Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

I'm absolutely fine, just tumbled backwards into the cot. Few bruises but I think that's still the aspirin side effect, even though I stopped at 36 weeks. Probably looked more dramatic than in felt. Definitely to do with the centre of gravity. What a funny state pregnancy is. I'm looking forward to having my old body back, or something resembling it.

BirthdayKake · 26/06/2019 11:29

Ooh good luck @TheScaredyKat! I've only ever had waters go when the baby's head is about to come out so I have no tips I'm afraid!

StargazyDrifter · 26/06/2019 11:31

TheScaredyKat that's super exciting! All the v best to you. You'll be holding your LO so soon! 😍

Kentishgal · 26/06/2019 11:39

theskaredykat have you rung the hospital? I know once mine broke and 24hrs had gone by they put me on an antibiotic drip so just mentioning in case the contractions don't start. So exciting!

@Kentishgal yes midwife has just been round, she thinks I'm already having mild contractions?! But has booked me for induction 5am tomorrow just in case

Giraffe888 · 26/06/2019 12:35

@TheScaredyKat good luck! X

blueeyedviking · 26/06/2019 14:02

Ooooo how exciting @TheScaredyKat 😀
Keep us posted!

DianaBlythe · 26/06/2019 14:15

Good luck @TheScaredyKat!

Not much happening here. Went for a growth scan on Monday as SFH measurements railing off. They couldn’t measure the head as it was so low down but estimate baby has dropped from 49th centile at 32 week growth scan to 20th now. Seemed otherwise happy - good fluid, good movement, good heartbeat so she spoke to the doctor and decided to leave it be and see. Then the next morning it seemed quiet so went in and had some monitoring and that all seemed good.

I think if I’d pushed they would have got me to see the obstetrician and had a discussion about induction but I was feeling OK.

Now feeling really unsure. The scans are really inaccurate, especially with no head measurement. But at 39+2 it would be fine for it to be born and if it’s not getting everything it needs... but then no lovely hotel suite midwife unit and pool. But do I really care about that?? I’m not feeling too bad or uncomfortable though. I don’t have that overwhelming “get it out” feeling that some women seem to have.

I feel OK about leaving it this week but coming into next week wondering if I should push for induction. I know the risk of stillbirth is tiny but it’s there. Have booked in to see my community midwife to have a chat later.

TwinkleDay · 26/06/2019 14:49

@TheScaredyKat what a time 5am can you not have one last lie in !

Great news though glad you have been seen don't want any infections

StargazyDrifter · 26/06/2019 15:10

Yes 5am seems a bit uncivilised! I was a bit 🤔 as well.

Diana it's all so tricky isn't it. I wouldn't be sure what to do either, and it's hard to know whether letting the baby stay there until it's ready is for the best, or whether the risks are starting to become substantial enough to factor in. I suppose the MW will have seen this before. Did they say the scans are a bit unreliable at this late stage? Could it be that the baby is just the same growth wise?

DianaBlythe · 26/06/2019 15:29

I didn’t clock the 5am thing! It’s like they’re trying to give you the drama of a middle of the night hospital journey even though it’s a semi-planned intervention! Are you in a film or something?! Will this make better tv?

TheScaredyKat · 26/06/2019 15:47

@DianaBlythe haha no it's only 5am because that's what time my waters broke this morning and they like to induce at 24 hours later so you've got the full time to start labouring naturally

TwinkleDay · 26/06/2019 15:49

@TheScaredyKat lol I wonder what they did back when cave men were about or in the Victorian era before medical intervention.

How are you doing now?

DianaBlythe · 26/06/2019 16:00

Oh! Seems obvious now and makes much more sense! Everything crossed for you!

TheScaredyKat · 26/06/2019 16:44

@TwinkleDay I guess you would have just been left to nature, if you get an infection or something then so be it. Glad we're not in those times.
I've been having some light contractions but they are very sporadic. I'm trying to keep moving but it's not doing anything, I've just dusted the living room! I might go for a nap and see if that does anything

thedust · 26/06/2019 16:57

Hello all - been quiet for a few days, been struggling a bit with anxiety. I think I just have too much time on my hands now I'm off work and incredibly bored. We are also considering rehoming our dog (please no judgement, we are heartbroken but she is a very high need dog, she is on Prozac for anxiety herself so I feel we're not the best owners for her and we can't even have visitors around because she gets so stressed out). So yeah, I'm now hoping baby stays cooking for another month! I've been crying nearly every day. This weird inbetween time is very strange.

Hope things progress well @scaredycat, how exciting that babies are so imminent! It feels like just yesterday we were getting our positive tests.

BirthdayKake · 26/06/2019 20:59

@thedust no judgement here. Our guinea pigs are stressing me out so much. Can't imagine having a high maintenance dog in the mix too. My anxiety is awful as well.

TwinkleDay · 27/06/2019 08:38

Ahhhh! @TheScaredyKat just woke up and the first person I thought about is you... how are you? How was 5am? Xx

Kentishgal · 27/06/2019 12:53

Excited to hear the impending baby news! On annual leave now and just realising how much there is to do - the house is a mess and just feels overwhelming how much there is to sort out - guess I'm worrying in case she comes early and I'm not organised!

Baby Bobby was born at 7:30am this morning weighing 8lb 5oz, he's absolutely dreamy 💕 We're staying in hospital tonight to get in some snuggling time and help with feeding.
I didn't need to be induced in the end, things got going intermittently by themselves but it wasn't straight forward. Contractions were never consistently timed or spaced so they kept telling me to stay at home. In the end I wasn't coping so I cried down the phone until they said I could come into the birth centre about 2am, turned out I was 5cm dilated so justified to be there at that point I think

Jxtina86 · 27/06/2019 15:57

Huge congrats @TheScaredyKat!! Glad things progressed on their own albeit intermittently as you say. Enjoy those precious moments with baby Bobby!

Kentishgal · 27/06/2019 16:00

Ah congratulations theskaredykat great news - hope you're recovering and both doing well, take care! And your due date was today too right?!

@TheScaredyKat congratulations!!! 8lb 5! How are you doing? Did you know you were having a little boy

Chinks123 · 27/06/2019 16:49

Congratulations @TheScaredyKat!! 8lb 5, same weight as my first baby! Enjoy every second (well, almost every second Grin) Hope you’re doing well.

Capybaras · 27/06/2019 17:31

Congratulations @TheScaredyKat fantastic news! Glad to hear it all went well, enjoy your snuggle time!
