Have you already decided your date @smartcarnotsosmartdriver ? I'm thinking of 13th November... or a few days before if flexi time allows, and hopefully have at least a week or two before baby arrives (this one could be like it's big sister and come early so we're planning on that).

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 06/08/2019 21:42

@codenameduchess I need something to look forward to. I have a weeks holiday left to take so thinking of starting on the 11th with a weeks holiday, may leave would start 18th, due on the 27th. Obviously if I'm in much more pain than I think I'll be in or if something else comes up then I might end up off earlier but we'll see.

Emmilou82 · 08/08/2019 06:18

Morning ladies, it's been a while since I last posted but I've been reading in the background.... glad to hear everyone is doing well and your pregnancies are progressing.

Is anyone swelling yet?! My legs, ankles and feet and swelling terribly everyday and I'm so uncomfortable! I'm only 20+6 and dread what I'm going to be like further down the line. I don't know if to speak to the midwife or just accept that is normal!

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 08/08/2019 07:18

Morning @Emmilou82. I have a little swelling and mentioned it to my midwife. She wants me to keep an eye on it as I'm at high risk of preeclampsia. It's probably nothing but I think it's worth mentioning.

Emmilou82 · 08/08/2019 08:11

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver thank you...., I don't see her again until 6th September but I have her mobile number. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to contact her on it though! Perhaps I'll ring my GP surgery first and ask them!
I've added a cities of my foot from last night and it's not much less in a morning Confused

Picture not cities lol

codenameduchess · 08/08/2019 08:26

Is it just the one that's swollen @Emmilou82 ? I'd get in touch with your midwife or gp today to get checked out... it could be nothing but best to get looked at. And that looks really uncomfortable.

December2019 · 08/08/2019 08:36

@Emmilou82 yeah I agree to go and get it checked, some swelling is normal but I think I didn't really notice swelling until I was about 30 weeks last time and then I was having weekly appointments to check blood pressure etc, it could be the weather too my hands & feet swell terrible if it's warm out specially if I've been on my feet all day

Emmilou82 · 08/08/2019 08:38

I have a weak left side after being poorly as a child ( a bit like a stroke symptom) so it is worse on my left than right but they are both swollen and very uncomfortable! I'll give them a ring today. Not sure what they can do about it but it's worth mentioning I think
Thanks x

CourgetteAndCrisps · 08/08/2019 10:07

Thank you @codenameduchess and @Fuiseog! I bought leggings yesterday (I just went up a size in Victoria secret) and have my eye on a few tops from New Look.

Loving the idea to look for clothes that I can nurse in too. It doesn't feel right to buy new pieces knowing they'll only last a few months. I'm such a guilty spender!

CourgetteAndCrisps · 08/08/2019 10:14

Ow @Emmilou82 that looks so uncomfortable you poor thing! It's a good idea to speak to your midwife - it's probably just the heat and extra fluid, but sometimes swelling can be a sign of something that midwifes need to keep an eye on.

My feet feel a little plumper at the end of the day, a foot rub from the bf always helps though 😉

Fuiseog · 08/08/2019 17:00

@codenameduchess That's absolutely awful. I'm not UK based so can't offer practical advice about your entitlements but it certainly shouldn't be allowed to happen and morally is reprehensible. I can't believe she said that about withdrawing your application. I hope the outcome is favourable for you.

@Emmilou82 No experience, just sympathy! I hope you've had a chance to speak to your midwife to put your mind at ease or get help.

21+1 today and I saw my belly move when I felt a kick!

Emmilou82 · 08/08/2019 19:03

Thanks ladies.... I got to see my midwife today. My blood pressure is up slightly (higher end of normal) but she isn't hugely concerned. No protein in my urine and she seems to think the swelling is a combination of the weather and just being pregnant. She said I did right in contacting her to check so thank you for your advice 👍 x

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 08/08/2019 19:25

@Emmilou82 so pleased everything's ok, shame that you're so uncomfortable though, the hot weather won't stick around forever, it's already a good bit cooler up here so hopefully that will make things a bit easier for you.

Has anyone else been experiencing rib pain yet? Last few days I've been getting a real ache in my ribs at the left just under my boob. Judging from where I can see him kicking he is moving on up but not that much?

Emmilou82 · 09/08/2019 18:11

Been for my 20 week scan today, I'm actually 21 weeks today but hey ho..... my baby girl is perfect however I have 2 fibroids close to the cervix and I have placenta praevia which I'm a bit gutted about but I'm just pleased baby is doing well x

elephantmarch · 11/08/2019 18:12

@Emmilou82 congratulations on having a little girl! Does placenta prevaria necessitate a c section? I

I’m 24 weeks now and I can’t get the “small “ comment out of my mind especially as I don’t have any more appts for another 4 weeks. Is anyone willing to share their percentages from 20 week scan? These were mine

HC 32nd percentile
TcD 30th
Ac 22nd
Fl 9th
Estimated weight 11th %

codenameduchess · 11/08/2019 18:33

@Emmilou82 9/10 times placenta previa will move before delivery, most likely it will move far enough by the time they check it again.

Emmilou82 · 11/08/2019 18:40

@elephantmarch thank you.....depending if the placenta moves 2cm away from the cervix then I hopefully can have a vaginal delivery. If not it'll be C Section.
Sorry, I'm not sure about the percentile things 😬
@codenameduchess fingers crossed it moves.... the only issue is the 2 fibroids in the way giving the placenta less room to move!!
I'll just have to see what the 32 week scan shows.... 🤞 fingers and toes crossed!

Emmilou82 · 11/08/2019 18:44

@elephantmarch the only things I have from the 20 week scan is

FL 38mm
HC 182mm
AC 160mm
CRB 21.5mm

I don't have any percentages though.

lonelyheartsclubband · 11/08/2019 18:49

Hi and welcome @lonelyheartsclubband 🙋🏻‍♀️

lonelyheartsclubband · 11/08/2019 19:13

Thank you @Emmilou82 🎉

Haven't been on one of these pregnancy threads before 😂 on my 3rd child... although I'm due in December I tend to give birth to prems! 😬

Nojeans · 12/08/2019 09:30

I was wondering how people are coping with the pressures that pregnancy can put on a relationship? This is my first pregnancy and was not planned. I got over the shock quicker than my partner. Over the last few months we have not stopped arguing and I’ve now moved back in with my sister as the stress was doing me no good and we both felt miserable. He’s scared and completely freaking out which is not that helpful for me right now. He says ive changed since I’ve become pregnant. My response to this is how could I not? I also feel like he’s not taking enough interest in the pregnancy - I keep trying to get him to read about babies development/how hormones can effect mum and he just dies by read any of it. Has anyone been through anything similar and had any advice?

lonelyheartsclubband · 12/08/2019 09:58

@Nojeans a lot of men, from my experience, don't take a lot of interest in pregnancies. It's not real for them until the baby is there and they can physically see it. Sounds like you did the right thing by staying with your sister. The last thing any pregnant woman needs is negativity and stress. It's not your responsibility to sort him out, you've got to focus on yourself and the changes to come. 🌸

Funnybunnyfluff · 12/08/2019 14:38

@Nojeans

My husband is more broody than me. im the one that's struggling more to be honest.

My first also and I'm worried about the life change, I get very down in January and the thought of having a new baby In January scares me. Silly I know. The baby was planned but I'm still stressing about the life change.

There is a really good book called pregnancy for men by mark woods. I have been reading it myself and it's a mans book with a lot of humour but also tells the guys what's happening. Iv learnt more front that book myself but it's light hearted and a good read. My DH has a laugh when reading 😂 Wether it's something you could get him?
