Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

stargazydrifter I think they're probably just older and disillusioned / bored. Inexcusable though. Ooh yeah I'd definitely do some sleeping and relaxing with a good book / tv. The hyperemesis makes it tricky - have you managed to do some batch cooking for the freezer or does thstmake you feel worse? I've made an appointment to get my hair done as not sure when I'll next get a chance! Booking in for a pregnancy massage too. Last time I met up with nct people to get to know them before the birth - but font know anyone locally who will be off at the same time as me this time! My husband has booked a day off so we can go for afternoon tea together before baby arrives - it'll be our first date without our daughter since...well, since before she was born in November 2015!

Kentishgal that's SO cute about your date! Enjoy! Funnily enough afternoon tea is the only thing I've been able to enjoy as a meal out - because it doesn't smell. 😂

Those are all good ideas. Hair and massage would be good. I must also make sure I read something not baby related. I think I need a break from that. DH and I have a blocked out the weekend before the section to try and do something. I'm trying to make sure we still do a walk weekly, though it's gone from 12km to 4km lately!

Our NCT group hasn't really gelled that well, maybe not yet, but there has been one person I've become friendly with so I will see her again.

Cooking hasn't been easy, but I have DH for 3 weeks so I'm hoping he might do this while we're both here, as well as taking care of food for us in the meantime. I have this idea that we might find the odd hour to eat nice stuff and watch TV, but not sure how realistic that is...

StargazyDrifter · 18/06/2019 15:16

On that q about when do I think the baby will arrive - MIL has been asking me this the whole time, despite having had a number of children herself. Completely agree it's incomprehensible.

Kentishgal · 18/06/2019 15:35

At this point, I'm impressed with 4km, let alone 12! I'm meant to be working but I'm actually just googling baby stuff - I just saw a picture of a knitted boob...urgh I remember saying to a midwife last time, if I see one more of those things I'm going to scream!

Ps stargazydrifter I'm guessing you haven't told your MiL the elcs date??!

Think I lost my plug this morning,

Steady stream of BH since yesterday but they have always been totally painless for me and luckily baby girl has been moving well after yesterday’s hospital trip.

On and off lower back pain since Friday, I hope she will be making an appearance soon! 37+4 today 😁

Giraffe888 · 18/06/2019 15:56

@Kentishgal me and DH have planned that the day before c-sec we’re going to have our last day out as a ‘2’. Got pre-op in morning, then go somewhere (weather dependant!) and then for a nice meal. Can’t wait! X

TwinkleDay · 18/06/2019 16:10

@Kentishgal yes due in 9 days... ish 27th is my due date.

On our Nct group out of the 8 of us, 1 has had a little girl at 37 weeks, and c section today she has just announced a little boy!

I have been round a friends today playing with her 6 month old little boy.

I have my midwife appointment tomorrow at 38+6 so will see what they say.

Started the colostrum harvest yesterday and so far got 3 ml in a syringe! Quick pleased to get the boobs going to 'test they work' lol. Hasn't started anything though! Haven't had any Braxton hicks either.... and so we wait!

BeckyButterfly · 18/06/2019 16:20

@TwinkleDay 3ml is fab! Well done you! I can't believe how soon your due date is. Mine still feels so far away, head in the sand springs to mind for me haha.

TwinkleDay · 18/06/2019 16:28

@BeckyButterfly but In a couple of months we would of all had our babies! What a thought!

I know, I am on colostrum harvest morning and evening. Bouncing on exercise ball 15 mins morning and evening. Perennial massage every other day. Raspberry leaf tea morning and evening! Dates and apricots in alternation every day! Tummy oil at least two hours a day, I feel like I have a different body! Lol.

The worst bit for me is not being able to plan much, taking each day as it comes and each meal 😂 my freezer is batched cooked to the bring though so can decide on the day.

BeckyButterfly · 18/06/2019 16:38

@TwinkleDay I know! It has felt like such a distant thing for so long but it has suddenly crept up.

Wow! You are on it! I've done one perineum massage and that's it 😂 I can't do colostrum yet because I have to wait till 37 weeks. I'm sure I'll be seeking your advice on what to do once I get to the stage you're at.

StargazyDrifter · 18/06/2019 19:29

Hchy exciting! Fingers crossed you're not far off now.

TwinkleDay that's brilliant on the colostrum. May I ask where you get the syringes? Is it Boots?

Kentishgal no we've not told MIL that there will even be a c-section. She has a tendency to obsess over medical stuff, but in a v unscientific and negative way, so we are going to tell her after. ELCS is 2nd and EDD is 7th, so works well timing wise.

Giraffe what a wonderful idea. DH and I also have the day off together the day before the ELCS, I will think of something similar.

Just been clearing out my wardrobe and making sure I have floaty things so I don't despair too much with the mishapen post-baby body. Goodness it's emotional looking at some of the clothes.

TwinkleDay · 18/06/2019 19:47

@StargazyDrifter just ask your midwife for them! I was lucky I have a friend who is a midwife so she has a stash!

Just make sure you give yourself a good 10 min massage/warm up before expressing on each boob!

StargazyDrifter · 18/06/2019 23:00

Thank you! Will do that when I go on Friday.

Kentishgal · 19/06/2019 10:05

Morning, been awake all night with another cold - can't believe this keeps happening - just hoping it doesn't lead to bronchitis again!! Just seen midwife, said all was fine and was measuring fine - but when I checked the notes it said I was measuring at 39 weeks (I'm just 36) - seems a little big?

OP posts:
Yukka · 19/06/2019 10:19

Oh @Kentishgal not again, I don’t know how you’ve coped with all these colds. Hope it eases quickly.
I was told that baby stops growing in the last few weeks so maybe that’s why she’s fine with it? Or maybe you’ll have it early, 37w is considered full term. Are you in for natural birth, no inductions or c sections planned?

I was awake from 1:30 to 4:30 last night. Friends are treating me to a spa day tomorrow no idea how I’m supposed to be up and ready for 7am...?!

Kentishgal · 19/06/2019 10:41

Thanks yukka - spa day sounds fab but that's an early start! I'm booked for a planned c section at 39+1 - I'm already panicking about going early as have no childcare if that happens and going to take an hour to get to hospital - God I really hope I don't go early!! They've said they'll do a c section if I arrive in labour but that's assuming they get the chance surely! Maybe it's just a big baby?!

OP posts:
Capybaras · 19/06/2019 11:08

You've been so unlucky with colds/your chest Kentish! Hopefully this is the last one now before baby comes.

Had my last measurement at 35w (measuring 36) and don't see mw again until 39w so I hope baby doesn't have a massive growth spurt in these next few weeks.

Spa day sounds fab yukka - very jealous. 7am is an early start though - I've been waking up at 6am most day but staying in bed and snoozing again until 8:30ish. Have a nap in the car/in the spa? Are you having any treatments - I had a pregnancy massage last week and it was great. May book in for some reflexology in the next week or so.

blueeyedviking · 19/06/2019 11:56

Oh @Kentishgal you are so unlucky! Very impressed you are staying so positive and just powering through!

I'm 37 weeks now and can definitely feel the fatigue/tiredness again. Could sleep all day I think!

Spa day sounds lovely @yukka ! What nice friends you have. I've booked myself in for a massage on Friday, can't wait!

I'm having a baking day today. I can then rest between the baking so pretty nice to keep busy. Will probably fall asleep on the sofa again after lunch tho.

StargazyDrifter · 19/06/2019 13:32

What rotten luck Kentish! Hang in there! As others have said, this may well be the last cold. I also seem to have been writtten up as having a large baby, but the last MW said those measurements are pretty inaccurate and not to worry. Like you, I panic about labour and whether there will be time for me to have the c-section before any complications arise. I'm sure they have a plan for that!

I also didn't sleep last night, maybe an hour at most. Just feeling itchy and restless and uncomfortable and goodness knows what else. Functioning during the day is hard, I've got a few things to do today and it's really hard going.

Yukka how lovely that your friends are taking you to a spa. I hope you get to nap there, 7am is harsh!

BeckyButterfly · 19/06/2019 14:07

@Yukka my friend and I went for a spa day a few months ago now. We had our treatments and lunch then ended up both having a nap on the sun loungers 😂 so hopefully that is what is in store for you today!

Kentishgal · 19/06/2019 14:09

stargazydrifter you'd like to think so wouldn't you - my friend (who was at the hospital where she works as a consultant) was made to go through labour when she arrived in established labour BUT it wasn't a life and death situation to be fair and all turned out well. Childcare is my biggest worry but hopefully I'll be so stressed out by it that I won't go into labour before the date!! 😉 Yes it must be my last cold - I knew I'd get it as my daughter brought it home from nursery last week! I thought about it after I posted and thought "calm down, those measurements invariably seem to be wrong - it's only a tape measure and subject to human error" - plus I might have lots of fluid etc. My daughter was 8lb 7oz which isn't huge but then I'm quite small all over. I was two weeks over last time so unlikely to be earlier than 39 wks this time...! No point stressing about these things, it just makes me realise what a control freak I am 😬

OP posts:
TwinkleDay · 19/06/2019 14:27

Am really annoyed, just had another midwife appointment and i have seen two other midwives in the past two weeks! Basically two weeks ago they found glucose In my urine, nothing was done, I have had two urine tests since and been fine, now I'm being referred to hospital tommorow for blood sugar test at 39 weeks even though they have given me the all clear to 'cover there backs'

So won't be able to eat after 9 this evening until the following lunch time 😫

Jxtina86 · 19/06/2019 14:47

@TwinkleDay ugh I totally sympathise - that GTT wasn't fun at 20-something weeks let alone at 39! Hope it all goes well and comes back clear as I imagine it will do given your clear urine tests.

Yukka · 19/06/2019 15:38

@BeckyButterfly that would be ideal! Itnis meant to be sunny tomorrow:) the girls bought me a pregnancy spa package for my 40th and they all taken the day off to make a day of it. Will be lush.

@TwinkleDay that’s utterly pointless surely?!
