Well I feel like death today, DS has his final teeth breaking through and so it's 2nd night in a row where he just won't settle and doesn't want to sleep alone. I managed 2.5 hours broken sleep, feel like a zombie! I guess it's practice for when this baby arrives.... eeek

Astret · 11/05/2019 10:38

Me too @twittle ! Though in my case it’s due to having caught a rotten cold. Yuk my sinuses hurt so much Sad

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 11:17

@TheCraicDealer we got the cameleon - I did want the fox tho but as MIL was kindly offering to buy felt cheeky asking for the next one up!! If they're the same size I'll certainly measure for you? I ordered some Moses basket sheets and they just about fit, they are really snug though so I may have to snip the elastic... will try again after I've washed them. There's deffo someone else on here with a fox, I had pram envy at the time 😉

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 11:19

And yes, time is definitely marching on now, I remember moaning about how slow the first 12 or so weeks were and now whoa... 12 weeks and I'll be finishing work!!

boodles101 · 11/05/2019 11:21

New car day for me. Makes things seem so real now!
Also picking up a 2nd hand next to me this afternoon.
Ive spent the last 2 nights with DS in his room and last night he finally slept through after over a month of wake ups! I of course still didn't sleep that great but it's a big relief that he's finally getting better. Just hope it wasn't a fluke!

TheCraicDealer · 11/05/2019 11:28

Thanks for the heads up DustyDoorframes- actually hoping I don't win this one now to be on the safe side!

kyles101 that was so generous of your MIL! We were thinking about the chameleon as well, has a lot of fans on here. Thanks for the offer, I think they might actually be the same size- they fit the same hoods anyway? But I've just realised I can msg the nursery store who I'm paying a small fortune for same pram and get them to get their measuring tape out Grin I'll need to get waterproof sheets as well and don't want to spend £££ on stuff that might not fit.

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/05/2019 11:35

Thanks for the kind words all Flowers

Sorry so many are sleeping poorly. I am not sleeping too bad but am still tired all the time. Think getting my iron levels checked might be a good idea but a bit concerned my gp will think me a hypochondriac as i seem to be in there every five mins at the moment! She is not a sympathetic woman either.

Still no pram decision made ....

Megan2018 · 11/05/2019 11:37

I was so short of breath walking up the hill in the horse field this morning! I know I have dropped fitness but bloody hell! Just can’t get any air in.
So bored. Loads to buy still but need to wait until payday. Away with friends next weekend though so that’ll pass some time then its my MW apt and then nearly time for growth scan. After that time will fly!

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 11:42

@TheCraicDealer it would have been to I had pram envy of! Honestly, baby brain!! If they're the same size then I just got some waterproof Moses basket sheets and they fit fine, it was the ordinary sheets that are a little on the snug side. And yes, we are very lucky with MIL, she's a good egg!!

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 11:42
  • you!
TwittleBee · 11/05/2019 12:37

Get well soon Astret ! It's crap because all you can take is bloomin paracetamol.

TheCraicDealer · 11/05/2019 12:51

I've heard back from the nursery store- they've give me the measurements but apparently with the ventilation design in the Bugaboos they recommend not to use sheets as the cover on the mattress acts as a fitted sheet.

I mean that's all very well and good but what about pooplosions?! Is this why I keep seeing sponsored adds for replacement Fox mattresses? Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/05/2019 13:00

My last pram with carrycot (cosatto giggle 2) the mattress had a removable cover, you could buy these separately from cosatto so i just had a spare. I have never used waterproof sheets in a pram tbh.

Megan2018 · 11/05/2019 13:01

@TheCraicDealer
Unless you are using it for overnight sleeps I’d definitely use a protector and sheets. You could end up chewing through mattresses otherwise!

TheCraicDealer · 11/05/2019 14:04

Oh I will be! The bassinet isn't recommended for overnight sleeping and she'll be in a moba moses for daytime naps, so the only time she'll be in it will be when we're out and about.

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 16:39

Hmmm just looked at ours and the cover does actually come off so it is washable so you could was if necessary I suppose - but I don't see why that would be ok as a cover but not a mattress protector? Although I don't suppose they are very breathable...?

To be fair, if you know anyone with any sewing skills replacement covers would be really easy to run up, it's a bit like a pillow case in design.

Ours like yours won't be using it for naps, so will always be fully supervised...

Karigan195 · 11/05/2019 16:46

Got our car seat today. Had to take the car and try about 5 before we found one that fits as I have an unusual vehicle. But we finally found one! :)

Megan2018 · 11/05/2019 17:55

What did you go for in the end @Karigan195?

We are looking end of month, but likely to change my car before the end of the year so trying to get something that fits a lot of cars!

Whisky2014 · 11/05/2019 18:31

I got a letter from a health visitor saying they will be on contact around 33 to 34 weeks and in this letter was a booklet about all the visits they will do until the child is 5.

I honestly cannot be arsed with stuff like this. Ita portrayed as if it's mandatory but I'm pretty sure it's not. Does anyone know?
If I'm having problems I'll obviously reach out for help, but if not, I just want to be left to it :s

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/05/2019 18:39

Whisky it isnt mandatory no. Obviously health checks on a newborn are important but i am actually going to phone on monday and tell them i do not want dc4s 2 year check up. I havent time to go to it. He is fine. He attends nursery, he meets all his milestones and if i need help i know how to access it.
I also refused a midwife who turned up at my house when i was 37/38 weeks pregnant with him. She stated she had come to talk to me about feeding and safe sleep. It was my fourth baby.

Nothing came from me refusing that visit. I actually spoke to the mw who visited me after the birth about it and she agreed it was bizarre to send someone to do that visit for dc4. If they had sent someone when i was having dc4 at 19 then i would have been grateful but nope!

TwittleBee · 11/05/2019 19:00

Wish the HVs were more attentive here Whisky ! Always felt left in the dark by them which is only a concern really because DS still doesn't talk. My niece and nephew haven't had any HV checks since newborn so pretty sure they aren't mandatory if the HVs aren't bothering to get in touch with them (and I've always had to chase them)

Stroan · 11/05/2019 20:10

@whisky2014 I'm amazed your HV have the time, ours are so stretched. It's not a bad thing to have checks (I liked a bit of confirmation that I wasn't making a total mess of parenting sometimes and my HV was instrumental in getting reflux diagnosed) But you don't need a visit to explain all the future visits!

Stroan · 11/05/2019 20:12

Oops, I think I misread! I thought they were coming out to explain the booklet. Anyway, still a waste of time until you actually have a baby for them to check...
