Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Ahh thank you girls. I'm nervous and snappy now! Excited too though...!

The actual membrane sweep was fine, and she really went for it Blush

twickersmumtobe · 04/07/2019 05:12

Hi all, hope all you and bumps are well and you are all coping with life's challenges.

I'm a FTM, 37+1 today, I've been feeling a little sick again, sleep lasts for only a couple of hours a time and after starting to attempt harvesting colostrum (0.5 on first attempt 🥳) my boobs are super warm and sensitive.

If anybody has any hints and tips to keep any of the above symptoms at bay, I would love to hear from you 😊

Good luck to all of you with sweeps , inductions and c-sections booked, I look forward to hearing the happy news of you meeting your babies soon 🥰

TwinkleDay · 04/07/2019 07:46

Thanks ladies. 41 weeks today.. I have had 1 smear before and it was fine so I think I will go for it.

God knows how celebrities feel around there due date ... Meghan markle must of felt similar to me but with complete strangers as it the paparazzi. It's going to be awkward as I said originally as they were off back north after lunch that they can come round for a drink and have even made gluten free carrot cake for them... Now it just looks like I'm encouraging them ..feck sake 😑

As for boobies try a cool damp flannel and some stretch mark cream around the area for after collection.. well done.

Capybaras · 04/07/2019 08:30

Good luck for today @BirthdayKake

Going for reflexology today to see if that helps move things along!

Kentishgal · 04/07/2019 08:33

Meant to say, I remember "off you f**k Claire" too - who was that who had the sister in law from hell?

OP posts:
TwinkleDay · 04/07/2019 08:53

@kentishgal I can't remember ! However I would like to speak to them for an update as it might make me feel better ...I genuinely had a dream that I had to have an emergency c section and blanked out for all the birth and when I came round the inlaws were there and I had a hairy baby boy .... Arrrggghhhh

BirthdayKake · 04/07/2019 08:54

I am so scared!

If one more person says "but you've already had four"...!

Yes, that's why I'm scared! I know how bloody painful it is 😩

Good luck Twinkle!

Kentishgal · 04/07/2019 09:02

birthdaykake good luck today - I know people mean well, but sometimes saying less means more!! twinkleday argh - nightmare. I do like a hairy baby but only when it's on their head.

Oh I remember the Claire story too! That was a long time ago!

TwinkleDay · 04/07/2019 09:47

@birthdaykake good luck too!! I feel so naive not knowing how much pain to expect 😣

BirthdayKake · 04/07/2019 12:49

TwinkleDay you could always have pain relief! I've just never had time, or had home births. Ouch!

thelonearranger · 04/07/2019 13:23

I think I’ve just passed some of the mucus plug. I’m not due until the 31st so a bit worriwd

Yukka · 04/07/2019 13:59

@thelonearranger I’ve heard it can be normal to start around now, we’re only a couple of days apart and I started watching out for it this week. Mention to midwife if your worried they will check you over.

thelonearranger · 04/07/2019 14:33

Yukka thank you, I’m 36+1. I’ve had nothing more since and no pains/blood or anything so will keep an eye out and if there’s any changes I will call my midwife

TwinkleDay · 04/07/2019 14:52

@birthdaykake... What if I could manage the pain though and it's not as bad.. then pain relief wouldn't be the way to go.. I am having a water labour hopefully any way.. famous last words

Capybaras · 04/07/2019 16:49

I lost some of my plug at 36ish weeks, and a tiny bit more last week - 39+2 now so not necessarily something to worry about @thelonearranger
Was there any blood in it? If you're worried though speak to your midwife!

Capybaras · 04/07/2019 16:51

Just come back from my first reflexology session - was so nice and relaxing. She said she thinks labour isn't too far off but not imminent. Booked in for next week assuming I haven't popped before then! Still having the odd painful twinge but mostly just originate braxton hicks. Really hope it cools down soon!

thelonearranger · 04/07/2019 17:02

Capybaras no blood and nothing else since

Kentishgal · 04/07/2019 17:08

Just been for pregnancy massage, facial and foot and leg treatment - ahh bliss! I almost fell asleep (contrary to midwife advice against relaxing!). Just read something really awful - I was skimming through the chats on mumsnet and came across the September group - there was a lady on there who I recognised as originally being on our threads but she sadly miscarried and then conceived a couple of months later - it seems she had her baby at about 28 weeks and the baby sadly passed away after 5 days. I was so sad reading it, some people have so many awful things happen - it puts things into perspective doesn't it.

Hi everyone

Our little boy decided to make an appearance this morning at 1.30am after almost 30 hours in labour. Was a bit too traumatic for us but we are both well.

He weighed 3.8kg so no wonder my back went! Name still tbc.

TwinkleDay · 04/07/2019 17:20

@blueeyedviking congratulations!! Fantastic news glad to hear you are both well.. can I ask what the predicted weight was supposed to be for the little lump ?? And what did you use during you labour for pain relief?

Mind I can't talk just had my appointment and on the line for 4.2kg ... I had the sweep and I feel no different.. if it supposed to trigger something asap? I have another booked in Saturday night .. hopefully in laws would have pissed off by then !?!?

@blueeyedviking Congratulations! Glad to hear the both of you are well

Jxtina86 · 04/07/2019 17:35

@blueeyedviking huge congrats! Glad you're both doing well and that you're managing to get some rest after the long labour!

@TwinkleDay think it can take 24-48 hours? That's what I've read anyway but can just depend on how your cervix was during the sweep? Did the midwife mention anything?

Kentishgal · 04/07/2019 17:50

Congratulations blueeyedviking - hope you're being looked after - take time in hospital to recover if you can.
