Skibump - glad you had a good time, I fly tomorrow mornign and cant wait!!!

Molly6- Welcome!! xx

Naetha good luck with MW appt today xx

Awen- Im just back from my 16 week scan and they didnt listen to heartbeat x

Goingfor3 - silly question, but whats fundal height??

Hi everyone else..hope you all had a good weekend.

Well I am just back from my 16 week appt. WHich really was just to get results for nuchal fold etc.....Glad to hear that im free of HIV,Hepat, syphilis, and chlamydia hahaha and also my downs risk is 1:3066, so pleased with that too. I asked if she would listen to the heart beat and she said thats after next scan, which is 25 weeks!!! Although im sure ill get to hear and see it at the scan...im not having that until 23 weeks ...so have another 7 weeks to wait!!!! Seems so far off!
I also asked about a home birth, and she said as long as there are no problems during the pregnancy, there is no reason why not...So will speak to the midwife when i see her next. Still undecided....
Well packing today, as I fly to LAke Garda tomorrow ..Cant wait.....xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 10:31

aww beller, I thought they tended to listen for it now if you asked. Will try and see if midwife will tomorrow but tbh the original mw i saw at booking in was crappy. They ended up with 2 booking in, 2nd mw was nice tho. My mum is coming as she really wants to hear heartbeat. Will probably start crying if she says no Is anyone else crying so easily? I cried looking at birthday cards yesterday, Had soppy one from dp (who is away in Japan They had a bad tropical storm/typhoon at the weekend and an earthquake today), Really sweet one from ds and my mum and dad sent me a specail daughter one. I cry so easily atm.

Fundal height is how high the top of the uterus is. IS a guage of how baby growing. They use it sometimes to date.. with ds had higher fundal height for gestations & was classed as large for dates (ds was a biggie).

ladylush · 16/07/2007 10:44

is it your bday awen? If so, many happy returns

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 10:45

thank you It was yesterday. Am now 32! How are you doing ladylush (like the name change btw) xx

ladylush · 16/07/2007 10:53

Happy bday for yesterday Not surprised you were tearful with dp working abroad. Maybe the two of you can have a lovely night out when he gets back. I am ok. A colleague rang me yesterday to say he missed me which was sweet. It seems not many people know (he didn't)which is surprising where I work. Got this week off, then back to work next monday.

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 10:57

IS sweet that he called. Usually news spreads quickly on the ward but tbh is nice that everyone hasnt talked about it all. Have you planned to do something nice for yourself this week? I have been hovering around the July thread to see how you are

ladylush · 16/07/2007 11:02

Have a few things to sort out today and a pile of ironing. Was thinking about going for reflexology. Has anyone ever had it done? Always fancied it, but never got around to arranging it.

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 11:11

never had it have had a lovely massage before.

MrsMcJnr · 16/07/2007 12:05

Morning ladies

Hi Skibump ? hope you are doing ok hon. I am so sorry The MC threads are lovely, got me through when I thought I didn?t want to. Take care of yourself. Glad you had a lovely holiday

Poor you Nicky6 ? hope the toothache gets better. I?ve been panicking for the last couple of weeks thinking that my dentist had closed down but they were just closed for 2 weeks. I am an NHS patient and don?t think I?d get that status anywhere else these days!

Hello Molly65 ? welcome and congratulations! I?m a worrier too so you are in good company plus we share an EDD so glad your results were good. I?m expecting mine tomorrow.

Hey Lilyloo ? lovely to have hols to look forward too we are booking today to go back to Spain at the end of September for a sunshine fix. Plus to see my folks as we won?t by flying over again after that.

Naetha ? weekend went far too fast! Hope your test goes ok at the MW. I think it?s always worth listening to your body and it does sound like you might be anaemic. Hope you are still recovering well That must have been weird with the goop!

Hey Awen ? mine is still falling out too, but just like it normally does. Your poor DS sounds so sweet Happy belated birthday hon! sorry DH is away. I?m constantly crying at the mo ? over anything!

Gingeme ? you sound like a very lucky lady £20 in the trousers and now this ? make sure you get a lottery ticket!

Hello Goingfor3 ? what?s happened to you then? Why the pre-op blood tests and casting? Hope you are ok exciting about your bump!

Morning Beller hope you have a fabulous time! that Down?s ratio sounds nice and high you must be delighted. I know what you mean about the HB, I know I?ve seen it twice but I want to hear it that said, I had an MRI on mine a few years ago as I have suspected rheumatic fever and when you hear the rate at which it beats you wonder how it can be sustainable relax, relax, relax

Hello Ladylush that was nice of your colleague. I had reflexology once as an aid to TTC, didn?t think it did anything really, that said, I had a reiki session too and that certainly did something ? it was so odd and I felt so much better after it (conceived the cycle after that too).

ladylush · 16/07/2007 12:14

Hello Interesting about the reiki - might give it a go.

MotherofZ · 16/07/2007 12:25

Afternoon all - gosh this thread certainly moves so fast!

Has anyone else out there been having wierd dreams about newborn?

Had a wierd dream last night (when I finally did get to sleep with this blasted nasal congestion), that after I had the baby and was in hospital they gave me a cot with no sides on it to put the baby. Weird, hey???

goingfor3 · 16/07/2007 12:31

Hi MrsMcJnr, the pre op bloods are for thursday as I'm having a cervical suture, fingers crossed it all goes well though I'm seeing it as a mini break to have some time to myself. DD has a casting for a new clothing range at Next not a plaster cast or anything like that!

MrsMcJnr · 16/07/2007 14:34

Ladylush ? I thought it was worthwhile (and so relaxing).

MotherofZ ? I had a dream the other night that Beanie was a girl with huge bushy eyebrows

Goingfor3 ? of course sorry, I forgot you were having that done. Hope it all goes well hon PMSL out loud at the casting bit ? what a numpty I am, you?ll have to send us a link to see her if she gets in ? fingers crossed once again!

ladylush · 16/07/2007 14:42

bushy eyebrows are all the rage so if it's true at least your lo will be bang on trend

MrsMcJnr · 16/07/2007 15:08

I?ve just had the results of the Nuchal scan and I am over the moon we are low risk for Down?s ? 1:7851 and the risk of Edwards or Patels (sp!) is 1:20,000 ? such a lovely relief.

gingeme · 16/07/2007 15:50

Afternoon all. Finaly got onto the pc after my bigger boys have taken over.
Awen my little boy is 3 and I cant wait for him to have his tonsils out. He often wakes with blood stains on his sheets and is always dribbling and occasionaly has realy smelly breath.
I had a rough night. Was very sick and finaly got to sleep about 3am. Im shattered today.
Never mind I will keep doing these silly things like getting pregnant eh?

Molly65 · 16/07/2007 17:41

Hello!

Your results are brilliant MrsMcJnr. Mine put me down to the risk for a 29 year old which was good for me.

I have reflexology and it helps a lot with relaxation. Mine talks about draining the lymph glands and seems to have a special file on pregnancy. All the patients she has treated who were trying to conceive have succeeded. She's certainly got something. Plus she's a really nice person so that's probably at least half of it.

Has anyone else got a puppy which they want to prepare for the advent of a new member in the family? Mine is 5 months and bounding with energy. My daily exercise is walking him round the fields. It was just after getting him that I became pregnant as well. He's called Merlin and a chocolate lab. (Quite naughty and especially so when excited.)

All the best

barristermum · 16/07/2007 18:48

Molly - you are so lucky I am so jealous !! I had secured dh's agreement to getting a dog, hitherto withheld as work lifestyles seemed to prohibit, but then I found a doggy daycare place in our area, and although v expensive, as we had no other ties we cd afford. Then to my surprise I fell pregnant (we were beginning to lose hope) and agreement is withdrawn as new set of financial circs apply - gutted! We have to make do with a share of my parent's bee-ay-oot-iful English setter, who is fab but not there every evening when I come home after all!

There are supposed to be some v good books about introducing your dog to a new baby to avoid any jealousy etc.

goingfor3 · 16/07/2007 20:15

Lol MrsMcJnr! Well she got the job for the first time ever we heard back within 30 minutes so I'll sned you a link when it comes out. Your results are absolutley fantastic!

I had a call when I got home from the midwife saying that I had missed my pre op assesment on thursday. I didn't even know I was having one, I wasn't given an appoitment. I must remeber to call her in the morning to hopefully sort it all out, hopefully they won't cancel.

LilyLoo · 16/07/2007 20:19

Molly Merlin sounds lovely this may help dogs.about.com/cs/childrenanddogs/a/aa112002a.htm
Our dog was fine although was about 2 when i had ds. We were really worried but took her to dog training classes and she has been brill with both dc's they drag her about everywhere and she loves them.
How everyone else ? Finally a day where i haven't felt like crying, cannot cope with my emotions all over the place as am usually very calm.

skibump · 16/07/2007 21:38

Thx MrsMcJ, Ladylush, nice name change, I'll look out for you. Glad to hear everyone's scans and nuchal folds are going well

Re reflexology, I had a weekly session during my 1st pg, and I had a great pg, a pretty easy birth and a really relaxed baby - but who knows if there's a link?? Whatever, I found it a great way to relax and feel pampered.

Awen, your ds sounds lovely - and he's lucky to have you too

Naetha · 16/07/2007 22:12

Evening all

Goingfor3 - congratulations for your daughter - a model already! As for the pre-op assessment, its usually an appointment where they take your blood, blood pressure etc to do your general anaesthetic assessments. Its usually much faster if you've had a GA before, but even then it shouldn't take too long

After our 3 cats, a dog was next on the list for us before I got pregnant! I must admit that recently I'm not regretting not going for a dog as the weather has been appalling! Driving past all the dog-walkers I can't help but feel smug thinking of my three furry hot-water-bottles (or cats to you and me!).

My MW appointment was great this morning - got to listen to the heartbeat which was very strong and found immediately. I also got my first definite flutter today - it felt like someone had run their fingers across my tummy...but on the inside! Felt great I probably won't be saying that in 4 months time though! I get my triple test results back in 2 weeks and hopefully everything will be fine. I asked her about iron levels, and although they were within the normal range, they were on the low side, so I'm gonna make sure I get enough iron to keep me and bean going. Hopefully it'll be enough to make these damned palpitations go away!

ladylush · 16/07/2007 22:29

Thanks for the comments on reflexology ladies. I really want to try it as it's something I've always fancied. Molly where do you live? Your reflexologist sounds fab. Gingeme - well done on your money luck over the past week Sorry to hear about your ds tonsils problems
Goingfor3 - well done your dd. Excellent news

Housemum · 17/07/2007 09:49

Goingfor3 - congrats on the Next job! Next was DD2's first ever job - except they never used the pics (sniff!). I am exhausted today after she had 3 afternoons for the M&S website - only one or two outfits each day - why couldn't they have done them all at once?? Awful journey up yesterday too - trains had been cancelled on the Waterloo line so the one we caught was packed - sticking the belly out as far as poss and fanning myself with a timetable still didn't get me the offer of a seat.

Beller - surprised they didn't listen for heartbeat? Just shows that despite being a "National" health service what you get definitely depends on where you live.

Anyone else watched the "Make Me A Baby" series on BBC? Where they follow 100 couples as they TTC? One couple were having to go through IVF as he had problems due to twisted testicles as a child - the voiceover mentioned the costs of the treatment - that sort of thing makes me angry - in some areas they would have had at least one free cycle of treatment - they were young-looking, fit and healthy - why shouldn't they get treated, particularly when infertility due to a medical condition? Yet in some parts of the country there are probably less deserving people that do get it?

Will be interesting to see if I get the same sonographer at my 20 wk - one couple are going to the same hospital as us and they showed their scan!

nicky6 · 17/07/2007 09:55

mrs mcj - great results you must be delighted, cant wait for my first ever appointment on thursday.

one of my good friends rang me last night she is 8 and a bit months pregnant, she doesnt know i am pregnant yet ( as forbidden by dh to tell anyone except my mum) but she rang to tell me she had had this really vivid dream that i was having twins.

Little does she know how terrified that made me - soooooo looking forward to/scared of scan on thursday.
