Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

I've been taking the boots pregnancy vitamins but was looking at the pregnacare breastfeeding ones the other day - they are pricey!

Jxtina86 · 01/07/2019 10:54

I was taking Pregnacare but have been really inconsistent with it over the last few months. Not sure about continuing anything post-birth as I imagine I'll be even worse at remembering to take it...!

Kentishgal · 01/07/2019 10:58

I've been taking pregnacare max pretty religiously (and as you know, it's worked wonders for my immune system...😏) and have bought the pregnacare new mum ones for afterwards. I had the breastfeeding ones last time but then didn't breastfeed. Who knows if they do anything but worth a shot!

Good luck @farfromhome24 it's only natural to feel nervous, really hope everything goes well for you today 💓

First day off work for me today. I was up as usual from 4-6am (anyone else get this?!) but then managed to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Today I'm batch cooking, sorting clothes that I've been putting off, and hoping to finish my book. I've got a few bigger jobs need doing but nothing I can't do without help at the moment, annoyingly!

My sister has invited me to go to a baby sensory class with her and my nephew tomorrow which will be nice to see what it's like.

Capybaras · 01/07/2019 14:26

@Kentishgal that's why I've held off buying any yet just in case I'm unable to bf for some reason.

Oh enjoy your first day off @GiGi18 - my first week or so was mega productive, now if I get out of bed before 10 and achieve one task I count it as a win!

TwinkleDay · 01/07/2019 15:09

Enjoy your first day off Gigi this is the start of my 4th week off now and I think I am more relaxed, the hospital faffing me about with the glucose test didn't help.

I have some vitamin D vitamins to start off with been harvesting colostrum religiously so boobies are working, just hope baby latches on, my hand express is pretty on form though 😉

Just been strawberry picking again with lots of squats.

Jxtina86 · 01/07/2019 15:57

@TwinkleDay I'm very impressed with your squats for strawberries! I have to psych myself up to put the saucepans back in the low cupboards in the kitchen...!

Said to DH that I would go on a walk today to try and get out the house, keep active and maybe get baby shifting along, but it's almost 4pm and all I want to do is nap!

Not sure it's a 'sign' (lord knows, everything is these days!) but I have been having very loose bowel movements for the last few days. Been eating a lot of fruit though (in an attempt to curb my chocolate cravings) so could just be that...

TwinkleDay · 01/07/2019 16:07

@jxtina86 that's funny yes everything is a sign, picked up a load of bread today the best before date 4th July ... Omg it must be a sign... Nah it's just a perishable 🤣🤣

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 17:06

I know I’m late to the party but can I join in? I’m 35+5 with my first, we don’t know what we’re having.

Yukka · 01/07/2019 17:37

Welcome @thelonearranger never too late to join :) it's the final countdown, how's pregnancy been so far?

@TwinkleDay amazing on the squats. It is my only way of getting to ground level now but jeez it really feels like I'm squashing baby?!

Also when did you start manual expressing? I was told 37w from midwife.

BeckyButterfly · 01/07/2019 18:08

Hello to the newcomers!

@Yukka I was told 37 weeks for colostrum collection too. So I'm planning on starting this week. I just need to pull my finger out and ring the midwife assistant to get the stuff I need for it. I was going to ring today but forgot, will try again tomorrow.

I've had awful bowel movements for over a week now but I'm only 36+5 so I think I just have an iffy tummy 😬

I got cream from the doctors today for the piles because since having a bad belly, they have definitely gotten worse!

People at work keep looking at me in a horrified fashion when they ask me when I start mat leave and I respond with another 3 weeks haha! Well, it is now 2 weeks and 4 days. Not that I'm counting or anything...

TwinkleDay · 01/07/2019 18:52

@yukka was 37 + 4 when I started, did 48 hour in one syringe to start with so that was morning and evening for 4 days then I did just evening for the next couple of weeks one syringe to do two evenings, now I can do a full syringe 10 ml in one evening 😁

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 18:53

Yukka it’s been good, I think. We had a difficult first 12 weeks as I had a big bleed, but all was okay. It’s been smooth sailing since then, up until we got this hot weather and now I spend most of my time having a cold shower.

BeckyButterfly I’ve been the same with a dicky tummy, thankfully no piles though.

Yukka · 01/07/2019 19:24

@thelonearranger that would have been very worrying but great it sorted out and gets you are today. I'm 36.1 so just a couple of dats ahead of you.

@TwinkleDay that's amazing?! My midwife was supposed to book an appointment with me for this week to discuss more but she hasn't, I text her today. I was just gonna get a manual pump and crack on! Sounds like I need a bit more info.

TwinkleDay · 01/07/2019 19:47

@yukka no manual pump might help stimulate but the tiny bits you get to start off with will get lost and small syringes are easier to label and freeze... Just get comfortable and you will need to massage easy boob for a good 10 mins before doing the c shape movement to get an amount ... Even now it's just a dessert spoon full

Capybaras · 01/07/2019 20:52

Suddenly feeling quite sick, got the runs and my stomach is rock hard - wonder if this is the start of something?

Welcome @thelonearranger - sorry you had such a tough time in early pregnancy.

Barlyboos · 01/07/2019 20:58

Another newcomer...due on the 4th with my second boy, my first is 2.5 and I am stressing about how on Earth I'm going to manage a newborn whilst running around after a toddler, people keep telling me I'll manage but I think anyone with more than one child is a bloody superhero!

TwinkleDay · 01/07/2019 21:17

@capybaras oooh that sound promising! Not that you want to be feeling sick but might it be a sign ... Try and sleep it off 😁😍 in the morning you might feel better for it

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 21:44

Do you all have hospital bags packed? I’ve been putting it off because I’m so nervous but now I know I have to do it. What sort of things shall I put in it?

Kentishgal · 01/07/2019 22:19

Welcome newcomers! Had my pre op at hospital today - despite elcs not being for a while yet. Made it feel a bit more real, couldn't help welling up with tears again although managed to hide it (I think) - think it's just fear but I'm trying to tell myself it'll be a lovely calm experience this time. Managed to get quite a bit of batch cooking completed now, and been cleaning up baby equipment etc, then hoping to relax. My husband has booked me a pregnancy massage for Thursday for a bit of pampering too.

BirthdayKake · 02/07/2019 06:49

@Barlyboos you will be fine! Two children is actually easier than one :) I'm due number 5 in 13 days...

Yukka · 02/07/2019 07:30

@thelonearranger I'm doing mine at the moment. I've got things like:

Something to birth in
X2 nightdresses that I can feed in
X2 bras and big knickers plus some throw away knickers in case they're useful for first few hours after birth.
One pack maternity pads (x12)
Shower stuff and x2 towels
Hair bands hair brush etc
Nipple cream
Spritz for bits
Flannels to keep me cool during labour
Tens machine I get it
Clothes to go home
Dressing gown and flip flops
Phone and charger

Then for baby...
X8 nappies
X 2 vests and baby griws hats and nuts
Blanket
Cardigan
Cotton wool and x2 plastic tubs for washing (top and tail)

Probably a few other bits!

Kentishgal · 02/07/2019 09:41

birthdaykake I need tips on how you manage it!!

OP posts:
BirthdayKake · 02/07/2019 10:08

@Kentishgal anything in particular?! :)

Kentishgal · 02/07/2019 10:27

No...just every day life 😂 I keep thinking, my daughter occupies all of my time when I'm not at work...I'm going to have to get her engaged in nappy changes, feeding etc - she's soo excited at the moment but I'm sure that'll fade after a few days of baby actually being here!
