@KnobJockey I had the next to me for Dd and will use it again. The mothercare fitted crib sheets fit it perfectly too. Not the Moses basket sheets the next size up, (I'm sure they are labelled as crib sheets). They had some lovely colours/patterns last time!

Florencenotflo · 09/06/2019 21:37

And we had a successful ikea trip today! All of DD's furniture (cot bed and chest of drawers) will be moved into baby's room. We've already got Dd a new bed, but we got her a new chest of drawers too and some more storage for her fucking hundreds of teddies. And of course a Kallax unit for babies room 😂

excitednerves · 09/06/2019 22:22

@whisky2014 we just got the super basic Gulliver one. I splashed out on a pocket spring mattress though. We needed a super compact cot for our room as we won’t have a nursery until we move into a new place next year.

Hsunshine · 09/06/2019 22:24

How many sheets for Moses basket + pram and then cot bed is a good amount to get?

Megan2018 · 09/06/2019 22:47

@Hsunshine
I’ve got 4 for my bedside crib plus mattress protector. That felt ok to me but no idea!
I have been given 3 moses basket sheets which might fit pram so will start with those.

Cotbed I’ll wait and see, hopefully by time baby in it I’ll have a clue...Grin

KnobJockey · 10/06/2019 06:59

If I remember rightly you need tons of either sheets or muslins to go on top of sheets- babies tend to do a fair amount of posseting after feeding so you end up with a little crusty bit next to their head by most mornings!

KnobJockey · 10/06/2019 06:59

Florence, that's good info, thank you!

Megan2018 · 10/06/2019 08:34

@KnobJockey
Yes I’m planning on adding muslins to sheets. Have loads! And layering sheet, muslin, sheet, muslin so don’t have to faff about in middle of night changing sheets.

DustyDoorframes · 10/06/2019 08:55

I've always just had two sheets, and that been fine- but yes yes to having a muslin at pillow height! Crucial!

TwittleBee · 10/06/2019 09:17

Same as Dusty - just 2!

TwittleBee · 10/06/2019 09:30

Okay so some total BS - DH and I do not qualify for SPL because I'll be claiming MA & ML rather than SMP & SML ...

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/06/2019 09:31

Oh dear twittle Sad DP is self employed so likely wont take any time off here

TwittleBee · 10/06/2019 09:43

hmmm maybe I am wrong - someone else on my thread about the SPL appears to reckon we will be eligible!? Bloody confusing this.

Lavellan · 10/06/2019 09:56

@iano I am thinking of buying the epi-no. I might be a bit mad but I'm willing to give it a shot. The thought of scissors down there is def the worst bit for me.

Did see there are used ones for sale on ebay! They are expensive new but I don't think any amount is enough for me to use something that has been up someone else's vagina! Shock

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/06/2019 09:58

I did see your thread twittle i would call the number suggested and hopefully theyll confirm you can do it!

TwittleBee · 10/06/2019 10:23

Yeah you are right Decaf - they will be best to give the advice, gonna give them a call on my next day off (or if i get a moment alone in the office)

DustyDoorframes · 10/06/2019 10:53

Ugh Twittle I did think they'd sorted that out, but it was definitely rubbish like that when SPL started. There was an outcry though so hopefully now better! Let us know what the phone people say! We are both self employed so no subsidised sharing for us, and no paternity pay whatsoever.

kyles101 · 10/06/2019 13:25

Yeah the self employed part is crap, nothing for dh either - he'll have a week maybe 2 if I twist his arm but unlikely.

Poor twittle hopefully you will qualify - it will be another one for the seriously unfair pile if not.

iano · 10/06/2019 13:27

@Lavellan I'm also toying with the idea. Haha! They do seem a lot cheaper on eBay. My MW suggested getting a second hand one and a new balloon attachment but I haven't been able to find out where to get that... new ones seem very expensive so I dong really know what to do.

Lavellan · 10/06/2019 13:46

@iano I didn't see them selling seperately which is a shame because I don't like the plastic waste.

TwittleBee · 10/06/2019 14:08

Okay so they are super helpful and I do qualify for MA and because of that DH will qualify for ShPP & leave... Bloody confusing this!

Those who are self-employed or have self-employed DPs - blimey! Makes extra effort on top of already stresses of being self-employed! Take my hat off to you all.

iano · 10/06/2019 15:32

@Lavellan I'm with you. I'll ask my MW where she thinks they can be bought and will let you know if she has any specific ideas. Due to see her on 21st June

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 10/06/2019 16:10

Anyone else just feeling generally rubbish!? I'm assuming it's hormones but I have barely managed anything today. Dd has spend far more time in front of CBeebies than I would normally allow and we were half an hour late to our normal toddler group - I thought getting out of the house would do me good but since getting back I can't stop crying for no reason!! Gah.

kyles101 · 10/06/2019 17:22

EPI-no ladies - you got me curious so I've googled and come across this one... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0752FRBS6/ref=cmcrarpmbbdcrb_top?ie=UTF8
I assume this is the same sort of thing? Hmmmm will be giving this some thought.

@Littlehouseinthebigcity I felt like this a couple of weeks back; and think everyone was having a rough week last week - must be some kind of mid point hormone thing? I'd roll with it, have a chill or day or two, you'll come out the other side, promise Smile

DustyDoorframes · 10/06/2019 19:29

@TwittleBee it's not all bad- DP is able to arrange his work to be mostly on hand while I'm not working, so even though he actually works more then (to make up for me working less), he also does a lot of appearing with lunch and popping out with a child for half an hour so I can sleep.so you win some! (In our case- his work is very much on his terms as long as he does it)
