Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

I have had chickenpox as a child thankfully! Just really don't want the baby to be born in the middle of it and I've got a lot on over the next two weeks that I may have to drag pox infested child to

Kentishgal · 30/06/2019 12:57

twinkleday and yukka yes the gel sounds like a new thing. I wasn't keen on the induction as I'd read so much about natural being best, and still think natural would have been fab, but ultimately interventions save lives and so long as you and baby are safe that's all that matters. Fingers crossed you both go into labour naturally soon!!

Ps I bought a tens machine (only about £30 something) and highly recommend it - just hit the boost button lots!! I know some people don't get on with them though.

We've hired a tens machine for labour - do you need to test it beforehand? If so does it go on your back? (Sorry is a really stupid question), I've seen people say the earlier they're used in labour the better but have no idea about them really!

Kentishgal · 30/06/2019 13:08

capybaras I didn't test it, we just read instructions to make sure we knew how it worked and then husband put it on my back during labour.

Jxtina86 · 30/06/2019 13:19

@Capybaras instructions in mine said to test one set of pads on my inner arm just to check it all connected. I just tried it on level one and it worked (very tingly!) Also tested it on DH but he couldn't feel anything until I put it on level 3! And then when needed in labour two pads just below your bra line and another two just above your knickers I think.

BeckyButterfly · 30/06/2019 13:44

Where I am, they book your induction for 41 weeks exactly which seems quite soon to me! I asked the MW what happens if I don't want to be induced that soon and she said I would be referred to a consultant at the hospital but that's all she said. She said it in a way that made it sound like a very bad thing!

Yukka · 30/06/2019 14:02

@BeckyButterfly they do push it a lot don't they? But from what I understand you don't have to agree it if you have no medical complications that require it and you and baby are both fine. Naturally at 42w your gonna need to get things moving either way.

Kentishgal · 30/06/2019 14:06

A friend of mine saw a homeopathist and for both her pregnancies she went into labour the same day just after taking what was a prescribed (and had quick labours) - not sure about it myself but some people say it works.

@Yukka they definitely do! I totally understand that it is to keep you and baby as safe and healthy as possible but I think I would've preferred to wait for an induction till closer to 42 weeks. I'll see though. I might be desperate for it by then 😂

Capybaras · 30/06/2019 17:08

Oh awesome thank you @Kentishgal @Jxtina86 probably would help if I read the instructions!

Just had the tiniest bit of pink on loo paper when wiping but nothing since so not really sure what it was from!

I'm not sure at what point they push for inductions here - seeing my midwife this week so I'm sure she'll mention it as I'm coming up to 39weeks now. We'd like to hold out for as long as possible before being induced, assuming that's ok for baby and me! Having some reflexology this week as a friend recommended it so hoping that may kick start things!

TwinkleDay · 30/06/2019 18:40

Yes baby had been 2/5th engaged for about 4 weeks now.. going back to induction be nice is baby turned up soon. Then again what's an extra 11 days of waiting on top of the 283 I that I have already been pregnant for ?!!

Capybaras · 30/06/2019 21:19

I've been 3/5 engaged for 4 weeks now! Come on baby!

Has anyone else's skin got worse again? It's been great from about 20w-36w but now in the last few weeks im getting really spotty again. Assuming it's the hormones!

Jxtina86 · 30/06/2019 21:35

@Capybaras same here skin wise! My chin was horrific around Jan/Feb, cleared up in March and then just all came back with a vengeance in May. My entire chin is just red and lumpy and I swear the heat is making it worse too.

Capybaras · 30/06/2019 21:46

Wasn't sure if it was a combo of sweaty face and hormones! But imagine it's hormones ramping up for labour!

farfromhome24 · 01/07/2019 05:42

Hello ladies

I've been mostly silent in this thread, posting only twice or thrice. But wanted to update on here. I'm currently 38 weeks day 1 and my waters broke last night at 11.30. I was low risk all through out the pregnancy but I had temperature when I came in to birth Center at 1 am. so I'm now transferred to delivery suite and offered induction. It's my first baby. Really nervous and scared. Confused

Kentishgal · 01/07/2019 06:51

Good luck farfromhome24 -I hope your baby is safely with you soon. Happy 1 July everyone - can't believe it's July - by the end of the month we will have our babies! (Well, hopefully most of us will by then anyhow)

OP posts:
Yukka · 01/07/2019 07:30

@farfromhome24 oh good luck for today, I imagine the induction will go well given your waters already broke, your body is naturally getting ready. You'll get to meet you baby soon :) keep us posted xx

Yukka · 01/07/2019 07:32

@Kentishgal #holycow!

Is it just me that feels this pregnancy has flown by??

Kentishgal · 01/07/2019 07:47

yukka I totally agree - seems like the first 12 weeks dragged and since then it's flown by!

OP posts:
BirthdayKake · 01/07/2019 08:14

Yay for July!

TwinkleDay · 01/07/2019 08:27

@capybaras my skin was horrendous in the first 14 weeks and now my skin and hair look fab! Do you know what your having ?

Good luck lady in labour. Though I must admit I am jealous of you at 38 + 1 ..

Happy July everyone and there tikes ... Now 40 + 4 😳

Trying2bemum · 01/07/2019 09:10
