@smartcarnotsosmartdriver

How come you have had to do 2 tests?

Has anyone packed their hospital bag? I think after my NCT it's all going to feel very real.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 08/10/2019 15:51

The first one was at 28 weeks because of my BMI. Baby is measuring above the 95th percentile on growth scans now though so they sent me for another. If this one is clear then they'll probably send me for another at my next growth scan if he's still big. They just like poking holes in me I think.

aliensprig · 08/10/2019 16:15

So apparently big bump doesn't equal measuring big... Just had first measurement at 28 weeks and baby measuring on the smaller side. Sending my anxiety into overdrive :( what was everyone else's predicted weight at 28 weeks? I'm getting 2.4lbs / 1100g and 27cm fundal height. Is that normal?!

Really rubbish that you still get the comments off people even though you know baby's measuring small :( so desperately want a home birth but feel like things aren't going to work out like that!

I won't give my measurements as I'm high BMI and tall and I'm having a giant baby. However when I had my first growth scan they seemed happy with anything that measured within the range of "normal" between those 2 lines and you are in there so I'd say that looks good?

aliensprig · 08/10/2019 17:17

Sorry, didn't mean to pry. My bmi isn't great either, plus I'm short so maybe that's why I feel so massive!

Think I'm just looking for things to worry about tbh.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 08/10/2019 17:19

Not at all! I just don't want to freak you out with the measurements of my giant baby if you're worried yours is small x

Funnybunnyfluff · 08/10/2019 18:05

My bump was 28cm on my 28week scan which I was exactly 28weeks and said baby was roughly 2lbs.

Baby was in its side and she said everything looks fine nothing to worry about.

Have another scan tomorrow before consultant appointment which is only 2 weeks since my last scan. They messed it up last time and did consultant then scan rather than the other way round.

Will let u know if they say baby is small 🤷‍♀️

Wubbawubba · 09/10/2019 10:39

@Funnybunnyfluff Haven't done it yet but have done my list, next time I'm paid I'm buying all the last little bits and packing. I'm not putting anything in that's perishable so I think why not just be prepared. Smile

@aliensprig Sorry to hear you're worrying. I've got no idea what my measurements are as all of my notes are in an app (going paperless in the area I guess?) and I don't think I have access to the chart. Sad

I know easier said than done but try not to worry yourself. Is midwife concerned? Are they sending you for a growth scan?

codenameduchess · 09/10/2019 10:51

@aliensprig if it's in that normal range, which yours is, it's nothing to worry about. do you have another growth scan?

I've just had my 2nd growth scan at 32 weeks and baby has grown a lot since the 28 week one but is still in that normal range (which is calculated from the scan measurements and your info so height/weight) so there's no big concern.

Funnybunnyfluff · 09/10/2019 23:56

Had another growth scan only 2 weeks after my last better measurement. Baby 3Ibs6 the Sono said that's average, I'm 30 weeks. Consultant seemed happy. Gives me a little less stress for now.

aliensprig · 10/10/2019 11:24

Unfortunately they don't offer any more scans on the NHS where we live, which sucks, so I have to take my midwife's word that it's all fine! I am tempted by a private scan but I know I'm overreacting (blaming pregnancy hormones/recent antidepressants switchover).

It's good to hear they offer later scans elsewhere though, I think that's really beneficial for anxious parents! Wish my area would take note!!

codenameduchess · 10/10/2019 12:07

@aliensprig usually later scans are for growth because it's a high risk pregnancy/there's a problem- all trusts will offer where needed although I'm sure consultants will have different approaches. Not needing any extra is generally a good thing.

You can get great offers on private scans, but the sooner the better right now as it's harder to see anything as baby gets bigger. It's lovely seeing them so clearly and you'll get a well being check too

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 10/10/2019 13:41

Same as a@codenameduchess we're only having so many scans because baby is so big and they need them to decide if I'll be induced/have a caesarean. If your midwife has no concerns about baby's size then that's really good news. I know it's so hard not to worry but if your midwife had any concerns at all she'd get you whipped right in for whatever she thought was required, this just means it's all going as it should.

lovebeingmum9 · 11/10/2019 17:51

Hi all I had my 32wk scan today and baby is estimated at 4lb 11oz.....8 weeks to go! my belly button has popped, belly feels solid and I sometimes feel pressure down below where his head must be pushing! the end is in sight now though and getting quite excited now 😁

codenameduchess · 13/10/2019 14:36

So, I've had the call.... GTT results were slightly elevated and just above the normal range so I need to do blood monitoring and keep a diary from tomorrow.
It's explains baby's massive jump in growth but I'm now concerned that I won't get the relaxed, natural birth I wanted.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 13/10/2019 18:35

@codenameduchess I think it just depends how your levels are managed throughout your pregnancy. I met a woman last week when I was up for my GTT who was able to have a normal birth as her GD was dietary controlled?

spice3 · 16/10/2019 14:53

Jumping on (late)!

I'm 29+4 weeks today Smile

JayDot500 · 16/10/2019 16:05

Welcome @spice3 Smile

Jowd92 · 16/10/2019 16:40

I've been watching this thread for a while also late jumping on, I have growth scans coming up also like some others have my first one being on monday also have consultant that day too had my flu jab yesterday and feeling a little sorry for my self with a dead arm and a runny nose although I thought it wasn't a live vaccine it cant be coincidence I now have cold like symptoms the day after having it? Anyone else had this also suffering terribly with my pgp specialy at night I cant get comfy at all have my first hydrotherapy appointment too for the end of this month do

aliensprig · 17/10/2019 11:16

@Jowd92 unfortunately it is just a coincidence, the flu jab can't make you ill (it's a dead virus). Getting actual flu in pregnancy can be very dangerous, so you'll be glad you had it when everyone else is suffering! There is a LOT of misinformation from antivaxxers on social media etc that is best ignored for your own safety. I am definitely having mine done in a couple of weeks time if that reassures you at all.

December2019 · 17/10/2019 12:31

When I had my flu jab a couple of weeks ago the nurse told me that if your feeling a little bit run down and you've got a cold "brewing" sometimes the flu jab can bring it out and make you feel crap

codenameduchess · 17/10/2019 14:09

Like @aliensprig said, it's not a live virus and can't make you ill- I've just had the debate with my mum as she refuses to get it because it 'makes everyone ill'... it's a literal life saver for anyone vulnerable.

Funnybunnyfluff · 17/10/2019 15:18

I too have had this argument trying to explain that it's not a live virus. 🙈

Wish people would listen lol family, who would have them 😂

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 17/10/2019 16:47

Definitely not a live virus but the same as any vaccine you can have a response to it which can make you feel a bit crap. I've had it a couple of times and it usually pretty quickly.
We got our Scottish government baby box today! It's great, there's loads in it!

JayDot500 · 19/10/2019 09:11

Anybody else having difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping positions?😩

Front= No
Back, even when slightly elevated = elephant sitting on me
Left side = okay at first, but eventually burns/aches. I've got some SPD so turning in bed is awful. My crotch feels/sounds like old grinding metal gears.
Right Side = see left side and invert it.

If I could sleep on my side on top of soft ice that turns to a hot bath on a whim, I'd be sorted.
