Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

@Kentishgal last time I had glucose in my urine and she asked me what I'd eaten and drank I said a full fat bottle of cherry Coke 😂 so I'm sure they were much happier with your granola haha.

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 22:33

Ha ha but I bet you were happier with the cherry cola - I think granola is full of sugar anyhow! I just read my c section guidance notes - it says to take your medication on the day of your op with 300mls of ribena or flat lucozade sport...just found the specifics of that quite amusing! It's for energy I realise but even so it's still odd!

@Kentishgal agree that they could offer some explanations rather than leaving us to worry! I apparently had blood in my 32 week urine sample. They sent it off for extra testing and all came back normal. The midwife I saw at the next appt said it was probably down to extra discharge getting into the sample (something about white blood cells being in that?). Just wish the first miswife had mentioned that rather than me symptom spotting for a uti and checking my phone every few mins in case I had missed a results call!

Kentishgal · 04/06/2019 22:55

Absolutely jxtina86 - it's probably routine for them but not for an anxious pregnant lady! Glad all was ok in the end. I had leukocytes in my last test at 28 wks but at least she said that was nothing to worry about.

😂 @ flat Lucozade. No c-section for you if you dare have that fizzy, Kentishgal! 😂

Definitely in my experience the urine test is very much subject to food intake, I've had it the other way where I'd eaten breakfast, promptly thrown it up on the way to the MW appointment and the urine test showed high keytones (sp?) - ie not enough nutrition. Well, quite... then on days I wasn't sick or had a later appointment there were usually none.

I've been told my c-section date is in the post. I am now like one of those dogs that waits for the postman all day. Hurry uppppp.

StargazyDrifter · 04/06/2019 23:57

On the anxious pregnant lady thing, I have given feedback to our hospital a couple of times now (they randomly ask you to do a card sometimes) that while their medical stuff is clearly top notch, they could be better at the handling/taking into account pregnant women's levels of anxiety etc. I think some of them are just numb to it. Sort of in the same way family lawyers can get a bit too brutal too quickly (we just did a will).

blueeyedviking · 05/06/2019 07:40

Re findings in urine, I also have experience with that being dependent on when I've eaten etc.

5 weeks until my due date today. Need to finish that hospital bag 😬

@kentishgal I wouldn't say that I'm any better physically as the added baby weight does affect my back quickly, however mentally it's really helped not being at work as they weren't great. What it does do tho is help control my pain levels as at home I can lie down when I need it and no dreaded commute!

Giraffe888 · 05/06/2019 07:57

Morning ladies

Exciting that people are starting to get dates come through!

We’ve got a scan on Friday to check my placenta position as it was low lying (actually completely covering cervix) at my 20wk scan. I don’t mind if I have to have c sec, I’ve got used to the idea and I love planning so quite like the idea that we’ll Actually know when baby is coming! Not sure if they’ll decide this on Friday (33wks) or if I’ll have to have another scan.

I’m at the doctors this morning as I started with piles on Friday 😳 just want to get some cream on prescription for them.

Then I’m going to pack our hospital bags 🥰 does anyone not worry about baby’s sleepsuits getting creased in the bag?! X

Kentishgal · 05/06/2019 08:47

stargazydrifter I filled in one of those forms but before my appointment and therefore based it on my previous experience which has all been fine, so didn't mention anything. I guess it's like any job, you get complacent and assume knowledge. giraffe888 - I feel your pain! I hope they give you something that helps - mine doesn't seem to be helping unfortunately - think it's a combination of the cough and baby putting pressure down there - they started bleeding last night - males me so miserable. blueeyedviking I'm glad you've managed to get to a point where you can relax and at least deal with it - and the stress of work was bound to compound it any event.

Giraffe888 · 05/06/2019 09:06

@kentishgal they’re not pleasant are they?! Everything I go to the toilet I’m having to push them back up 😳 how glamorous 😂 x

Kentishgal · 05/06/2019 10:26

giraffe888 I tried that - it didn't work and then I woke up the next morning in even more pain! My daughter wasn't very happy and also a tad confused when she discovered me sitting on her rubber swimming ring this morning 😂 she promptly took it away and put it back with her swimming gear!

StargazyDrifter · 05/06/2019 10:40

Kentishgal 😂 poor little one 😂 As a child, I sometimes found Anusol in my parents' bathroom (now assuming for my mother's last pregnancy!) and I honestly thought it was a foot cream, because of the name, so I used to slather my feet in it when they weren't there. Never told them, they must have wondered where it was going! 😬

Kentishgal · 05/06/2019 10:42

Ha ha that's hilarious but a completely understandable link for a child to make! I bet you had beautiful smooth feet though!

Giraffe888 · 05/06/2019 10:59

@stargazydrifter that made me laugh 😂

@kentishgal they sound awful. I feel quite lucky that at the minute I’m managing to keep them up unless I’m on the loo. They feel uncomfortable when walking though

Trying2bemum · 05/06/2019 13:56

Sorry to hear about the piles troubles ladies, they sound really unpleasant. They were mentioned at NCT as being likely after birth so perhaps it's time to get the anusol in.

Did not sleep a wink last night - ended up getting up and re watching Big Little Lies. Have not gone into work today, am just exhausted.

Our car seat has arrived though! Just need to get our boiler replaced tomorrow and then we can crack on with decorating the spare room. Warghh!

Kentishgal · 05/06/2019 14:50

giraffe888 I've been recommended a sitz bath with Epsom salts - have ordered one but am bathing in Epsom salts for the time being. And just to keep on top of pelvic floor exercises. Although to be honest, I'm not sure how much they're helping!

Yukka · 05/06/2019 15:01

@Kentishgal - foot cream . . hilarious :)

I'm skipping the piles so far, but very conscious with these extra iron tablets. Lots of fluids and bran!

Had my long awaited 32w growth scan today. Its been a long wait for this one for some reason. Baby is just perfect for growth, estimated just a smidge under 5lbs at the moment, and has moved from breech, so they'll induce in 6 weeks (cos of this APS blood condition). At next appointment (36w) we'll agree the exact date. They were happy with bloods etc too.

We talked about my weight gain (my worry from last week) as on their records and today's weight I've only gained 2.5 kgs which is about 6lbs. Consultant said it is quite low, but given the baby is thriving, shouldn't need to worry. So long as I'm eating and not being sick then consider myself lucky, its all baby :) Was pleased about that as it just didn't make any sense, my sister gained 3st with her last, but I'm deff a bit bonier on my ribs and shoulders.. They would hope to see another 2 to 2.5 lbs on baby over the next 6 weeks.

Phew! Feel's very real now. Finish work next week :)

Giraffe888 · 05/06/2019 15:55

@kentishgal we don’t have a bath, only a shower

@yukka glad all ok with baby’s growth and you’ve got reassurance for your weight gain. It’s not a lot but everyone is different. I’ve gained exactly 1 stone, hoping I don’t pile it on near the end!

Bananayoghurt · 05/06/2019 17:36

Hi peeps, I’m due on 28th July. Joined MN today because I’ve been told my white cell count is high! Tried asking this in antenatal tests but got no responses so hoping asking all of you due similar time to me will be able to reassure me Blush
I had bloods done at 28 weeks and the came back with good iron levels but my wcc was 14.4 - has gone up from the first trimester results where wcc was 9.something. So at my 31 week appointment my bloods were retaken and midwife just called to say they’re raised again so I’m going in tomorrow for more blood to be taken. I’m 32 weeks, eat really healthily, loads of fruit and veg, take pregnacare and have had no signs of any infection! I’ve not had a full on cold since December. Is there reason to worry?

BeckyButterfly · 05/06/2019 18:03

On the piles front; I've had piles for a good few weeks now. It's never been painful, it just bleeds nearly every time I go to the toilet 😩 the first time it happened was quite terrifying but the MW said it's normal.

Sorry @Bananayoghurt but I have no experience of white blood cell count so I can't read advise you on that one.

TwinkleDay · 05/06/2019 20:28

Evening ladies, lol at the foot cream / bum cream !

I am 37 weeks term tommorow and have been told today baby is 2 / 5ths engaged ... so happy they are in the correct position... anyone else there yet ?

Capybaras · 05/06/2019 20:52

Welcome @Bananayoghurt no idea about wbc sorry but hopefully someone will know about it!

That's exciting @TwinkleDay I'm 35+1 and 3/5 engaged!

Giraffe888 · 05/06/2019 21:13

Sorry I can’t help either @bananayoghurt

How exciting that baby is engaged @twinkleday and @capybaras x

Yukka · 05/06/2019 22:16

@giraffe888 I too think when I stop work that’s when I’ll start to gain, but no worrying at least.

@bananayoghurt from what I know it usually means an infection even if you have no symptoms, your body is fighting something off, but also it can be higher anyway just cos of increased blood volume. I guess if they’re testing again, if it goes up again the might give you antibiotics, if it stays the same it reduces they might just monitor? I don’t really know though there could be other reasons.

Good news @twinkleday you’ve made me thing should we do a round up post, name, number of weeks and due date?

Giraffe888 · 05/06/2019 22:42

I think that’s a good idea @yukka as I forget where everyone is at!

I’m 32+5, due 27th July with a boy 💙
