Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

@TwinkleDay that's so daft! What difference would it make at 39 weeks?! Also, my MW said to me that they'll only be concerned if glucose shows up multiple times in your urine. I had two tests in a row that showed glucose and they still didn't send me for the GTT test.
Such a waste of everyone's time 😩 what would they do if you refused..?

blueeyedviking · 19/06/2019 17:57

So I think Im joining the piles club... i havent had any of the signs, they just seen to have appeared today. Any tips?

Is it worth going GP or can I go to pharmacy for some cream?

cravingmilkshake · 19/06/2019 18:04

Hi all,

With regards to the GTT, mine came back positive at 31 weeks which I complained about because the lady rushed to get us out and only gave us an hour before retesting when should have been two.... anyway, I went to the clinic appt at the hospital to be discharged same day and said to control food intake. That is all- no blood tests, no medical management or anything, so I don't think they are overly concerned with gtt testing. It will be a normal delivery and still a low risk pregnancy.

What I would say is it's a waste of time you going now though. X

Yukka · 19/06/2019 18:08

@blueeyedviking think I joined the club aswell but no symptoms just noticed in the shower this week. I’ve bought some Anusol for supermarket but forgot to use...must try harder!

TwinkleDay · 19/06/2019 18:22

@BeckyButterfly I don't know what they would do if I refused... surely it's a waste of nhs money and time too!

This has made me bring out the clary sage, I have inhaled it for 20 mins in the morning. Smothered myself on pressure points for 2 hours this after mixing with carrier oil and having a nap. And just had a bath with 20 drops in it this afternoon.

My tummy has gone a bit hard:.. that is all 😫😫

blueeyedviking · 19/06/2019 19:15

@yukka yes I'm planning on buying it tomorrow. Just another thing to add to the fun pregnancy list! Weird how it just appears though.

I just tried the perineum massage thing. Very strange. No idea if I'm doing it right 🤷🏼‍♀️

TwinkleDay · 19/06/2019 20:00

After speaking to a few healthcare professionals they recon it's a waste of time.
You have glucose in urine when baby is fully formed and don't need it to develop anymore. Has been that way for years.

And she wanted to sweep me next Wednesday but I want natural as possible... so would rather wait it out.. anyone been sweeped before ? Sounds horrid

Jxtina86 · 19/06/2019 20:10

@TwinkleDay where did you get your clary sage from? And any recommendations on a carrier oil? I had my first raspberry leaf tea last night and grimaced my way through it to the amusement of DH! I'm in two minds about sweeps too. Tempted to leave it until I'm 41 weeks at the earliest...

TwinkleDay · 19/06/2019 20:47

@Jxtina86 my friend gave it me that had her little one in December. Wouldn't bother I have gone over board with it today and still nothing happened.

I know I think +41 weeks I might consider a sweep but babies come when they want to not after poking and sticking things where they aren't supposed to go. Anyway midwife was happy to call up for un necessary glucose test but have to ring up myself for next appointment... she wanted to do next week but maybe will arrange for two weeks time. It's very over whelming

TwinkleDay · 19/06/2019 20:48

Oh yeah I just used rapeseed

Giraffe888 · 19/06/2019 21:01

@blueeyedviking mine just appeared too! I got some Anusol from boots and when that ran out I got a prescription of it seeing as I’ve still got 4wks to go. Not great are they!

Kentishgal · 19/06/2019 21:15

Piles - my advice - treat them before they're agony and you can't sit down!! I got some stronger steroid ointment from gp and it has helped a lot although still not going - but pain is far less and less bleeding - still v itchy though! I'm using witch hazel and a sitz bath too with Epsom salts - also doing ice packs which gp recommended!...Oh and the rubber ring of course! I had a sweep last time twinkleday - it wasn't particularly pleasant but to be honest, whilst I was 41+ weeks I clearly still wasn't ready so she had to try really hard to try and reach cervix - I think a lot of people say they aren't too bad otherwise. Have you considered reflexology? Obviously there's the other method to bring on labour with some scientific basis...personally I couldn't face it though! In fact, the last time we did that was when we conceived!!😂

Kentishgal · 19/06/2019 21:16

Ps I meant piles still haven't gone - but they are going!

StargazyDrifter · 19/06/2019 23:03

I'm also in the piles club now. Time to reach for that foot Anusol cream. No symptoms yet but hoping to preempt. I'm grumpy and miserable enough already.

Kentishgal we haven't either! I can't imagine it also. Though I finally don't find DH's smell repulsive and sicky, only took 9 months! 🙈

DianaBlythe · 20/06/2019 04:14

Crazy how this chat is evolving and how close it’s getting! Kentish - hope the cold is mending ASAP, Yukka - hope you had a lovely spa day and Happy Birthday!

38+3 here and 2/5 engaged. 4/7 of our NCT babies have been born! Finding it really odd that could be any day now or could be 3 more weeks.

Finding being off quite strange. Been quite unproductive and feeling a bit guilty about it. Really could have been sorting house stuff or filling the freezer and just... haven’t. Got a few paperworky bits from work I was hoping to do and just haven’t been feeling it. Going to try and be more on it tomorrow!

TwinkleDay · 20/06/2019 06:32

I think I'm going to wait two more weeks then I will be 41 weeks before booking in any further induction

What ok earth did people do years ago? I know exactly when the baby was conceived so that's something to go off.

It's a lovely day here so they can shove there glucose test I am also knawing my arm off in hunger there's his way I can last until lunchtime

blueeyedviking · 20/06/2019 07:36

Thanks for all the tips re piles. Shame that most if us have gotten it now 😬 I'll be getting anusol, and will continue with the ice packs and baths to hopefully manage it. So strange as I'm not really constipated (as go to the toilet as normal) but hey ho.

@stargazydrifter I know, it's making me grumpy too. Just another thing to add to the list.

@DianaBlythe I'm finding it weird being off too. And especially as it can all happen today or in a few weeks as you say. Just a waiting game I guess.

@yukka enjoy your spa day!

Its finally sunny here in surrey so I cant wait to spend some time outside!

Kentishgal · 20/06/2019 07:45

Last day of commuting into London today! Hoorah!

OP posts:
StargazyDrifter · 20/06/2019 13:19

Now that is something to celebrate, Kentish!

Diana I'm exactly the same, there is both work and house stuff I could still be doing but I just haven't and any rest I have is tinged with guilt because of it. I remember so well you posting that first thread, how time flies!

StargazyDrifter · 20/06/2019 13:34

To those who've had a baby before - some family friends are coming to London for a 2 day stay in August. The baby will be 8 weeks old (ELCS if relevant). They are lovely but can be quite full on. Am I right in thinking that it will be too early to contemplate any kind of sightseeing with them but that we might be able to get someone in to look after the baby one evening so we can go for dinner? I'm keen to manage their expectations really early on. At the moment it all just feels too much!

Capybaras · 20/06/2019 14:47

Oh congratulations on the last day @Kentishgal

I'm finding my days are going so quickly now I'm off - trying to pack in everything before the baby comes! Doesn't help that the weather is now gorgeous so I just want to be sat in the garden or on the beach, not batch cooking/cleaning!

No idea on your query @StargazyDrifter as it's my first too - I imagine it depends on the baby?

Kentishgal · 20/06/2019 15:30

stargazydrifter I don't know - I guess it depends on how you are both feeling - I haven't ever taken a baby sightseeing in London (you're London based right?). Otherwise outside of London I think a day trip would be fine. I am ashamed to say I've never felt confident enough to leave my daughter with anyone in the evening so I'm probably not the best person to comment - but I know some mums are totally fine with this (I thought I would be!) - can you wait and see how you feel but maybe forewarn them that you'll have to wait and see to manage expectations?

OP posts:
StargazyDrifter · 20/06/2019 15:57

Thanks Kentishgal. Yes we're London based, but I avoid sight seeing at the best of times! Good to hear it might be ok. I will warn them just in case, but they are the hardy older sort who think us young 'uns are too delicate. I guess I will have to stand firm if it comes to it. DH is taking some leave that week so he can at least be on hand to help/take them somewhere.

TwinkleDay · 20/06/2019 17:08

Feck sake, so I didn't go to the hospital for a blood test as been told by everyone else it's a waste of time.

I have had 4 missed calls this afternoon and now a midwife has turned up at my door, so I let her in she checked me Over and did my piss test again after drinking a large milkshake 2 hours ago. Came back fine!

Now I have to go to a further away hospital tommorow as if I don't I can't go to my birthing unit!

Mad mad mad

Jxtina86 · 20/06/2019 17:22

@StargazyDrifter I can't speak from experience as first baby here, but BIL and his fiance are visiting early August just for the day and we've warned them that we will be doing absolutely zero to entertain them! Forewarned is forearmed as they say!
