Bloody hell

On my feet most of the day. Sat down for half hour and then became completely unable to move my legs Shock Managed it eventually but had to walk half bent at first! My poor body!

Megan2018 · 10/05/2019 09:17

Well that didn't go well!
Pregnancy pillow arrived yesterday - went to sleep all fine, comfy-ish.
However at some point in the night I started thrashing around, woke up soaked in sweat, tangled up in pillow and had a complete panic. Ended up throwing the pillow across the room.
The cats are now sleeping on it.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 10/05/2019 09:17

Poor you @IVEgottheDECAF! Hope you’re feeling a little less creaky this morning.

My acid reflux/heartburn is really ramping up now - spent the past two nights in bed feeling like my throat was on fire. Hello gaviscon, I remember you well from last time.

Also does anyone else’s baby feel like they’re sat directly on/squeezing their bladder? Was sat on the train on the way home, felt fine, didn’t need the loo. Stood up and bam! Urgent pee situation. Almost didn’t make it to train station toilets the urge was that bad. Need to shift this kid further up my body pronto - maybe stand on my head for a while 🤣

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 10/05/2019 09:20

@Megan2018 haha! Which one did you go for? I bloody love mine, think it’s a theraline. Basically a long log that I hug/wrap my leg over. Would sleep with it when not pregnant if DH didn’t hate it so much

DustyDoorframes · 10/05/2019 09:46

Urgh decaf that's grim!
My pelvis has started niggling, which it never did the last 2 times. I think it's the massive hill up to school which is doing it. Argh!
briget oddly, I've totally cut out dairy this week to try and settle my digestion (again, not an issue the last 2 times, but I went off milk as soon as I got PG this time, and things have got err explosive when I've eaten much cheese/buttery pastry etc) and I've had MUCH less heartburn. The times I've had more heartburn this week are the days I've had lots of sweet stuff. I'm not keen to cut whole food groups so not sure whether to try to bring back in a bit of cheese/yogurt or carry on being dairy free for a bit longer, but it certainly seems to be helping.

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri
This one. www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/multipurpose-maternity-body-support-pillow-b6299.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwwtTmBRBqEiwA-b6c_-bzeZVBJ1i9lQ5MykBOpI7z7IYQY7T722lmO5mcSDGKFf0DWMIdjhoCHpQQAvD_BwE
(although from Amazon as it was cheaper)

It started off comfy! But not sure if I'll get on with it - it made me too hot I think.

Farmmama · 10/05/2019 10:43

I’ve been catching up. Re wondering whether to go to hospital or not to get checked out if you’re unsure - PLEASE do! I felt my bump was sore and just didn’t feel right for two days before my waters broke at 33 weeks. Maternity triage told me over the phone to just take paracetamol, but in hindsight I should have gone in to get checked out properly. If I had, they might have spotted my baby was getting ready for an early exit and either been able to keep him in for longer or at least managed to get both sets of steroid injections into me (they’re done 24 hours apart) so his lungs would have had an extra boost. I wish I’d listened to my body more, but not having gone through it before I just didn’t know. If in doubt, get checked out!!

Fortheloveofscience · 10/05/2019 10:52

Megan that does look hot. I went for the dreamgenii, even that’s making me hot and it’s a lot less bulky. Summer nights are not going to be fun!

happydays00 · 10/05/2019 11:10

Oh @Megan2018 that looks v hot!! If it's any consolation both my DH and I were hot last night so maybe it wasn't the pillow? Just a warmer night than the last few? Clutching at straws here but hoping your purchase isn't wasted...

I've got a couple of holidays coming up next month and am genuinely worried about the thought of not being able to take my BBhugme pillow. I'm going to find a way - I can't imagine ever sleeping without it.

We started moving house yesterday - to be honest I found the whole thing very stressful and had a day of very intense Braxton Hicks. I'm trying to remain calm for the next few days and just stay out the way.

Megan2018 · 10/05/2019 12:05

@Fortheloveofscience
How reversible is the dream genie? I can't sleep on the left but it seems to be geared up for that?
I know it is the recommended side but I have a shoulder injury and lying on my left shoulder is physically impossible.

I think everything makes me hot though - it is just me and the cats in a Superking bed and we still thrash about as I have a sleep disorder too (which is why DH sleeps on his own!).

Lavellan · 10/05/2019 12:09

@Megan2018 you can just flip it over the other way. I turn a bit and you can also do that, although I've found I don't really make full use of the leg bit because putting something in between my knees gives me a really sore hip.

Fortheloveofscience · 10/05/2019 12:15

Yep, agree with Lavellan - it’s basically a long pillow and a little pillow with a bit of sheet in between so you just flip it over to lie on your right. I can’t lie on the same side all night so switch over to sleeping on my right about 3am!

Megan2018 · 10/05/2019 13:52

The one I have is one long pillow when unzipped, it naturally curves but you can straighten it out or zip it into a circular shape for using for baby afterwards - so I think they are quite similar really.

I'll try again tonight and see if it fares any better!

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 10/05/2019 14:29

Just called the GP surgery to ask for an appointment for my hyperemesis as still needing 3 different medications to keep the vomiting reasonably under control (& need another sick note for work). Receptionist said "oh I didn't know people took time off work for morning sickness or actually used tablets. I just went into work." Angry Then you clearly did not have hyperemesis...Hmm Had to cancel my whooping cough vaccine at the surgery last week as I couldn't leave home for long enough with the vomiting to go & get it done.

I already feel guilty about being off work & I'm irrationally angry now! Rant over...

TwittleBee · 10/05/2019 14:34

Oh my goodness, she shouldn't be working that position at all sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops ! I am sorry she made you feel like that. You should consider putting a complaint in just so she doesn't make a mess like that again to someone else!

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/05/2019 16:33

Honestly you would think gp receptionist would have it drilled in to them not to be a knob.

I have started having heart palpitations (i think) never had them in my life, anyone else?

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/05/2019 16:34

Dusty our school is up a big hill too, do you have a pram aged dc i cant remember? I push rather heavy dc4 up that hill daily

Megan2018 · 10/05/2019 16:54

@IVEgottheDECAF
I used to get palpitations occasionally pre pg but had borderline high blood pressure. I've given up caffeine (well apart from what is in chocolate!) and that has stopped it so far.
I'd definitely get that checked out as it might be nothing but could be a sign of something else.

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops - I'd be raging about that too. I hate GP receptionists with a passion!

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/05/2019 17:06

Google seems to suggest palpitations normal. Will see how it goes over weekend and lay off the caffeine

kyles101 · 10/05/2019 17:25

Oooh @Megan2018 I think that looks lovely - it's similar to but better than the one I have, which dh calls my nest anyway but yours is far nestier - I have pillow envy.

@happydays00 try one of those vac pack bag type things for your pillow - it's how we managed to get far more back from our USA trips than we should have fitted into our cases! Although it helps with space, not weight obviously unfortunately.

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops receptionists at my last surgery thought they were fully qualified gps. The ones at my new one seem far nicer thankfully.

TwittleBee · 10/05/2019 17:34

Decaf I suffer from them a lot but then mines anxiety induced. You have been rather busy lately so maybe ensure you can chill a bit?

Fortheloveofscience · 10/05/2019 17:36

@IVEgotthrDECAF I’ve been having more palpitations in pregnancy, but also get them fairly regularly when not pregnant. No issues with blood pressure (if anything it’s low) but generally worse when I’m overly tired, run down or coming down with a bug.

I think the general advice is that as long as they’re not making you breathless, no chest pain and they’re over quickly then nothing to worry about. Mentioned them a couple of times to doctors over the years who couldn’t be less interested!

Babybee88 · 10/05/2019 18:49

@IVEgottheDECAF I was having lots of palpitations up until very recently, maybe worth getting your iron levels checked as mine were caused by iron deficiency anaemia?

BBell2 · 10/05/2019 19:28

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops what an idiot receptionist! Like it's any of their business. Ours are equally awerful, a right pair of sour faces (who announced my last pregnancy to 2 neightbours, loudly when I didn't know where I was between 4 or 7weeks) and yet the ones at the partner practice are wonderful, say hi even if you log in electronically, seem to remember I like first thing appts. Etc. Worth a few extra miles drive!

@twittlebee I think you mentioned a debrief of your last birth? I'd had a letter saying notes will be emailed in 30 days, just before my MW appt. She made it a long one. Letter today saying because of the size of my request (purely notes from the birth) they need 90 days. Was hoping I might be able to relax a bit with them. Did you get anywhere with yours?

Dyra · 10/05/2019 19:51

I also get palpitations on and off. Mine are stress related and ease off over time. Cutting out all caffeine for pregnancy seems to have reduced their frequency as well.

Also had my 20 week scan today. I might have the wriggliest, most stubborn baby I have ever heard of. At the 12 week scan, we couldn't get the nuchal measurement as baby was too active, then fell asleep in just the wrong position. Once again, the sonographer really struggled to get as many of the scans as she did since baby was constantly moving arms and legs, while at the same time, outright refusing to move from the back out, footling breech position it was in throughout. As a result, the spine and arms shadowed all the heart scans, and we didn't get any decent photos to take home, so I go back next week for a second attempt. I remain (and hope to stay that way) team yellow. I'm also on the growth pathway as my uterine arteries were borderline for it, so I get extra scans as well. I was already consultant led due to high BMI, family history of diabetes and now as due to the (low) possibility of an IUGR baby.

The weirdest part was that I truly believed that all the movements I had had was gas since: a. First baby, b. Feeling them since 16-17 weeks, and c. I'm very overweight, but it turned out it really was my baby all along! Amazing to see the movements on screen match all the sensations I was getting. Baby also gave me a hard double footed kick straight to the cervix during the scan. Charming child....
