I have brought washable breastpads this time, I used to hate the feel of those other sort when they were wet.. Still haven't packed my hospital bag, even though I am only 3 weeks from when I had DD1, I am hopeful this time..

MrsJetson · 16/08/2007 14:34

Choudru - re potty training DS1 was nearly 3, DS2 was 2 and 9 months and DD was 19 months (bit of a shock). I would personally wait - you have no idea how DS is going to react to the new baby. He might be sorted with potty training and then go straight back to square one later after the birth. It won't do any harm for you to wait. It might be more of an incentive to him too by being the big boy 'not in nappies'. Worth a try....

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 14:40

omg!! I have to go and have my GTT tomorrow and the steriod injections too Have to go on my own, because Misdee needs us to watch her girls so she can go to the hospital, so DH is doing that. I hate the steriod injections, they hurt so much

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 15:00

My dad is taking me, he is picking me up because driving when you can't eat is horrid..

sarahloumadam · 16/08/2007 15:19

BTW RGpargy - any more movements yet? Did your sugar rush get her moving?

iris66 · 16/08/2007 16:35

Thanks for all your congrats about DD everyone

Sparkly - fingers crossed for your GTT (mine's next week & I'm really not helping myself - just truffed a huge slice of lemoon cake) and hope your steroid injection goes ok (apologies if I've said so before but Arnica's good for bruising and Aconite if you are fearful )

RGPargy - why are you hiring? Have a look at Birth Pool In A Box - you can buy one for less than £100!!! (and flog it afterwards - so more money for baby stuff )

Another vote for washable breastpads here. I used breast shells too when I was exploding early on, and then I discovered Lilypadz which I used if we were out & I wanted to wear something more clingy as they don't show at all.

Choudru - good tip about Tesco's - thanks off to find out more......

Hi everyone,
So much has happened, I don't know, you finally flake out and fall aslepp and...

First of all Iris - Well done to your daughter!! A levels are SO stressful. (it's one of the life experiences I really wish I could do for my children so that they won't have to) Good for her on choosing such a fine city to study in. I was at Leeds Uni and to be blunt I daren't live there again as it was such a hard thing to do to leave it! Shops are fan-tastic too!!

SGK - I'm so glad that everythings going well with you BIL. Sorry to hear you're alone for your GTT tomorrow. Don't fall asleep during the test, do lots of exercise today over and above what is normal for you and most importantly eat lots of protein but NO refined sugar in your last snack/meal before your fast. (just thought I'd share the results of my research with you). Good luck with it all. If your GTT is the same as mine ie blood test, drink glucose, wait two hours then blood test, then according to my MW you shouldn't be hassled by medical personnel too much as they don't give you the results there and then.

Reuseable nappies - Please work on me for the next three months. I'm 'almost' keen. I began with cloth nappies (not terries, the ones you fold differently for boys and girls,) but the first time I put them on (when the girls were about 6 days old) the girls bums started turning red with nappy rash within about 4 hours! I didn't need nappy rash as well as two new babies to worry about so I never got any further than that. I'm up for it though. When you say that local councils do trial ones, who do you get in touch with? Do you go via your MW? If I could try some it might swing it. Maybe I should take myself up on my offer and contact the nappy lady .

iris66 · 16/08/2007 16:43

Easywriter - this is a good nappy site
and I used the Nappy Lady to decide what I needed. Their advice waqs brilliant. HTH

iris66 · 16/08/2007 16:46

Choudru - think we'll be hitting the potty training at the same time then I'm going to try DS a bit earlier, at 2.5, so I can do it in the summer(just hope he'll be ready!!)

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 16:52

I actually have no signs of diabetics, but because my mum and misdee have type 2, I have to tested I had to have it done when pregnant with DD2 because there was 3+++ of sugar in my wee, but I had just eaten when they did the urine test, so no wonder eh??

My dad is coming with me tomorrow now, because I can't do those injections by myself, I just can't! They hurt and I don't have much flesh on me anyway, so need someone to hold my hand. If anyone come near me with those steriods injections and says they want to do it into my stomach I will hit them, my poor stomach is covered in bruises from the Clexane injections as it is!!

RGPargy · 16/08/2007 16:55

Sparkly - good luck with your GTT! I am having one of those at 28 weeks and i'm a bit nervous about it, i have to say! I eat so much sugar and rubbish

Sarah - yes, lots of movements now She's been a right fidget-bum over the last couple of days now. It's lovely. Oh, except when DP puts his hands on my bump - that's when she goes to sleep lol.

Iris - I'm hiring because i want one with a heater. Our hot water pressure is absolutely ridiculous. It takes ages to even fill the sink to wash up!! Filling up the pool from the hot tap would probably take about 2 days!!

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 16:57

Ds2's movements has changed, it used to be loads of kicks, now its stretches and punches.. He is head down though!

RGPargy · 16/08/2007 16:59

Hope that doesn't mean he's coming out too soon Sparkly!!

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 17:02

I hope so too, he has been head down since 24 weeks, IME when they go head down I normally give birth within a week, so am not worried as he has been head down for 4 weeks now. I think all the drugs are helping this time, but I have noticed a difference in his movements, I just think he running out of space.

RGPargy · 16/08/2007 17:06

Well in that case he must just prefer to be that way up then and his change in movements could be due to him growing INSIDE rather than outside?!

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 17:12

He is very lively in the evenings I hope this is not a sign of his waking times!!

RGPargy · 16/08/2007 17:14

I dont get woken at all by LO moving around at night. In fact, she hardly ever kicks around after 11pm. I'm keeping everything crossed that this will be her final feed time til the morning. Yeah right. Dream on, RG!!

sparklygothkat · 16/08/2007 17:18

actualy have to say he is very llively today, must know that its all happening here!!
Must get my grant form signed tomorrow so I can get the last of the baby stuff that I need..

RGPargy · 16/08/2007 17:20

Liveliness = good.

MrsJetson · 16/08/2007 17:41

Does nobody care that I have a really painful back and I have to have an Anti D??? I need sympathy!!!!!!!!!

I feel like the new girl!

Easywriter · 16/08/2007 18:05

I shouldn't worry about putting off potty training. I think you can only do it too soon rather than too late.

It's quite hard work for the first few days and you will need to spend a lot of time with your child in those first few days so really it'll be an ideal way to boost his confidence after you've settled into having a new family member.

Easywriter · 16/08/2007 18:05

Ah sorry Mrs J. (that was something I was mid way through typing before I had to watch Neighbours. Post to you to follow.

Easywriter · 16/08/2007 18:08

Anti-D sounds like no fun at all but the bad back... whew!

Have you got one of those support blt thingies or is it all too recent to have invested in one?
