Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

@Kentishgal porridge in the cupboard, that's funny.

It's my birthday tommorow and I'm wishing for cooler weather for a walk and hopefully a new phone with fresh storage for lots of photos of baby when they get here.

One lady a week ahead of me at Nct has had her baby already!! We are all on edge now, hospital bag / birthing bag packed, my last minute list is written of stuff to scoop up and birth plan outlined, got the car seat and isofix unboxed today will put in the car tommorow then ready for baby ! Ish lol 😂

Morning all

I can relate to lack if brain power. My biggest struggle with pregnancy has def been not being able to do everything as normal and that my brain is slowing down. That's also my biggest fear during mat leave.

@twinkleday My NCT group are all due in June and two have already had their babies. One 3 weeks early and another 1 week early! So good idea re hospital bag, I'm finalising this week.

I'm almost 35weeks now and last two days got really sharp pains in my lower left belly in the pelvic area. Been reading that this means that the baby may be engaging? Does anyone else have this?

cravingmilkshake · 04/06/2019 07:26

Happy birthday @TwinkleDay 😃

blueeyedviking · 04/06/2019 07:33

Oh yes, happy birthday @twinkleday ! Hope you have a lovely day 🥳

TwinkleDay · 04/06/2019 08:09

Thanks ladies :) xx

TwinkleDay · 04/06/2019 08:15

Oh yes and I just woke up from a dream about flooding lol... googled it and means about waters breaking, new change and cleansing!

stephn88 · 04/06/2019 08:24

Happy birthday @TwinkleDay hope you have a lovely day! Grin

stephn88 · 04/06/2019 08:26

Anyone with acid reflux also got a constant lump in there throat? I've googled it and apparently it's a pregnancy thing and antacids can help... I'm taking rennies when I can but don't want to over do it.... it's a really horrible feeling 😔

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 08:49

Happy Birthday twinkleday!

Happy birthday @TwinkleDay!

@stephn88 feel your pain with the acid reflux. It started for me last week. I haven't had it consistently but when it strikes, it's not pleasant at all. You've just reminded me to buy some Rennies for it today so I've got them to hand!

Giraffe888 · 04/06/2019 12:35

Happy birthday @twinkleday have a lovely day xxx

StargazyDrifter · 04/06/2019 12:50

Happy birthday Twinkle! 🎂

Yes, I've also been guzzling Gaviscon for weeks now. It tastes awful but does help.

Interesting about the lower left twinges... I've had a couple lately but there is so much other discomfort going on that I haven't even googled! The biggest challenge for me is sleep - and the baby isn't even here yet! If I sleep on one side too long, my hip joint starts to ache really badly so I have to turn over. That's a whole convoluted manoeuvre in itself and wakes up both me and DH. Then I often need the loo, or some water, or it's too bright to get to sleep again... I think I do this about 8 times a night. 😬

BeckyButterfly · 04/06/2019 13:15

Happy birthday @twinkleday! 🙂

It's my second day back at work after a week off and I'm really feeling the strain 😩 I just can't be bothered with anyone haha.

StargazyDrifter · 04/06/2019 13:25

BeckyButterfly I know exactly how you feel!

I also just found a punnet of cherry tomatoes in my shoe rack... it obviously made sense at the time?! 🙄

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 13:38

stsrgazydrifter I've bought myself an eye mask and that's helping - but I know exactly what you mean about the hip pain - I half roll onto my back so the weight is still shifted to left hand side and just keep shifting throughout night. Agony from piles keeping me awake now as well - and the cough - oh the dignity! So I just had total meltdown at the hospital - I'm so embarrassed - they basically said I'd get my elcs date on 1 July and I burst into tears as panicking over childcare for my daughter. I think it was partly the reality of what's happening and also feeling poorly. Anyhow, the kind midwife took pity on me and booked me in for 39+1 in the afternoon. Feeling embarrassed now. I'm tempted to bring mat leave fwd / use up my holiday and put my feet up sooner - at the moment I finish bang on 39 weeks, but I'm struggling a bit with health.

blueeyedviking · 04/06/2019 15:31

@stargazydrifter I'm the same re sleep. Very annoying but my eye mask helps as well.

@kentishgal As someone who has been forced on sick leave/early maternity leave I would recommend you listening to your body. If it wasn't for my best friend, DH and doctor I probably would have pushed myself too hard. The emotions you describe is similar to how I felt.

Just met the first few babies from our NCT group. They were both early, so tiny but it really made it so real...!

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 15:47

Thank you blueeyedviking - I hope you are feeling better now you've finished work? Bet that was a strange feeling as it makes it very real when you start seeing babies who were due at a similar time to yours!

StargazyDrifter · 04/06/2019 18:08

Kentishgal I'm so sorry to hear about the hospital drama. You poor thing, horrible feeling and also quite a physical one I'd guess because it's like the whole thing takes over you. You must be pretty tired now! Good of that MW to help you, and that you persevered (in whatever manner!). That's definitely something.

I've finished too now (on A/L that will turn into mat leave), it was really stressing me out trying to peddle at the same speed as before, being so tired and then not being able to give more thought to the baby side of things, all of which caused constant anxiety. I felt I was failing all round. It's a bit better now - or maybe just fewer things to fail at 😉. Definitely put yourself first now we're in the final countdown.

Interestingly I had a bit of a hard time the day after our first NCT weekend. It was all suddenly very real. I suspect that kind of realisation catches up with everyone in one form or another.

Sending you lots of hugs and cake.

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 21:13

Thank you stargazydrifter - those are kind words. I guess it hits people at different points. I think it's just the illness getting me down too. Can I just ask for some advice - at the hospital, a midwife did a urine sample, she then noted in my notes that there was glucose in my urine - but she didn't mention it to me and nor did the consultant - I've googled and it days it is potentially an indicator for GD - I had it crop up in last pregnancy once and they retested and confirmed all was ok. Do you think I should phone midwife to check if they need to re-test? I just don't want them to think I'm making a fuss if it's likely to be nothing! ....or maybe I should stop stressing!

OP posts:
BeckyButterfly · 04/06/2019 21:22

@Kentishgal I've had a glucose in my urine a couple of times but the consultant just said they don't worry unless it happens regularly. Then they would test for GD. I already had the GD test earlier in pregnancy but they said they would test again if there was glucose in my urine a couple of times in a row.
So next time you are at your MW and they test your urine again, they would probably get you to have a GD test.
I hope that makes sense...!

BeckyButterfly · 04/06/2019 21:24

They would probably do a GD test if there is glucose in your urine again that should say! 😩

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 21:33

Ah thank you becktbutterfly that's really helpful - probably just one of those things. I'm not back at midwife for another 3 weeks and it'll be the last appointment before my c section so they probably wouldn't do anything by that stage anyhow, so probably not worth worrying about. And relax!

OP posts:
BeckyButterfly · 04/06/2019 21:59

@Kentishgal they just said to me that it can depend what you've eaten or drank etc. And if it's not your first wee of the day then it is likely to show up some glucose 🙂 I wouldn't worry about it. Not cool that she didn't say anything to you about it though. I hate it when they do that.

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 22:07

Thanks beckybutterfly - yes I recall that from last time - I'd had granola and a glass of orange juice for breakfast and she thought it was probably that causing it.
