Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Massive congrats @blueeyedviking - I hope you are well and coping well!! So pleased for you Smile

Giraffe888 · 04/07/2019 18:18

Huge congratulations @blueeyedviking x

That is so upsetting @Kentishgal you’re definitely right that people don’t realise how lucky they are x

Capybaras · 04/07/2019 18:29

Congratulations @blueeyedviking when were you due?
Hope you're both doing well.

I've just seen this @Kentishgal - so sad. She was really active and supportive in our group and that's awful that she's lost her little boy. It shows how uncertain pregnancy can be even when you think you've reached the 'safe' zone of 24 weeks.

Yukka · 04/07/2019 18:47

Congrats @blueeyedviking great news, hope you recover well xx

TwinkleDay · 04/07/2019 19:42

No midwife didn't say too much as she scored me a 4 for effectivness ... If other counties do that too.. only 1-2cm ... It's very confusing I feel the same still ... I don't want to be induced .. though she did mention a balloon device that they can stick up there to help head push down even more which doesn't involve drugs and I can still use birthing centre... If they have to use drugs to induce will be after Tuesday and I have to go to hospital for that which I really really don't want.. I don't even know the hospital other than for that gtt test 😑

blueeyedviking · 04/07/2019 19:51

Thanks everyone. We are staying in hospital until Saturday at least as we both have an infection. So a good chance to just relax with loads of good midwives around me who can help.

@twinkleday On his 36 week scan he was 3.2kg, and he came at 39 weeks. I used a lot of meds. Gas made me really ill so ditched that, the penciloen (?) drug was good and got me to the 6cm dilated and then went on epidural until end. For me it was the right thing to do as was in labour for so long and because of my back issues.

@capybaras I was due 10th July so my labour started 38+6.

That's so sad @Kentishgal - I do feel very lucky every time I look at him.

Kentishgal · 05/07/2019 18:22

twinkleday how are you feeling today? Hope you are getting on ok Birthdaykake.

Hi @kentishgal nothing to report here.. sweep did nothing so going back tomorrow evening for second one ... If that doesn't work I will upset and then have to go to a hospital for induction ... 😥 We want to use the birthing centre

Kentishgal · 05/07/2019 19:59

Aww twinkleday I feel for you because I remember being upset. Hoping something happens for you soon.

Have you had this predicament before ?

Kentishgal · 05/07/2019 21:06

Yes was two weeks over with my daughter - was induced after 11 days. At my hospital they mlu is just downstairs so when they induced me I went into labour and got to 5cm before they realised - as soon as they noted it they let me transfer downstairs to the mlu and go in the birthing pool (I ended up coming back up for an emcs but that's besides the point!) - does your hospital have a mlu so that you could do that or is it on a separate site?

TwinkleDay · 05/07/2019 21:20

Nah I don't have a clue they are 55 miles apart and there is one birthing pool at hospital where 3500 babies are born a year.. or birthing centre where 140 are born a year and it's more one to one.. we haven't even been round the hospital to check it out just been forced in to do that god awful gtt test .. how were you induced? What method x

Jxtina86 · 05/07/2019 21:28

@TwinkleDay I know induction is far from what you imagined but I have read quite a few positive experiences of induction online. Our hypnobirthing teacher had a similar situation to you - she went over, couldn't have the water birth she wanted but said she could still apply techniques to the induction that made the whole process calm and positive for her. If you're on Instagram, positivelybirthing is fab for a whole variety of stories of all different kind of births and has a load of resources for inductions. I have everything crossed that your sweep tomorrow does the trick though!!

Kentishgal · 05/07/2019 21:48

The pessary and later on in labour the syntocinon drip - but I understand from a few of you that they use a gel now. Everyone has a different experience of induction and I know people who have had a really positive time. As jxtina86 says maybe try something to help calm etc. You've got another sweep yet though so hopefully that'll do the trick for you - fingers crossed.

UPDATE!!! I have been on and off the toilet having a good clear out since 4.30... and I have passed I think is a majority of the mucus plug and been having period like pains for 30 seconds every half hour or so....

😁😁😁 Also OH night shift was cancelled so he was back early ... It must be a sign 😁😁😁 now to get rid of the in laws and keep a poker face until 11 ISH ... Which will be fine... I think !! Now for OH to wake up so I can tell him about my night... I'm such a lovely person letting him sleep straight through all this!

BirthdayKake · 06/07/2019 08:14

Good luck @TwinkleDay!! That sounds seriously promising!

BirthdayKake · 06/07/2019 08:31

I have news...

I HAD A BABY!!

Effie Scarlett was born at 22:34 on the 4th of July (so kindly worked around Love Island) weighing 5lb 7.5oz. The cord was tightly wrapped around her neck twice so they said it's a good job I went through with the induction!

Jxtina86 · 06/07/2019 08:39

@TwinkleDay eek exciting!!

@BirthdayKake huge congrats! Hope you're both doing well. She's a cutie!

Yukka · 06/07/2019 08:50

@BirthdayKake congratulations! Aw she looks beautiful is she smiling in that photo?!Glad you went ahead with induction these things can't be predicted. Hope it was an ok process for you.

Enjoy the next for days and weeks. Gorgeous name xx

BirthdayKake · 06/07/2019 08:51

Thank you @Jxtina86!

Yukka · 06/07/2019 08:53

@TwinkleDay exciting!! Love how your managing the family around being in labour!! Roll on 11am!! Good luck, sounds like you'll have a baby by the end of today xx

Capybaras · 06/07/2019 08:54

Congratulations @BirthdayKake she's gorgeous!

Exciting @TwinkleDay hope you manage to get rid of the in-laws. It still amazes me how people can think it's appropriate to stay/visit when baby is imminent!

Giraffe888 · 06/07/2019 09:11

Huge congratulations @BirthdayKake she’s gorgeous and I love her name x

Good luck @TwinkleDay looking forward to hearing of your baby’s arrival x

GiGi18 · 06/07/2019 09:29

Congratulations @blueeyedviking and @BirthdayKake on the birth of your babies! Enjoy the next stage.

@TwinkleDay that sounds seriously promising! Hope it all goes well for you and you get the birth you want! 🤞

I'm 38 weeks today, feeling crampy but nothing regular at all, just a kind of dull constant - no idea what that means and not lost any plug or anything. Think I'll defo be going till my due date!

Kentishgal · 06/07/2019 10:22

birthdaykake huge congratulations - hope it was all ok and you are recovering - she's gorgeous - how teeny! So cute! twinkleday yay excellent news - get rid of those in-laws asap! Good luck and looking forward to the updates!
