I have two star wraps already (first two sizes) had told myself if we had a girl i would get a pink/lilac one. But i might get one anyway Grin

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 12/06/2019 12:11

@IVEgottheDECAF oh my word they’re so cute! Look so snuggly and soft too

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 12/06/2019 12:13

The nap sacks also look ideal for in the carrycot out and about in winter and no faff getting baby in and out of it pramsuit - just leave the sack/nest in the carrycot and off you go. Thanks for the link!

@boodles101 yay for sleeping through. Had a good night here too, with no naked shenanigans at 9.30pm!

@bridgetjonesdaquiri probably won't get a pram suit straight away. I found we barely used it with a November baby because we used a combination of layers, Star Wrap and blankets mostly (and also didn't walk much for a while because the weather was SO awful!) . Will see how things are when the weather changes.

GemmaJen · 12/06/2019 13:53

@Megan2018 it's been a struggle. Not much chance of improvement and box rest is getting difficult as they're getting pent up and aggressive. Sadly they are only young so just really crap all-round. Vet and farrier in agreement now, so just a matter of arranging things.I'm sorry to hear yours has some challenges, they're such lovely animals but it's all very stressful and costly when things aren't quite right. Hopefully next spring will be easier than you imagine.

TheCraicDealer · 12/06/2019 14:12

Forgot a star wrap and carrier off my list 🤦🏼‍♀️ suspect DSis will get us the wrap as she keeps nagging me to choose a colour! She's like a one-woman advertising campaign for that Tuppence crowd. If it's colder I'll use a pramsuit she got given after DNephew was born- he was born at the end of March, someone got him it as a gift in 0-3m and it was such old stock Mothercare wouldn't exchange it. This baby girl better like blue Grin

That holiday it just convinced me a carrier is a must. DH and I enjoy a good cobbley village or stately home visit and some places just aren't set up for buggy use. Thinking about the Ergobaby Omni 360 as well BridgetJonesDaiquiri - Natural Baby Shower do periodic 10% off carriers so will probably get one there.

Stroan · 12/06/2019 14:19

For baby carriers, I highly recommend checking out a sling library if you have one nearby. They are SO personal and I made some costly mistakes buying carriers that didn't work for us.

Megan2018 · 12/06/2019 14:24

@GemmaJen
Such a bloody horrible call to make isn't it. And awful when they are young. Urrgghh. It's a bloody stupid hobby sometimes. This one has had 2 general anaesthetics for different injuries on the same leg, fortunately all covered by NFU as £10k of surgery on a coblet worth a few £ is mad when you think about it! 3 years out of the last 7 have been spent on box rest and rehab. But we do the best for them and that includes deciding when enough is enough.

I don't think babies can be any more stressful.

Megan2018 · 12/06/2019 14:27

I've bought a 2nd hand Close Caboo sling to start with as liked the reviews - it was cheap on ebay (but in almost new condition) so will try that out first then sling library after that.
I think it is a bit like nappies - what one suits another won't.

TheCraicDealer · 12/06/2019 14:33

Our local sling library has closed, unfortunately- it had been my plan to hire one initially. Even then the ones they had all seemed to be the wrap-style ones which I'm not keen on, they're too footery for me.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 12/06/2019 14:38

I have a close caboo sling that I used with DD and will use again from newborn and highly recommend - however I only wanted to use it round the house/garden last time as it felt a little too light for out of the house use. So after something a little more robust for out and about that both of us can use (but not so robust as the baby Bjorn we have which I found too rigid). The ergobaby looks like a happy medium - soft fabric but still structured. Will check out sling library though!

Stroan · 12/06/2019 14:38

@thecraicdealer yeah, too footery for me as well. I can see myself dropping the baby while wrapping myself up and they look unbearably hot. Although the Close Caboo is pre-tied so I found that one fine.

I think you can do postal hire for some places too. I could recommend a Connecta or Tula, but that's pointless since you have a completely different body and baby!

TheCraicDealer · 12/06/2019 15:03

I've long suspected that I'm dyspraxic so anything which requires folding, tying, passing fabric through hoops etc. plus a wriggly baby would probably end in disaster. I want some clips dammit!

I also liked the look of the boba carriers (apparently excellent for babies on the small side) but the omni is always raved about on here which swayed me. I'm going to look for postal hire though, didn't even know that was a thing! Thank you!

Moraxella · 12/06/2019 15:10

I got a boba x off amazon because mumsnet rated it and suitable from birth til a lot bigger. Got it after first scan, probs a bit of a bold purchase but it’s a done deal now 💆‍♀️

TwittleBee · 12/06/2019 15:19

Cant believe we've nearly filled another one up! Chatty bunch

Hsunshine · 12/06/2019 17:29

@GemmaJen that’s the changing bag I brought too!
