@ivegotthedecaf I love the naps! I'm being avoiding nap dropping for ages. She didn't always have one but often needed it and it never affected her sleep at night. It seems to be a vicious circle now because if she naps, she doesn't sleep at night and is then even more tired. But I am going to miss them plus I have weeks of nap-dropping hell to get through.

boodles101 · 11/06/2019 11:00

I'm not sure DS is ready to drop the nap completely but I'm going to start limiting it to an hour max. He's just a complete whinging mess cos he's tired and frustrated and I'm the same!

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/06/2019 11:01

We are lucky our ds can sleep 3 hours after lunch and still sleep all night! Dc3 however started giving up naps at about 14 months Shock

Moraxella · 11/06/2019 11:15

I’m doing a last min u-turn on antenatal classes but will have to go alone which I’m a bit sad about. Anyone done signature or essentials with NCT? Would prefer to learn about what to do with it when it comes out rather than labour, which suggests essentials might be better, but the signature one is down the road so I am paying for friends I might not make.. aaah.

TwittleBee · 11/06/2019 11:15

DS cannot drop his nap, it makes bed time hell because he becomes super clingy and a completely manic mess. All he needs in an hour pre lunch and he can then make it till 7pm.

@IVEgottheDECAF the SMP1 form, just got my director to fill it out.

TwittleBee · 11/06/2019 11:16

@Moraxella the signature course tailors to what you want to learn about as a group. For us we only had 1 or 2 sessions on the birth and the rest was about life with a newborn

Megan2018 · 11/06/2019 11:27

@Moraxella
We are doing signature as that was the only option here. First class tonight so I will report back!
DH is threatening not to go though as he hates the thought of it and the timing not great (he has very early starts with work and usually in bed by 9pm - the class is 7-9.30pm) so I may up doing a lot on my own :(

Moraxella · 11/06/2019 11:32

Thanks Twittle. Also regret not takin up that mega discount code with the positive birth company for the hypnobirthing course - if anyone has a promo code... 😇😇😇

I’m trying to be more proactive and less depressed 🙃

TwittleBee · 11/06/2019 12:06

Doing it on your own isn't a total waste as long as your partners are prepared to still do the homework with you and actually listen to what you've learnt.

There were a few sessions where DH didn't attend or other partners didn't come. They didn't miss out too much but all were prepared to take on board what we learnt etc.

Dyra · 11/06/2019 16:36

Oh drat. I forgot to ask about NHS antenatal classes at 25 week appointment. Worst comes to the worst I might be able to sign up to NCT, but getting to my 'local' one might be a struggle. Not too phased about labour, it's how to look after the result I need help with!

Megan2018 · 11/06/2019 16:47

@Dyra
Have a look on your hospital maternity services website - ours has details of the NHS classes local to me (although they are crap here - a single day, miles away) hence doing NCT which is just down the road.

happydays00 · 11/06/2019 17:00

Hi all, haven't been on for a while. We had two (childfree) nights away last week for my birthday and now back to reality.

I've reached that point where I feel like I've been pregnant forever and still have months to go 😩 I'm sure I will feel better after my next consultant appointment next week to discuss the excess fluid levels (and whether they have increased/maintained or decreased) but I feel huge and uncomfortable and have basically had enough.

Rant over. When's the sun coming out again? I feel sure that would cheer me up a bit!

Solidarity on the terrible 2s: DD is having some horrendous moments. Honestly, in the aftermath I feel a bit traumatised. I just keep telling myself "this too shall pass" and trying not to think about how shouty I'll be when I have a newborn to contend with too 😳

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/06/2019 17:53

According to my weather app Sunday onwards is a bit less wet ☔

I keep flitting between "i have 12 more weeks of this crap to endure" and "baby could be here in 10 weeks and i own no carseat, pram or bottles"

Hsunshine · 11/06/2019 18:05

I have booked NCT & NHS classes, my NCT are very late so at least if I don’t get to finish them I’ll have had nhs ones done

Hsunshine · 11/06/2019 18:20

@IVEgottheDECAF last week I was all 12 weeks is forever and now they said they might induce early I’m thinking even 12 weeks isn’t long enough to prepare. I have a whole nursery ready to go but don’t have the actual necessary things like bottles or blankets or a Moses basket

excitednerves · 11/06/2019 18:25

With 12 weeks to go I haven’t really thought about the actual arrival of baby yet. I’m so focussed on finishing up work, labour, getting stuff ready... doing the stuff... I think it’s probably not really hit me that there will be an actual baby in a very short time. It still feels ages away!

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/06/2019 18:38

10-12 weeks isnt really that long is it!

Need to make a list of things we still need i think

Hsunshine · 11/06/2019 18:52

Does anyone know / experienced what happens when babies growth keeps dropping? Had a scan last week where has dropped a lot and another next week to see if dropped more or steadied but I don’t think I personally have gotten any bigger in the last week

stormtrooperjulian · 11/06/2019 18:57

@ColdCottage I was referred to a specialist travel clinic when my GP got twitchy about prescribing anti malarials during my pregnancy and I was told there to use 50% DEET (and also given the exact anti malarials I had requested in the first place after doing a lot of research 🙄 I hate how doctors treat pregnant women like idiots)

boodles101 · 11/06/2019 19:36

I think I'm also in denial that 2 babies will be here in max 10 weeks! I'll know more after my scan and consultant appt next week, but because so far I've had very little monitoring, it hasn't really sunk in what's happening! I apparently have 50% chance that babies will arrive before 36weeks, so that's even sooner!! Shock

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/06/2019 19:52

Very daunting boodles! I think i would be in panic mode of baby 5 was actually 5&6!

Stroan · 11/06/2019 19:56

I would definitely be panicking more if I was waiting for two babies! As it is, I'm over the moon that I have less than 11 weeks to go. I'm rubbish at being pregnant. the only good thing is that it feels like it is going very fast.

TheCraicDealer · 11/06/2019 20:56

Hi evrybady! Got back from France yesterday, wasn't much of a holiday what with being with a twenty and three month old Grin they're very good but seeing how much messing about DSis and DBil do trying to organise them for days out and then how much of a hinderance a double pram is in touristy places really hammered home to me Just How Much Our Lives Are About To Change.

I have really really popped bump-wise. I'm 25w and look bigger than my colleague's DD who is 37w. I'm getting a bit embarrassed tbh, I feel really big. We have a few friends who are also due in September and from the pictures they've been putting up you just wouldn't know they're ahead of me. I know everyone's different and I'm incredibly lucky but it's getting me down a bit.

We're building the nursery furniture at the moment- the Argos set arrived and it's lovely! I've replaced the standard pewter knobs with some brushed gold ones and it looks v smart. We're not building the cot though as getting a lend of a Tutti Bambini cozee whatsit bedside crib for our room and I need the space in the nursery for my dressing table which is being displaced [sob]

A girl I know is a week ahead of me and she's set up her beside crib already. I wouldn't want to be falling over it heavily pregnant for another 14w but the urge to nest is so strong I suppose!

Florencenotflo · 11/06/2019 21:00

29 weeks here, I'm convinced baby will be here a bit early. I'm so uncomfy, baby is already head down and very low. I know she could move yet but that does explain why I'm feeling heavy down there.

We did an ikea trip on Sunday but now just have a spare room full of flat pack 😂 but I seem to have got that nesting urge today. I'm driving DH mad! I've booked and paid for the dishwasher to be replaced tomorrow, it's been fucked for ages and driving me mad, the oven is also being repaired tomorrow. I've booked the day off next week and arranged for Mum to have Dd so that DH and I can build furniture and sort out both DD's room and baby's room!

Then that leaves me free to start sorting out all the clothes and stuff we have in the loft.

All finally feels quite real!

Fortheloveofscience · 11/06/2019 21:05

I’m getting really stressed at how unprepared we are.

Haven’t bought anything yet other than 1 sleep suit we bought after the 20 week scan.

Still waiting for a date to get our kitchen done, and need to switch over the bedrooms upstairs. Last few months are going to be mental and baby better not come early!
