I've changed midwife service, here in North Essex we have this thing called the One to One midwife service which runs alongside the NHS service (It's still free too). So I'll be getting a birth debrief with this service @BBell2 as they offer a lot more support. I'm even getting a 24 week appointment despite this being my 2nd.

DustyDoorframes · 10/05/2019 19:53

Decaf I do have a pushchair to shove up the hill, the occupant is actually about ready to give up the pushchair, except that getting up a hill on time at her sleepiest time of day is a bit hopeless. DP and I split it (whoever goes to work does drop off on their way out, and the other one does pickup) so i only have pushchair shoving on three afternoons, but I think I'm going to try and do some swaps with neighbours and get it down a bit too. Can you negotiate anything with any other parents? It's basically the worst thing we can do to our pelvises, when they are a bit unstable- but we can hardly just not take kids to school!
Huh, I've been having the odd bout of palpitations too, hadn't thought anything of it. Hmm.

DustyDoorframes · 10/05/2019 19:59

Dyra yay scan (except for the artery bit...)! What a wriggler, you are going to have your hands full when they make their appearance!
Twittle one to one are brilliant! I have similar (for all three now) and I reckon without them I'd have had a much trickier time- and longer in hospital, more costly interventions etc with both births. It's a much better way to do midwifery I think!!

TwittleBee · 10/05/2019 20:06

Dusty they're great aren't they! Wish I knew about them with my first! Love how they'll come and assess you at home and they tell you when to head to hospital. Crazy how they're on call 24/7 too

DustyDoorframes · 10/05/2019 20:19

Twittle if it wasn't for the home assessment DC2 would have been born on the pavement trying to get to hospital, and with DC1 I was an inpatient for preeclampsia and they came in like the cavalry when it was decided I needed to be induced. It's just such a brilliant system!

BBell2 · 10/05/2019 20:25

@twittlebee that sounds loads better, I'm pleased for you! The time between ME appts with a second feels so wrong...new MW at 16 wks and probably another new by 28 to start measurement- bizarre

TwittleBee · 10/05/2019 20:29

It so needs to be rolled out Dusty and really feel even better about swapping now you've shared your experience with them!

BBell I agree! That's like 3 months of no contact. No chance to spot growth issues or ensure everything okay. I guess we are just assumed to know what to look out for and we can always call them (expect they never bloody call back...)

Karigan195 · 10/05/2019 20:35

Evening ladies. Apparently I have a vbac appt Tuesday. Anyone know what that is about please?

Stroan · 10/05/2019 21:13

@karigan195 have you expressed a preference for a VBAC?

@twittlebee and @dustydoorframes that one to one service sounds completely amazing. Given the dramas I've had getting my doctor's and hospital to speak to each other to confirm a prescription, I'd love a service where I just felt that one single person was on my side.

pinkflowers82 · 10/05/2019 21:27

I have also been having heart palpitations. I was all ready to head to A and E as I didn't know what it was. It feels like my heart keeps fluttering.

challengeyourreality · 10/05/2019 21:30

I've been having heart palpitations too @pinkflowers82

challengeyourreality · 10/05/2019 21:32

I've been having heart palpitations too @pinkflowers82 Not many times but was getting worried as I haven't had them before. Mainly when I'm lying down

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/05/2019 23:00

challenge mine have been mainly when lying or leaning back on the sofa. Glad i asked on here now and see other people have it too! I havent had it in any other pregnancy which seems odd!

The 1 to 1 mw thing seems great. I last saw a mw at 16 weeks, 20 week app was just scan, dont see mw now until 28! Madness!

Im looking at going on maternity in about 6 weeks, feel like a wuss! But just seem to have constant list of aches pain and problems. Dp keeps pulling faces when i say something is wrong / hurts etc so now i dont even feel i can complain!

MyHomey · 10/05/2019 23:50

I had a bit of a funny turn today, took the dog for a walk and perhaps went a little further than I should? Started feeling dizzy. sick and faint.. it was a bit worrying and I was on my own. I just slowly made my way home and had to sit down a few times on the grass on my way back. Felt unwell all evening, but the baby's been moving, so I think he/she is ok.
Perhaps just low blood sugar or something?

It's made me feel a bit sad but I don't know why!

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/05/2019 06:36

Hormones probably making you feel sad! I nearly cried at my 9 year olds class assembly which was about mountains .... hope your feeling better now myhomey

I have just nearly been sick! After about two weeks of no sick. Sat here scared to move incase i chuck.

23+2

happydays00 · 11/05/2019 07:54

Another having heart palpitations! I had put it down to the stress of moving house / contract concerns but feel better to know it's probably a pregnancy thing!

Also haven't seen my midwife since 16 weeks and am 24 weeks today. Just another 4 to go.. it seems ludicrous. Can anyone remember how often you see a midwife after the 28 week appointment if this is second baby?

@IVEgottheDECAF I've also had a few random bouts of "near puking" this week. Sucking a polo as I type to try and stop my self from running to the toilet to throw up my breakfast!

happydays00 · 11/05/2019 07:54

23 weeks today.. not 24 weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️

IVEgottheDECAF · 11/05/2019 07:58

According to nhs website

28 weeks then 34, 36, 38, 40, 41, 42

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 08:29

@MyHomey I had that a couple of weeks back walking the dogs, it was quite a warm evening too. I just take it slower and steadier now.

@IVEgottheDECAF the mountains assembly cracked me up!!

23 weeks today - 1 week til the magic 24

kyles101 · 11/05/2019 08:36

Oh and ivegot you are most definitely not a wimp!! I hardly think you'll be lounging around on your mat leave and I don't blame you one bit - it's going to be hot and you've a lot on anyway. Depending on how my cover gets on I'm going anytime from beginning of August. Phah to dh, moan anyway and then you've always got here as a back up complaining space!

Tefiti2 · 11/05/2019 08:54

@Dyra oh I bet it is lovely and cool down there!! I work in an acute medical ward.... luckily I have really supportive colleagues but it is still absolutely knackering! I’m aiming to finish sometime in July, temperature and size of bump dependant Hmm

Sorry to hear some of you are still being sick - you are absolute superheroes in my eyes!!

DustyDoorframes · 11/05/2019 09:22

decaf that sounds entirely reasonable!!! And your DP needs to pull his finger out. Your pelvis is trying to pull itself apart!! He needs to pick up a LOT of slack!!!

TheCraicDealer · 11/05/2019 09:29

@kyles101 is it you who got the Fox and are pushing it about your living room? Grin if so (CF alert!) can I pleeeeeease ask you to measure the width and length of the bassinet mattress...? I think it's bigger than your average bassinet but can't find the measurements anywhere online. I want to order some pretty sheets Blush

Am anxious but can't wait for my 20w scan on Tuesday- I'll be 20w+6d. All of my appointments have felt really late. I've hit up eBay for some stuff, much to DH's delight. Have a few bids on at the moment for a ergobaby carrier and pregnancy pillow.

Anyone else feeling like time's going in way faster now? There was this long wait for anything to happen at the start, now it's halfway through and it feels like someone's pressed the fast forward button!

DustyDoorframes · 11/05/2019 09:48

@TheCraicDealer watch out for fake ergos on eBay- the ergo website has a good guide re what to look out for. Or had anyway. A few years ago it was really hard to buy ergos second hand because of all the fakes- hard to spot but much worse quality. I'm not sure now as I've not bought any slings for a few years!
There's a good second hand slings group on Facebook- "affordable slings for sale or swap" I think.

Karigan195 · 11/05/2019 10:07

@MyHomey I’ve had this quite a bit as I’m stubbornly continuing to go in the mountains at the moment. It’s the oxygen deficiency. Baby’s stealing some, progesterone makes you feel like you need more and you have no lung space for deep breaths. You did the right thing to sit down and rest until you felt more normal. That’s all I’ve been doing and taking things slowly. I’m still scrambling but it takes forever with a ton of rests 😂
