Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Good luck @blueeyedviking stick to your guns. They should have been more accommodating in the first place and you manager does need to go.

@kentishgal hope you feel better again today. Try and get in the sunshine if you can x

I’m thinking that baby may have moved out if breech as kicks this morning are much higher rather than a foot in my pelvis. I hope so anyway the nerve it was hitting down there was causing hideous pain.

Had 3rd antenatal class last night, we all got told off for having a laugh.... 🙄

StargazyDrifter · 22/05/2019 11:33

Good luck blueeyedviking! They are lucky you've been so good natured about it. Hopefully he'll have been moved on by the time you return, absolutely deserves to be.

Kentishgal everything crossed for a speedy recovery for you! Just such bad luck, but you're almost there.

Yukka that's kind of annoying they told you off. My impression is that, in those classes, if you don't laugh, you cry.

I've been feeling more and more pressure on my bladder. They said this would happen, but it's pretty horrid to actually feel it, and I'm forever worried about wetting myself when I'm out! What do people do? Incontinence pads? 😖 #blessed

Kentishgal · 22/05/2019 13:15

Thank you all. blueeyedviking I hope the meeting went well - do what is right for you and your baby. Don't let them pressure you into anything. It's so sad that this is still going on in the world of work. stargazydrifter this baby is super low (rubbish tummy muscles so nothing to hold it up 😂) and she has been kicking me in the bladder for a while so I've had the same concern - it can take your breath away sometimes. Now, with the added bonus of the cough, I've given in to liners - it's so embarrassing but I can't stop "a little bit of wee" keep coming out - clearly my pelvic floor exercises aren't doing quite enough!!

StargazyDrifter · 22/05/2019 14:40

I'm with you Kentishgal! Going to a slightly shiny do with DH this evening for my work and I think the liners start then. That would not be a good time for yet another pregnancy first. Oh the glamour.

I've always had very poor tummy muscles, even in my teens/20s and it's easily my worst body part, I just dress it in a fairly flattering way. So I've been enjoying having the bump, suddenly you're supposed to have a belly. Goodness knows what it'll look like after!

cravingmilkshake · 22/05/2019 18:13

Hi ladies!

When is everyone doing their hospital bag?

thedust · 22/05/2019 18:29

I've started packing mine already, still need a few bits and bobs for it but probably 80% done.

TwinkleDay · 22/05/2019 19:00

@cravingmilkshake hospital bag started already 80% done too just need to sort nappy bag and unbox car seat.

Have actually got a evening tommorow night at the birthing centre we should hopefully be using. Omg it's all becoming very very real!!

This is a photo of babies room :)

TwinkleDay · 22/05/2019 19:12

I also need to obtain a gp note to work 3 days... is it as simple as making an appointment to see my gp for them to talk to
Me and give me permission to work?

Or will they Sign me off an mat leave start early? I have holiday to take before hand so slightly concerned

BeckyButterfly · 22/05/2019 19:40

@TwinkleDay you might not even need an actual appointment. I've been given sick notes from a phone call appointment with the doctor before. The doctor wouldn't suggest starting mat leave I wouldn't think. They'll just give you a sick note with their recommendation for adapted working hours and the reason behind it. I think your work can ask you to start mat leave anywhere from 28 weeks though and it will kick in automatically if you are off sick after 36 weeks.

I have packed the baby's bag for hospital but only put a few bits in my own bag. I still have a few things I need to buy as well.

BeckyButterfly · 22/05/2019 19:41

Sorry @TwinkleDay I might've got the wrong end of the stick there. Are you wanting to go back to work or are you wanting a sick note for time off work..?

TwinkleDay · 22/05/2019 19:42

Ha no I want to work into 37 weeks, so have been told I need a note from gp to say I'm fit for work... complete opposite

Giraffe888 · 22/05/2019 19:47

I’ve just got baby’s changing bag out of the loft so I can start packing it. Washed all his clothes yesterday so I want to get it done now! Need to buy bits that I need for my bag so can’t do that yet.

We got our pram on Monday, I absolutely love it! We’d not seen it in our colour and like it even more than we expected x

blueeyedviking · 22/05/2019 21:10

Thanks for all your messages. It went well, just need an official sick note from GP (only have one from a consultant so far).
When I walked out today it was so strange but a sense of relief, so thank you for all your support and advice. I'm WFH tomorrow and then I'm off.. so strange!

I've got a horrible cold now too so very glad I dont have to go in anymore.

I haven't started my bag yet, but it's on the list for next week!

BeckyButterfly · 22/05/2019 23:32

@TwinkleDay sorry! I'm blaming baby brain 😂 after I re-read your post I realised I had got it completely wrong haha. I've never heard of someone needing a doctor's note to say they can work..! Surely if you say you're okay then that should be enough 😂 I'm sure the GP will back you up though if you say you are fine to continue working. I hope you get sorted and sorry again for my useless advice haha.

Yukka · 23/05/2019 15:05

@twinkelday I've never heard of that and pretty sure its not government policy, you can work up to the the baby arrives if you want to - do you a have a a physical or higher risk job of some sort, where the internal company policy differs?

the only statutory requirement I know of is mum must take 2 weeks off after birth, but no rules about before birth.

otherwise yes, get a telephone appointment with GP ( prob quicker than physical) and discuss with them.

Glad it you feel relieved @blueeyedviking :)

15 days at work left for me, its flying by.

thedust · 23/05/2019 17:28

9 days left at work for me 😱 I've been prescribed iron tablets by my GP. 3 tablets a day! Anyone else on them?

Trying2bemum · 23/05/2019 20:22

@Giraffe888 which pram is it?

Glad it went well and you're sorted @blueeyedviking

@thedust I'm on iron tablets - so far so good. Slightly odd poos but nothing to write home about. The anaemia was/is awful though - breathless and exhausted and lightheaded ugh. The tablets are helping but I still feel anaemic at times

Yukka · 23/05/2019 20:38

@thedust yes iron here too, feeling really we’ll now even though I didn’t realise I didn’t feel great if you know what I mean. Bran flakes for breakfast and a good handful of breaks every day keeps the constipation away ...

thedust · 23/05/2019 20:48

@trying2bemum @yukka that's good to know. I'm similar to you @yukka, I've not felt too fatigued or unwell but maybe I have and just dismissed it as 'pregnancy' tiredness, so if it gives me more energy then good! I will get some bran flakes at the weekend 😁

Our pram and car seat are coming tomorrow! We're getting the Joolz day3 with the Cybex cloud car seat. All we need now is for our new car to arrive (it's on order from the factory and due in June) what pram did you get @giraffe888?

Yukka · 23/05/2019 21:59

@thedust that should have said handful of grapes..!

Giraffe888 · 23/05/2019 22:22

We got the mamas & papas ocarro in skyline grey...

July 2019 (thread 10) - the final furlong...maybe
thedust · 24/05/2019 12:35

Lovely! I'm working from home today waiting for ours to be delivered. Supposed to be here in the next half hour but he also has 35 other deliveries to make in that time so we'll see!

2nd day of our NCT course tomorrow. Monday we're going to an antenatal nappy natter event held by our local cloth nappy library to learn a bit more. I've got quite a few nappies now but still need a few more newborn ones I think. Anyone else doing cloth nappies?

Giraffe888 · 24/05/2019 19:12

@thedust did your pram arrive? Which did you get? X

thedust · 24/05/2019 20:41

@giraffe888 yes, somehow it did arrive within the hour timeslot they gave! Raincover is missing though so I've emailed them. It's the joolz day 3 and the cybex cloud z car seat.

Giraffe888 · 24/05/2019 20:46

Aww that’s lovely @thedust! Annoying about the rain cover! Maybe we have yours as it came with one but we didn’t know that it did 😂
