Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

@Giraffe888 we've got our antenatal class tomorrow 🙂

Kentishgal · 01/06/2019 20:56

That's so lovely Toria73 to have such fab friends, what a great support. Also love both names - my nephew is an Alexander but they shorten him to Xander.

Evening all, is anyone else finding themselves very hungry at night? I keep waking through the night to wee and feel constantly hungry...!
Any suggestions of good night time snacks if so?
Thanks x

StargazyDrifter · 01/06/2019 21:31

Not at night, but I do find myself suddenly really wanting to eat at random times. Then I do eat and the hyperemesis takes over. 😭😭😭 It has definitely crossed my mind that the hunger has increased in recent days, probably in connection with milk production/needing fat reserves for BF?

Yukka · 01/06/2019 21:38

Not me but my sis said she started having weetabix at about 4 am and then go back to bed, she felt starving all the time. The main time I’m hungry is first thing.

Capybaras · 02/06/2019 21:18

I have a constant supply of hobnobs by the side of the bed - I'm often waking DH up with a rustling packet in the middle of the night!

Seeinga few stories of people going into labour around the 34/35 week mark has kicked me into gear for getting things sorted! although we're still nowhere near ready to start the nursery so I'm basically just tidying up bits and bobs. Feel like we have everything now though (although I'm sure there will be something we have forgotten).

Hope everyone's had a great weekend - only 2 more week until mat leave for me! Can't wait!

Capybaras · 02/06/2019 21:28

Also does anyone have any recommendations for nursing bras (knew there was something I'd forgotten), I'm a G cup at the moment and people say your boobs get even bigger when your milk comes in so don't want to buy anything hugely expensive in case they're the wrong size.

BeckyButterfly · 02/06/2019 21:39

@Capybaras I'm a G cup normally as well but have sized up to a H and gone up a back size for comfort. I've bought a couple from Figleaves which are honestly the most comfortable things I've ever put on!

I also bought one for a website called Nursing Bra Stop which was only £13 and seems alright.

Like you, I'm unsure about the size because people have said they will get bigger when milk comes in but the ones form Figleaves have a bit of room to grow in them so I'll just have to see how I go. I only bought them because I needed some bras without underwire to wear whilst pregnant because all of my normal bras were so uncomfortable. I thought I might as well get ones that can double up as nursing bras rather than forking out twice hopefully.

BeckyButterfly · 02/06/2019 21:43

Nursing Bra Shop, sorry.
Link: www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/

And these are the Figleaves ones I bought:

www.figleaves.com/uk/figleaves-nursing-bra-d-h-cup/FIG-010302.html

They recently had 25% off as well so it is good to watch out for their discounts. If you sign up with your email address they will email you when they have discounts or sales. There was 15% off and free delivery just on, not sure if that's finished or not though.

thedust · 02/06/2019 21:47

@capybaras I got a 2 pack of nursing bras from marks and spencer for £32.50, they are in small, medium and large sizes so I got a medium so there's a bit of room there. I've wore them a few times but now packed in my hospital bag, seem comfy.

BeckyButterfly · 02/06/2019 21:50

@thedust they look nice. What size are you normally? I couldn't seem to find any in Marks that fit 😩

Capybaras · 02/06/2019 22:32

Thank you for the recommendations @BeckyButterfly @thedust will take a look at them all. Need to start thinking about nursing clothes too. You think you're sorted and another thing crops up! Had to buy another summer dress and top as I was struggling with my supply of mat clothes for hot weather. I'm flipping boiling all the time now

Jxtina86 · 02/06/2019 22:45

@Capybaras I thought I had enough mat clothes but like you, I'm constantly roasting so had to bite the bullet and get a few more bits especially as have a christening next weekend too...! I've gone for some button front dresses so that they can be hopefully used for nursing too. My friend recommended a group/website called 'can I breastfeed in it' which does a weekly round up of suitable clothes from a whole range of shops which looks good!

thedust · 03/06/2019 07:45

@BeckyButterfly pre-pregnancy I was like a 30DD. God knows what I am now! There is a size chart to see what size comes under small, medium, large, xl. If breastfeeding goes well I'll go and get measured properly in bravissimo probably and get a few nicer bras. I have a very small back and shoulders so finding bras that fit is always awkward.

Last week in work today and I've got my replacement coming in this morning. I've been awake between 2.30 and 5am so absolutely knackered and not in any mood to do a decent handover. Roll on next Monday when I could have a lie in and numerous naps!

BeckyButterfly · 03/06/2019 12:35

Thanks @thedust, that has always been my problem. I'm a 32G pre pregnancy and finding places that cater for small backs but big cups is very hard! I've always bought my bras from Mark's but now that I've gone into a H, they don't go up to that cup size. Very annoying!

Hope you all had a good weekend. So I was back at doctors today - now on my sixth course of antibiotics as this bronchitis just keeps coming back. Except this time I've got really bad piles so every time I cough its so painful and I can't sit down - got some cream from doctor but don't feel optimistic 😏 Every time I come on here it's for a whinge - I'm sorry 😖 also...I have tiny boobs that don't seem to have grown so I have no useful advice on that front!!

StargazyDrifter · 03/06/2019 16:30

Kentishgal nooooooo! Poor you. Not again! At this rate, you have earned yourself a model baby from the gods (whatever those are, let's hope they at least read MN!).

My only complaint lately is my poor, poor frazzled brain. It kind of scares me how little it now takes to overload it. One substantial task, like writing a long formal letter/note or writing up out a birth plan based on 3-4 books, and I'm in a foggy daze for the rest of the day. Gone are the days of being able to whizz through a massive list of chores and life admin on a day off, with the odd work email thrown in, and still going out in the evening. I hope not forever. ☹️ I've always been ready for the physical tiredness and aches and stuff but the mental exhaustion has caught me by surprise and I'm worried I'm now just a bit shit at everything.

I also bought some nursing bras from Figleaves when the boobies started to grow, to make the purchase last, I think on Becky's recommendation. Very happy with them.

StargazyDrifter · 03/06/2019 16:36

Also, does anyone have experience with transverse babies? Mine has now turned sideways which is quite uncomfortable. Looks a bit like I've swallowed a log sideways. DH and I tried a couple of bizarre poses from the internet over the weekend (DH supervising, bemused, while I reenacted!) but to no avail. It's an ELCS anyway so just as well. But I seem to have an elbow or knee almost permanently sticking out of my belly now, fully clothed it looks like I have two deformed belly buttons, one above the other! 🙈

Kentishgal · 03/06/2019 16:46

Ha ha stargazydrifter wish it worked like that! I did ask the gp if she could just take the baby out now but she didn't seem keen! Seeing consultant tomorrow so maybe i'll ask him to do it whilst I'm there! Aww the baby brain - don't mean to scare you but I think I was worse when I went back to work from mat leave - I felt like I'd lost the ability to write in a coherent fashion - it didn't seem to come naturally to me - I soon got back into it but it was an odd feeling!

OP posts:
StargazyDrifter · 03/06/2019 17:44

Oh I'm glad you got it back! Something to hold on to. 😬 😭

BeckyButterfly · 03/06/2019 18:01

@StargazyDrifter I'm totally with you on the mental exhaustion and general baby brain. I keep getting really cross with myself because I just don't feel like I can function properly anymore and I feel like people are already sick of me using the baby brain excuse. I also find myself freaking out at the thought of any mentally taxing activities because I know I just can't handle it these days! 😩 I'm not even feeling particularly physically exhausted which I'm pleased about, I don't think I could cope with both!

Kentishgal · 03/06/2019 18:29

On that note, I put a bowl of porridge in the cupboard the other day and then couldn't find where my breakfast had gone...And today I spent five minutes looking for my glasses - they were in my hand. I'm totally losing the plot!

OP posts:
thedust · 03/06/2019 18:52

😂 well, I washed my face with shampoo in the shower the other morning and I put my knickers on inside out today and only realised this afternoon. Baby brain is real!

@kentishgal sorry to hear you're on more antibiotics, hope they shift it soon!

Yukka · 03/06/2019 19:48

Yes putting things down and then can’t find them is a biggy for me, and walking into a room then can’t remember what I went in for...
