I couldn't see a new thread so started one, hope that's OK.

Massive congratulations @swiftfox. So exciting to have our first baby!

So booked in for a scan for suspected breech at the hospital tomorrow. Means my midwife led unit natural birth plan may be at risk!! I really don't want a section... wish me luck...

So glad the few of you who've had your babies are getting cuddles and all are doing well. 💐

toomanyflatwhites · 24/05/2019 05:20

Hmm it's all fine rather quiet around here! Hope the scan goes ok today @Ksjourney and yes @Kescilly how is he doing?

I'm 37 weeks today (eeeek!!) and it's my final day at work. Have been feeling super stressed between work and trying to decide what to do about buying/selling houses and flats and have been awake since 3am which is a bit less than ideal! Hoping I can get through the day and finish what I need to finish at work, am a bit in denial that after today that's it!! 😳

Napssavelives · 24/05/2019 06:22

Same as me 37 weeks today. I’m so done! Baby measuring around 5.5lbs on Monday, want him to stay in until next Tuesday so we can get through half term then we are good to go

hexagon01 · 24/05/2019 07:07

It was supposed to be my last day at work yesterday but I was still in hospital (home now) so I’m going on for a half day on Tuesday to tie up my loose ends 😫 oh well, only a half day. I’ll be 37 weeks on Sunday, feels like such a milestone,

toomanyflatwhites · 24/05/2019 08:02

@Napssavelives I'm nervous of an early arrival too, I need to at least try and rest a bit before labour 🙄 Hope yours holds on too! Interesting they are giving you a weight, was that at a scan or just by measuring?
@hexagon01 uuurrrr poor you! I was considering adding an extra day on Tuesday as I'm in such a panic about finishing everything but I think I just need to reach the point where I know where to draw a line under my work and step away, I'm quite sure everything won't really fall apart without me!!

Napssavelives · 24/05/2019 10:34

Growth scan

Kescilly · 24/05/2019 11:26

Thanks for asking, @hexagon01 and @toomanyflatwhites. He’s at home and doing okay although they are monitoring his heart for a month. Every day that passes uneventfully is good.

Section is booked for Tuesday and I still feel really detached. The thought of having to see my in-laws after is making me resentful because I’m really missing my parents right now.

rollerskaterdata · 24/05/2019 11:28

@Heyha thanks hun, now 39+1 and still hanging on despite being in latent labour for 2 weeks now. Getting increasingly irritable and fed up by the day 😂🙄

@Ksjourney let us know how your scan goes!

hexagon01 · 24/05/2019 13:22

@Kescilly I’m so glad he’s doing well, and also really sad for you that your parents can’t be here for the birth. Hopefully things will keep improving for him and he’ll be able to travel over at some point.

hexagon01 · 24/05/2019 13:26

Bit of a crap morning here, had my growth scan and baby is transverse at 36+5. At first they said I might need to be admitted from 37 weeks (aka Sunday) but now I’m going in next Thursday for a repeat scan and if she’s still transverse I’ll definitely be kept in and will probably have a section booked for a couple of days after that. I didn’t realise how dangerous transverse lays can be and am a little bit freaked out. I was hoping for a section closer to 40 weeks but obviously will do whatever is safest.

Blondcat · 24/05/2019 13:38

@hexagon01 sorry to hear this. Mine was transverse at 36+2 I freaked out too but couple of days later she had turned on her own. I have an appointment on Tuesday (37+4) to check she is still in the head down position otherwise will likely be admitted too. Try not to panic the thing I was told was if waters go put your head down on the floor /bed and raise your hips and immediately call for an ambulance.

@kescilly sorry about your dad hope you are ok.

rollerskaterdata · 24/05/2019 13:49

Bloody heck, I've just been admitted to hospital after another episode of reduced movements.

At 39+1 I don't think I'm leaving without a baby

toomanyflatwhites · 24/05/2019 15:00

@Kescilly I'm so sorry your parents won't be able to come and I think it's perfectly understandable and normal to feel a bit detached. Even without the family situation I think it's quite common to start feeling like the whole upcoming birth situation is unreal, it's just so hard to wrap your head around.
@hexagon01 sorry for your news too and hope you are ok and can stay calm until next week.
@rollerskaterdata eek! Hope everything goes ok, keeping everything crossed for you and hopefully you'll be holding your baby very soon.
I'm a few hours away from the end of my last day at work which is WEIRD. I've been managing ok given the fact I only had 4 hours sleep, but have a feeling I'm going to crash as soon as I leave work at 5 and DP has invited his friend over for dinner 😳

Ksjourney · 24/05/2019 15:00

Gosh loads going on! Lots and lots of good luck to those of you with hospital appointments and waiting on medical decisions about when to have these babies! It really gets real doesn't it! I spent the night googling outcome rates for ECV and Breech birth vs c section. Went in fully ready to fight my corner for an elected c section with no intervention to try to move the baby but it was unnecessary as my little bean must have decided to move in the night and has been confirmed as head down (she spent most the night moving to be honest so doesn't surprise me). She is not in a great position for labour but she has time to move anterior and get engaged, so for now I am back to waiting and have been given the green light to go on the midwife led unit if I choose 👍.

LivingOnAPear · 24/05/2019 18:00

Well I wrote a really long message tagging people with individual messages and my phone deleted it. Grrr.

Congrats to @swiftfox and @paulhollywoodssexgut and anyone else I have missed.

@hexagon01 hope the little one moves for you. At least they have picked up on it before labour.

@rollerskaterdata hope you are getting on ok.

@kescilly sorry to see about your dad. It must be hard being so far away. Hope you get to see them in person soon and good luck for Tuesday.

@toomanyflatwhites we’ve been selling and buying houses too. Our place sold in 4 days luckily and then we found somewhere the next week. I’ve been having twinges since yesterday so was worried the surveyor would show up this morning to find me in labour in my birthing pool. He did laugh at it in the living room.
Been sat attached to a TENs machine all afternoon looking at house-buying paperwork. All this has totally distracted me from the fact that the baby might arrive soon. I’m 38 weeks so hope it is soon but my daughter was so late that I feel silly hoping for different result this time.

Anyone else getting lots of pains but not contractions?

allfurcoatnoknickers · 24/05/2019 18:25

@hexagon01 My consultant got a bit exasperated this week that I didn't realize how serious a footling breech is Hmm I don't have to go to hospital, but I'm not allowed to stray far, and have to go in as soon as I feel as much as a twinge.

It's a long weekend here and I'll be spending it on the sofa, when my friends invited us to their beach house Angry

toomanyflatwhites · 24/05/2019 18:28

Wow @LivingOnAPear that's pretty amazingly fast on the house front!! I am horrified because the vendors who have accepted our offer have given us a 3 week window to find a buyer which exactly matches up to my due date!!
@Ksjourney oooh great news! And still time for a bit more movement in the right direction!
Just home from my last day at work - I MADE IT!! Not entirely sure how I got through the day to be honest, and am sitting looking at wet washing that needs hanging now and I can't move myself off the bed 🤪

LivingOnAPear · 24/05/2019 18:41

@toomanyflatwhites wow that’s a lot of pressure. Hopefully you will sell it soon.

Ksjourney · 24/05/2019 19:43

Don't get off the bed @toomanyflatwhites I am definitely in the camp of store up energy for labour rather than run yourself ragged before baby arrives.

hexagon01 · 24/05/2019 20:55

Thanks for your words everyone. It’s been a rough week but I’m feeling okay about it now. Did you feel your baby move @Blondcat? I’m paying so much attention to movements now! But I am also terrible at knowing baby positioning, and I had a midwife appointment an hour before my scan and she thought the baby was head down then so I just have no idea how I’d know (other than waiting for my next scan of course!). Fingers crossed that yours stays head down!!

@rollerskaterdata good luck!! Hope to hear some lovely baby news soon.

@toomanyflatwhites good luck with the house stuff. I thought moving at 29 weeks was bad! I’m sure whatever happens will be right for you all in the end 🤞🏼

@allfurcoatnoknickers it’s almost like we’re not obstetric professionals isn’t it! I had no idea about anything like this really and I try not to do too much googling... hope you enjoy your sofa and don’t spend too much time pinning for the beach house...

HoneyPea · 24/05/2019 21:19

@allfurcoatnoknickers we are footling breech too 🙋‍♀️ Went for the scan to check for low lying placenta (it had moved) and ended up booking a ELC anyway because baby is breech 🤦‍♀️
One of the midwives mentioned getting to hospital quickly if my waters broke (by ambulance if we could see a cord) but apart from that they didn't make it sound to serious.

Blondcat · 24/05/2019 21:21

@hexagon01 nope I had lots of movements but nothing which decided she had moved. My midwife and the student midwife both thought head down the day before my scan which showed she was transverse then the doctor thought head down the next day but wasn't confirmed until scan the next day and then scan again two days after that. I had had quite a lot of bug movements over those few days but nothing I could say for sure was her moving. I am still not convinced she will stay head down as she was breech in the last scan before the transverse one but I have to believe for my own sanity that she is (getting quite a heavy feeling down below which I wasn't before she was confirmed head down so holding on to that is what makes me think she is still in correct position). Hopefully yours will turn the right way and stay there too.
I am sure the babies are just trying to keep us on our toes and tell us who is boss little monkeys...

allfurcoatnoknickers · 24/05/2019 22:06

@hexagon01 I know! Sorry for not panicking 🙄 I didn't realize I was supposed to be worried.

I'm not proud of it, but I'm sulking about not being able to go to the beach. I had a donut to make myself feel better though, which perked me up a bit.

@HoneyPea This one has one leg up by his face, and one leg stretched all the way down, with his head jammed between my ribs. It's not comfy. My consultant just made a fuss about me going several hours away from my hospital, to a town with no hospital. To be fair, she has a point.

WeeBean · 25/05/2019 09:16

Sorry some of you are having a rough/stressful time with one thing or another! Hopefully all these babies in awkward positions get moving soon. I've found some consultants really lack people skills so don't let their bluntness bother you too much, I swear they expect us to be as knowledgeable as them but also hate us googling to find stuff out too!

@Kescilly I'm really sorry to hear you're struggling, hopefully your mum at least will be able to get over soon if your dad is well enough for her to visit. Glad to hear your dad is doing ok though, long may that continue! Massive good luck for Tuesday too!

toomanyflatwhites · 25/05/2019 10:02

Just need to vent - am SO ANGRY with DP this morning, we are spending the weekend visiting my parents but main motivation is that he can do his hobby while we are there (can't be done in London) and rbis morning he couldn't find something so he ended up throwing the entire contents of a cupboard everywhere...made a huge mess, smashed several lightbulbs, basically total dick behaviour. If I wasn't 37 weeks pregnant and looking after a 3 year old I'd tell him where to fucking go rather than pandering to his bloody activities but don't really have a choice. Gaaaaaaaaaaa 😡
