and basically implied if I can't just be happy about it there must be something wrong with me.

Am I being ridiculous booking this early scan? I was actually letting myself get excited about it and now I just feel stupid...

Sorry for the massive post.

TheOnlyMrsA · 05/06/2019 11:10

@HungryPanda92

Don't let anyone make you feel that way. When your mum was pregnant with you women hid away about miscarriages and infant loss. It was taboo and women didn't know the reality that some babies just didn't stick for no reason.

Plus they didn't find out they where pregnant 1 week before their period was due... most women waited to see a GP / buy a pregnancy test in the chemist 2 weeks after a missed period so the 12 week wait wasn't as long.

I've lost 3 babies; this is my 4th pregnancy but (hopefully) my first baby. This is the furthest I've ever gotten at nearly 7 weeks.

I've had two nhs scans already and I'll be having a private one 2 weeks before my 12 week scan! Xox

DaisyMay25 · 05/06/2019 11:16

@HungryPanda92 I don't think your being ridiculous with an early scan at all!
I had one at 6+1 and 9+1 with my fertility clinic and my nhs one isn't until 12+6, there is no way I could've waited until that scan! My anxiety would've been through the roof!

No one can tell you that the way you're acting during your pregnancy is wrong, if you want a scan then you should have one, there's no harm!
There's nothing wrong with you, I think we're all a bit cautious at the moment, you're not alone in your worrying x

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 11:20

@TheOnlyMrsA

Thank you so much. I'm so sorry for your previous losses. I'm keeping everything crossed for you.

This is my first pregnancy and everything is just so daunting. I do have mild Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (not as scary as it sounds) and so I do struggle with my emotions anyway and tend to worry a lot about everything haha! I just really wanted some peace of mind as the not knowing is making me feel so depressed.

My mum knows about my mental health and shares a lot of my traits but is very much in denial so she tends to be quite dismissive. I guess I just need to try not to let it get to me.

Cindy61 · 05/06/2019 11:25

@HungryPanda92 my mum said something similar that I've wasted time and money for scan, i fuzz too much, when she had me she didn't get checkups until four months! She measured pregnancy in Months not weeks!

I just laughed it off! And I do love my mum. Surely it's a totally different era. I'm 32 so maybe not that different but you know what I mean. I feel so reassured after my scan last week (saw a heartbeat). I'm enjoying this pregnancy (my first) and feeling really peaceful despite some nausea and bad appetite. Just focus on what makes you happy and comfortable!! 😉

Glittergirl2 · 05/06/2019 11:32

Am I the only person who hasn't had an early scan or is anyone else waiting ? 🙈

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 11:35

@DaisyMay25 @Cindy61

Thank you! I love my mum to bits and it just gets to me when she disapproves of my choices. But you're all right, it's my pregnancy and I need to do what works for me.

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 11:37

@Glittergirl2 I didn't even know private scans were an option until I saw all the ones on here. I wasn't going to bother but the more I thought about it the more I couldn't help myself.

LillyLeaf · 05/06/2019 11:53

@HungryPanda92 this first stage is so hard mentally, it's all I think about. If I had to wait until 12 weeks I would be pulling my hair out. Do whatever makes you happy, this is the perfect time to focus on yourself.

We have kept this pregnancy to just me and DP (including the IVF) as I'm quite a private person but my mum is a recently retired midwife, I sometimes wish I could ask her questions but I also don't want her to know just yet, it that strange?

poposaurus · 05/06/2019 11:56

Whilst we are on the topic of private scans - the thing thats stopping me is going & them saying there is something wrong! It just feels like it would be better to be told by a doctor. Does that make sense? Is it a doctor who does the private scan?

Mirana · 05/06/2019 12:13

@Bentley111 Beautiful scan!!

Good luck to all the scans today :)

@Cannyhandleit The medical dettol you can use in the bath 😉 its completely safe. My Mum used to give us dettol baths when we had cuts and scrapes, I thought everyone did! It says on the labelling it's safe to bath in - just dont sit there huffing the water 😂😂

HungryPanda92 · 05/06/2019 12:14

@LillyLeaf I don't think it's strange at all. Like I said I'm a worrier generally and wanted people to know so that they might understand my mood swings and grumpiness a bit better but I also feel like now people do know it's a bit of a public affair haha. If there's a next time I probably would keep it between me and DP til 12 weeks.

@Poposaurus my scan will be done by a Sonographer not a doctor and if there are any issues they do just refer you back to your GP. I completely get what you're saying. It wouldn't be great to get bad news and then be able to do nothing about it until you can get to your doctor. I'm just hoping for the best.
