Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

My mum has been texting me 'you ok?' every morning since I've been on mat leave 😂 sometimes I don't reply for a few hours to keep her on her toes haha.

BirthdayKake · 03/07/2019 16:33

Baby apparently hasn't grown so I was given a sweep and booked in for induction tomorrow morning!! Jesus Christ...

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 16:36

Oh your all making me laugh!! Good luck with the induction there ... Might I ask how you are after the sweep??

Does anyone remember off you fuck Claire ... Who was it that had beef with the sister in law and are they still with us??

BirthdayKake · 03/07/2019 16:45

Absolutely fine! I've tried to give myself one anyway and I knew my cervix wasn't very favourable Blush

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 17:02

@birthdaykake did it take long? And you still feel fine ? No cramping yet or blood?

I have one tomorrow provisionally 🙄

Jxtina86 · 03/07/2019 17:06

Fully sympathise with the endless texts from friends! My mum emails every few days which I can cope with, but I'm getting to the end of my tether with the random texts of 'how you doing?' I know they mean well but argh! I've just turned off notifications on WhatsApp to try and keep my sanity!

@BirthdayKake any tips for the sweep?!

BirthdayKake · 03/07/2019 17:26

@TwinkleDay tiny bit of blood but I have cervical erosion in this pregnancy anyway so sometimes bleed... no cramps or anything! Well, nothing more than usual!

@Jxtina86 SHAVE YOUR FANNY!! I'm gutted I didn't but I didn't know I was going to be having a sweep 😢

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 17:39

Lol I don't know how it can't be shaved in this heat even if it takes a while to find it 😂

BirthdayKake · 03/07/2019 17:48

I just thought I'd wait until I went into labour! Oops!

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/07/2019 17:57

Hi all!

I've not checked in for a really long time 🙈 no chance of catching up!

Hope everyone is doing well! Cant believe it's finally July ! So excited now can't wait to meet my baby boy . Less than 3 weeks to go for me now, wishing my nesting would hurry up and kick in 😂

Jxtina86 · 03/07/2019 18:17

@BirthdayKake excellent advice! I managed to tidy up a few weeks back completely blind so let's see if I can replicate my efforts once more lol.

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 18:50

Hi Regina ... I'm 6 days over due now.. baby too comfy it seems

How are you doing? My house is spotless.. this is my 4th week off work.. I'm literally counting the socks in the washing basket in order to put on another load 😳

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 19:08

Oh bloody hell I wish people would just did off.. what I was saying about in laws staying for 3 nights down the road they have just booked into another hotel even closer to our house for the next two nights... Baby will definitely be staying put until further notice now !! ,😠😠😠😠

Giraffe888 · 03/07/2019 19:58

@BirthdayKake good luck for tomorrow!

@TwinkleDay your in-laws sound hard work!!!! They must be driving you mad!

I’ve got another growth scan this Friday, looking forward to seeing baby again and what he weighs!

How are all the first time mum’s feeling? I’ve desperately wanted a baby for 8 years and I’m so excited. But I keep having waves of panic at how much our lives are going to change! X

BirthdayKake · 03/07/2019 20:14

Thank you @Giraffe888! :) I will not be able to sleep tonight...

Giraffe888 · 03/07/2019 20:32

@Birthdaykake I bet you won’t! So exciting, can’t wait to hear of baby’s birth x

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/07/2019 20:59

@TwinkleDay oh no you must be so fed up! I went 4 days over with my last baby so expecting I'll be late again this time , really hope I'm wrong because I'm so uncomfortable already at 37+2! I take it you've tried all the old tales, spicy food, sex etc ?

I wish I could say our house is spotless 🙈 it's currently a bomb site, we've been decluttering cupboards etc so there are piles of junk for the dump/charity dotted around the place ! Need to try get on top of it over the next few days 🙈

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 21:19

Regina yes they are driving me mad... Not even got any plans and staying less than a mile away now.. it's really shit for my endorphins. We did the massive clear outs in Jan so nothing left to sort here.

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 21:50

I'm really torn about this sweep tommorow now... Do I put the sweep off mainly because these in laws keep festering round the area? And wait until next week... Or do I go ahead with it and hope it isn't too painful and that it brings things on ... We will be ignoring outside contact until things are established and we feel comfortable.. wanting stay for 1-2 nights minimum for peace of mind with midwives round me.

They can always re extend there break as they seem to be doing 😠😡

Kentishgal · 03/07/2019 22:18

Good luck for tomorrow birthdaykake - looking fwd to another baby update! twinkleday I sympathise with you - you don't need in-laws bothering you right now! I think my sweep was at 41wks last time and that felt about time..not that it brought on labour but hey ho! reginaphalange hello, hope you're keeping well! Re bikini line - at my pre op they said not to shave or wax for at least two weeks beforehand 😏 nice!!

@TwinkleDay I think it's totally your call. I can't speak from any experience but my thoughts on my own preference (at the moment!) as to sweep or not is that if it helps things get started then great and if not, least it gives me an idea of what to expect from an internal exam during labour itself. I have gone back and forth myself on the whole idea of it for the last month or so. If you'd asked me two weeks ago I was completely against it and now I'm of the above view. Hell I might change my mind again by next Tuesday!

Jxtina86 · 03/07/2019 22:20

@BirthdayKake good luck for tomorrow! Will be thinking of you and so excited for you to meet your baby!!

TwinkleDay · 03/07/2019 22:31

So a sweep is pretty similar to an 'internal' examination interesting... I just presumed it's a painful forceful procedure. Stripping sounds awful ... But then I read there is only a 25 percent chance it will work... Sorry for sounding like a worry wart .... I am fed up of talking about myself to you guys already. god knows how you all must feel!

Kentishgal · 03/07/2019 22:47

Don't be silly twinkleday it's a really stressful time and I know what it's like being overdue - the night before my induction last time I told my husband (with a serious face) that I'd changed my mind about having a baby (I also told the midwives the same during labour) - he just let me rant on without pointing out the obvious! I guess just be assured, that one way or another, worst case scenario, they'll be out before the end of next week!

Jxtina86 · 03/07/2019 22:56

@TwinkleDay my midwife also said it was similar to a smear test if you want something to compare to? I know the effectiveness is low but I'm not aware of any risks of having a sweep? I know they don't work for everyone but to counter that, two friends had babies last year bang on their due dates and swear it was because of sweeps they had either the day before or on the day itself. But it's completely your choice and if you don't feel it's right for you at this stage, don't feel forced into it!
