Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Congratulations @Toria73 hope the 3 of you are doing well!

twickersmumtobe · 31/05/2019 08:45

Congratulations @Toria73
Good luck with the home / hospital juggling, alongside expressing 😊

TwinkleDay · 31/05/2019 09:19

Congratulations @Toria73 I can't remember what you said you were having! Had you got them little names?

More importantly how was birthing and how are you doing ?

TwinkleDay · 31/05/2019 09:21

Ah yes one of each, silly me I can read.

I also have my risk assessment at the birthing centre today as not planning on using a hospital if it can be helped,

36 + 1 long, my long birthday weekend and only 3 more days of work to go.. roll on Friday 7th

thedust · 31/05/2019 09:53

@Toria73 congratulations! So glad they are both doing well. Hopefully the next 5 weeks go quickly and you can get them home soon.

@TwinkleDay I finish a week today too. It feels really surreal to be taking a year off work.

I'm at the midwife this morning then out for lunch with my parents. 34 weeks on Sunday! I'm feeling heavily pregnant now too.

BeckyButterfly · 31/05/2019 11:57

@Toria73 congratulations! I hope all runs smoothly from now for you and you get your little ones home soon 🙂

I'm 32 weeks now so a little behind most of you but not feeling too heavily pregnant yet which I'm pleased about. I spend pretty much all day at work crawling around on the floor (I teach students when severe and profound learning difficulties as well as physical disabilities and medical needs) so I'm pleased I'm not feeling too encumbered just yet as I think it will start to be a struggle once I do. Especially being there until I'm over 39 weeks.

BeckyButterfly · 31/05/2019 11:57

That should say with rather than when!

StargazyDrifter · 31/05/2019 15:01

Oh my, massive congratulations Toria! That must have all been a bit of a shock. Amazing news, so glad they are both doing really well. How cute they are a little girl and boy too. 😍 Early July is only 4 weeks away, and that will fly by. What an amazing thing. 💜

May I ask about the state of your belly button? Too soon? 😉

Yukka · 31/05/2019 16:09

Lovely news @toria73 glad you are all well xx

stephn88 · 31/05/2019 16:12

Congrats @Toria73! Fab news Grin

Kentishgal · 31/05/2019 18:40

Ha ha aww stargazydrifter that is the funniest post-birth question I've heard...but equally a very pertinent one! Mine was fine after my first - maybe it looked a little sad for itself but nothing to write home about...but my poor friend's belly button was totally wrecked - just pot luck I guess! I think mine will be wrecked this time because of laparoscopy scar from just before I fell pregnant - it's gone all funny!

StargazyDrifter · 31/05/2019 19:50

Haha! The belly button struggle is real! It catches on stuff (ick!) and looks like my intestines are trying to break out. 🙈

Kentishgal · 31/05/2019 20:19

Aww it's fine, it'll pop back in afterwards. But agree I wouldn't like the feeling of it catching against stuff, would make me feel a bit funny too. Mine has just gone flat, bit odd.

Just one thing, I dint know if anyone else felt this , but the first time I showered after giving birth (with my husband in the shower holding me up - no dignity), I looked down at my body and I've never seen such a saggy / wobbly / droopy body - I know it's shallow, but I recall being quite upset. But it did bounce back with 6 weeks or so, it was just a bit of a shock at the time - so I've prepared myself for that this time but reassured myself it isn't permanent!

That's really interesting to hear Kentishgal. Thank you for the heads-up! I've briefly googled post birth body stuff a couple of times but mostly got the c-section scars and gave up. I've had the opposite - super, super swollen and puffy body after 12 hours of general anaesthetic. I looked like a balloon. So this will be an interesting contrast!

TwinkleDay · 31/05/2019 20:57

What's people's weight gain so far ? I'm 36 weeks and now 33lbs or 2stone 4lbs ....

Toria73 · 31/05/2019 21:44

Thank you all. I’m ok, tired & def emotional but it I’m getting there. The health visitor came to the hospital to see me & do the day 8 checks. Apparently my crying is at a healthy level so that’s good 😂😭
@Stargazey that was a great question & I had to check as I’ve deliberately avoided looking at myself this last week. So bellybutton was still at Cat’s Bottom phase when I went into theatre, today (a week later) it’s moving back inward but it’s def not deep enough to hold the dip when munching on carrot sticks. 😉
What I would say to anyone having a section is get big pants, the M&S full briefs that grandmas would wear. They are so comfy & do not irritate your scar. But I would also add that I’m planning to bin all of mine the moment Im done with maternity pads & the scar heals I will bin them as they are no longer a necessity but a life style choice.

Kentishgal · 31/05/2019 22:12

twinkleday I might step on the scales tomorrow so I'll let you know! toria73 I have those knickers!! - I'm ashamed to say that I bought them last time (in several sizes too big) and I didn't bin them...and so have been wearing them during this pregnancy! Sooo comfy...

@Toria73 it sounds like you are doing amazingly well, I'm super impressed! I hope I can handle having just my one baby (and fingers crossed not until she's due) as well as you are managing your much more stressful situation.
Women often amaze me with how well they can handle the some of the most challenging times of their lives!

Also, chuckling about the belly button talk. Like someone else said, mine has just got a bit flat rather than popping out. There's still time and growth to go though!

Toria73 · 31/05/2019 23:35

I have to be honest I’m blessed with an amazing group of friends who have devised a lift rota. They just text me each day to let me know who will be picking me up so I don’t have to think about how I’m getting back from the hospital. Amongst them they’ve got quite competitive about snuggles & feeds. Wee Edie is always awake & on the bottle when it’s time for me to get picked up whereas nobody has been around to get Xander snuggles or feeds 😂😂😂

BeckyButterfly · 31/05/2019 23:56

@Toria73 sounds like you have some fab friends there 🙂 anything to make it a little easier for you.

Giraffe888 · 01/06/2019 08:52

Huge congratulations @toria73! They were both good weights and I’m so pleased they’re doing well.

We’re just off to our NHS ante-natal class x

StargazyDrifter · 01/06/2019 09:45

Toria sounds like you're doing extremely well! Lovely that you have good friends around you, the wee ones will enjoy hearing about this time when they're older, about how much love there was around. Beautiful names, too. Thank you for the belly button update 😂, I think I will always think of you, the nice lady from Mumsnet, when I look at mine now!

And thank you both for the M&S pants tip, will pick some up today. It's time!

DianaBlythe · 01/06/2019 09:49

Congratulations Toria! Welcome to the world Little Edie and Xander! Hope you are managing to look after yourself xx

thedust · 01/06/2019 13:31

Love the names @Toria73! Edie is on our girls list.
