Mrs Jetson - meant to give you loads of sympathy on my earlier post - sorry - you drama queen you It does sound seriously awful though;especially when you have other LOs to run after. I hope the massages are helping (perhaps get DH to give you one (a massage!) in between appointments?)

Easywriter - I never knew about the diet thing before GTT! Thanks - I've made a mental note to eat loads of protein from now until monday

on that note - I'd best get my fish out of the fridge & get some dinner on!

Easywriter · 16/08/2007 20:09

Um! I don't think I explained it well enough, that info (the bit about making your last meal before the fast was just for sparkly as she has her test tomorrow.

If you have longer than that until your test, avoid eating refined sugar as much as you can, keep carbs to a minimum, when you eat carbs always eat some protein (the way the two act upon your system helps to stabilise blood sugar). Your ideal meals for 3 days before the test should include lots of protein and green vegetables. You should have some carbs but make sure they're things like jacket potato, brown rice or brown bread.

Just for the record blood sugar has a very poor response to white rice so avoid it like the plague.

Bolied eggs, cubed ham, etc are good for protein that's portable (should you need it). Beware of bought (rather than boiled by your own fair hand) ham as it often contains sugar.

Hope that makes a bit more sense.

When you get to the last meal before your fast make it protein with no refined sugar.

iris66 · 16/08/2007 20:49

That does make lots of sense Easywriter - thanks .
I had diet controlled GD last pg (I only didn't have to inject by the skin of my teeth) so was on a low GI/GL diet for over 1/2 my pg (tested early as my dad was diabetic). I had an early test this time too but it came back ok. I'm ashamed to admit my diet has been pretty high carb so far so I really do need to get my act together over the next few days at the very least!

Pixiefish · 16/08/2007 21:02

Iris- congrats to your dd xx

iris66 · 16/08/2007 21:08

Pixiefish · 16/08/2007 21:11

I started packing my bag tonight, but realised I have no big pants for the bag, so must get that sorted. Don't know how many babygros and vests to pack or what size, have put newborn in but left a pile of tiny baby ones out in the baby's room (just in case) so that DH can bring them if needed.

I haven't had a bag before, DS came at 35 weeks and I so wasn't ready. DD1 came at 31 weeks and I was completely unprepared. And with DD2 I went into labour while at Great ormond street hospital with DS, so rushed back and was taken straight to hospital at 33 weeks.

I still don't think I have everything I need for my bag..

Pixiefish · 16/08/2007 21:31

Sgk.

knickers
mat pads
nighties
book
bits for labour- snack bars etc- tbh i don't think I even unpacked my labour bag apart for to get nightie out
money
camera
nappies
wash bag
towels

just thinking out loud
we can add to it as we go and rememebr that dh can bring stuff back in to you

Pixiefish · 16/08/2007 21:32

as for babygrows- baby will be in hosp gown for first few hours won't he? Then dh can bring clothes in for him

MrsJetson · 16/08/2007 21:37

Thank you for the messages!! Although just reread my message - should be 'behind my THIGH not THING'!!!!

Sparkly - good luck for tomorrow, and oh my God I can't believe you have your bag packed! It really is getting closer - especially with your previous history.

Easy - we haven't got anything like that over here unfortunately - by the time they ship anything out it would arrive after teh DD!!

Little - thank you - I would appreciate the link!

Iris - thank you! Am I really a drama queen? DH is really good but he has never been bloody pregnant - whereas you girls have!

Oh bugger well here goes anyway - another few niggles I need to get off my chest - which is now 2 sizes bigger than it was!

There will be too much information but I have to be honest!

So number 1 problem - I am absolutely panicking that this one is going to arrive before I fly back. I guess that 4 babies in under 5 years will bring trauma of sorts to my body but I sort of feel that 'it will all fall out'. It is all very very obvious - even looking in a mirror that bits aren't where they should be. Obviously my muscles - or lack of them - are not going to be able to help much keeping everything in - but I am really quite worried - if this makes sense - without the really gorey details!

number 2 - I ahve had 3 normal pg's - DS1 6 days late, DS2 4 days early DD 10 days late (after a close false alarm at 35 weeks). Anyone wanting to hazard a guess that DD2 will be early? I fly at 33+3 - so I should be OK - but having a prem baby here?? I'd really rather not. Survival rates are not great at the best of times...

number 3 - how the hell do I get rid of 4 years worth of 2 boys clothes without getting emotionally attached and 'keeping it just in case'. Just in case what? They suddenly turn back time and become babies again??

number 4 - anyone think I'm slightly losing the plot?

Pixiefish · 16/08/2007 21:39

how many weeks will you be flying back Mrs J?

Pixiefish · 16/08/2007 21:41

as for the clothes- keep them for a bit or do you HAVE to get rid of them. There might be a reason in future- a good friend might need them or you might need them...

aikigypsy · 16/08/2007 21:47

Good evening everyone!

I read through messages last night but was too tired to type, I think. This morning I had my GTT, and yesterday ate quite a bit of sugar, so we'll see. I also wanted to eat sugar all this afternoon, and nap, even though I'd napped in between blood draws at the GTT (seriously needed the sleep). I'm exhausted. I don't think that the GTT helped, but it's probably mostly the moving, which is nowhere near done. I don't know where to start on unpacking, since I'm not sure how long I'll be here, when my boyfriend is coming over to stay, what I'll be doing for work in the tiny interval before the baby arrives, etc. I also had to reschedule my flight to Ireland because of the "action" (like a strike, only not?) by the aerlingus pilots, starting the day I was supposed to leave.

However, in the midst of all that brain-addling stuff I've still found some time to obsess about baby poo and how I'm going to deal with it. I decided to go with cloth early on, but then got lost in all the different kinds. Right now I'm leaning towards the squares ("prefolds" as they call them here) rather than shaped, because aparently they last longer in terms of sizing and are generally more versatile, not to mention less expensive. I'm also thinking about EC, but not going to be too ambitious about it at first.

Off to look at boxes some more. those of you packing your hospital bags.

Pixie - I'll be just over 33 weeks

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 22:26

I thought I better start doing my bag, because of my history, its only 3 weeks till the time I had DD1. I am hopeful that I will carry further this time, but given my history I need to be prepared really.

AnnainNZ · 17/08/2007 00:19

Easywriter, I went ot Leeds Uni too - I see from your profile you're 38, I'm 36 so you would have been a year or two ahead of me. I too had a very good time, far too good a time really , got a 2:2 after 3 years of nights out! I too found it hard to leave Leeds, in fact I stayed four years after I graduated!

Easywriter · 17/08/2007 00:57

Heh, heh! Such a familiar tale.

The only year of exams I passed first time were my finals!! (Ad only then because I knew I had to!)I was ents sec in 92 (she says blowing her cover) and that's my excuse. Music was everything and school... an annoyance!

You wouldn't recognize me now though even if you have any idea what I looked like then.
said it before and I'll say it again, great city!!

AnnainNZ · 17/08/2007 07:39

Ooh, Ents sec in 92...I was a steward, used to work at the gigs so I could get into all the other gigs free (mainly the raves, I was entering my big dance music phase). I remember a guy called Kel who was Ents sec one year, were you before or after him? I went to see so many bands at uni, I remember deciding which unis to apply to by going through the NME and seeing which cities had the most gigs on! Aaaah, getting all nostalgic...the Duchess of York...free gigs at the Uni with my Ents pass...getting squished in the moshpit...to the point where I virtually couldn't breathe...happy days!

littleoldme · 17/08/2007 07:43

Mrs J here's the link I was telling you about. It's a PDF of the info I was given at the hosp yesterday. the physio said that all pelvic/lower back pain in pg gererally has the same cause although the symptoms may be slightly diff. She also said to do pelvic floor, pelvic tilts and abdominal exercises 4-6times daily with 10 repetitions.link

She also said , and I found this astonishing, that if you labour standing, squatting or on all fours everything opens up by an extra 28% compared to lying on your back.

I also now have a rather fetching support belt which Dh says are like kinky little shorts. They aren't. Also got a huge tubi grip so I feel thoroughly trussed.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.
