Morning ladies 14 weeks today for me ? where is this blooming but then?!

Hello ladies very tired today with lots of work to do but need to break myself in slowly

Gingme ? your poor DS how awful his tonsils sound . Hope you are feeling better today

Thanks Molly I knew that for my age (33) the background risk was 1:5429 or something like that so getting a higher score than that made me happy ? shame it doesn?t make me younger though! I have 3 cats to prepare for the baby ? hadn?t really thought about that ? any tips anyone? My furry babies will no doubt be a bit miffed. Merlin sounds lovely ? can?t help with the prep though, sorry!

Hey Barristermum

Goingfor3 ? that?s lovely you must be very proud! Do send the link! What a pain about that appointment hope you get it all sorted out.

Lilyloo hello, hope today is another calm day.

Hello Skibump

Naetha ? ohh can you help me on the pussy cat front then? My cats are already doing a vigil around my bed whenever I am in it and LOVE lying on my tummy so I get the hot water bottle thing! That said, do you find that they are really attentive when you are not well? Mine are, it?s odd. Hope you are feeling a lot better and recovering well. Glad your MW appointment went well how exciting to hear the heartbeat and feel a flutter how many weeks are you now? Fingers crossed for your triple test results. Have you tried Floradix, the natural iron supplement? I got it from Holland & Barratt after my MC to make sure my iron levels were good.

Hey LadyLush

MamaMaiasaura · 17/07/2007 12:13

gingeme - aww your poor ds.. only 3 At that age they dont understand why they hurt either. At least ds gets why he is poorly iykwim.

Skibump - thanks He is pretty wonderful (am soo gushy atm)

MrsMcJnr - Super Fantastic results on the blood test!!!

Re pets: we have a 3 year old lab x who still thinks he is a puppy and gets up on mine and dh's laps for a cuddle - no room there for much longer on my part! I'm sure a true puppy would be quite hectic to deal with - sacrificed a lot of shoes

I'm not worried as I have deduced in his prev life (he is a rescue dog) he must have been used to kids as he is brilliant with friends' babies and kids, so gentle.

Every morning at about 5am he gets into bed with us though, so will have to train him out of that eventually!

We used to have a v elderly cat that carked it last year, I'd be more worried about cats getting into cots and prams than a dog though I'd have to say.

Well, we'll find out if it's twins or not later today!!!!

Molly65 · 17/07/2007 13:20

Thanks for all messages about pets. I will have to read up about it. I live near Milton Keynes which is where my reflexologist is based. Reading messages reminds me I must book 15-16week midwife apt. Although I'm actually going to the JR in Oxford for my hospital appointments because I like the Women's Centre there. In fact, also want to get a private room. My sister went there and it was about £150 (I think for one night).

Can't keep up with everyone yet, but best wishes to all.

nicky6 · 17/07/2007 14:14

still no-one on our thread having twins - maybe that means the february thread have got lots coming

Naetha · 17/07/2007 15:16

Hello all

Hope your MW appt went well and you got to hear the heartbeat Awen

MrsMac - my cats have always been very affectionate, but the kitten (well, she is a year old now but still acts like a kitten!) has been very very clingy recently - quite often she'll curl up on my tummy (don't really have a bump yet!) for hours and just wants to be mothered, which I have no complaints about! I think part of it is because there is enough room for me, DH and all three cats on our new sofa now without getting in eachothers' ways, so they'll often keep us company when we're watching TV or reading when they didn't before.
They are going to have a shock closer to the time as all three of them sleep on or in the bed and really don't like it when they're shut out. I guess they'll just have to learn. We might make sure that we pamper them a bit before the LO arrives - maybe get them some special beds or something so they feel they still have their own territory.

I'm 16+4 now, and its definitely flutters I'm feeling - I really wasn't expecting to feel them so early, especially as this is my first time. I only feel them early in the morning or late at night when I'm lying down though - I guess there's too much flab in the way the rest of the time! I also felt what felt like a definite kick this morning as well - I was laying in bed on my back with hands laying on my (not quite) bump, and I felt two kicks in quick succession both on the inside and the outside, both in the same place as I felt the flutters. It was probably wind or a muscle tic or something, but I like to think they were kicks! Roll on 20 week scan!

MrsMcJnr · 17/07/2007 15:36

Angechica ? exciting waiting for that news! I know what you mean about the worry of cats getting into the baby?s cot or something

Naetha ? I know what you mean, we have an oldie of 9 and 2 young ones of 2 but I still call them the kittens! I?ll have the same issue about the bedroom ? they?ll hate being locked out but what can we do? have to protect the LO. Wow! Those feelings/sensations sound amazing!!

Good point Nicky6 ? so far we all have singletons ? how many ladies out there still waiting for their first scan?

MamaMaiasaura · 17/07/2007 16:00

Yay - back from midwife appt & collecting ds

All my bloods came back well and good. Heard babys heartbeat, she found it straight away. 150bpm (i shed a little tear ) Also heard the placenta, make a weird whooshing noise too.

Cant believe how high up womb is already up to belly button! Didnt think it would be that high at 16+ weeks. The midwife didnt seem at all concerned by it and said is normal esp being 2nd pregnancy.

Spoke to her about back she reckons is ligaments and also uterus pressure.. apparantly really common around this stage.

ladylush · 17/07/2007 16:01

Fab news awen

MamaMaiasaura · 17/07/2007 16:05

thank you xx

ladylush · 17/07/2007 16:07

gong o veg out? sprots day? I'm a bit worried about you awen

MamaMaiasaura · 17/07/2007 16:09

or should it be Gin

sprots day now cancelled. bless. At least dont have to stand around getting soaked tho.

Naetha · 17/07/2007 16:47

Gin definitely sounds like a much needed emote!!

Glad to hear everything was great Awen I wish my uterus would move up some time soon, its very much down in my pelvis and still weighing down on my bladder, which is making my existing bladder condition 9interstitial cystitis) much worse. Hopefully will move up soon so I don't need to wee every 20 minutes!

Out of curiosity, how much are people cutting out / down on alcohol? Are people drinking any?

Since I've found out, I've had one glass of red wine at a party which was absolutely lovely. I wouldn't mind the odd glass of wine now and again (I've never been much of a drinker anyway) but I'm the only wine drinker in the house, and 3/4 of the bottle would go to waste. I'm not tempted by beer or spirits at all, just a glass of red Might have one next time we go out for a meal

LilyLoo · 17/07/2007 17:06

Hello all, sorry no advice on the cat front.
Have just spent the best part of the day looking through the next sale as i got my first vip invitation this year. Have got up to £ 200 already. Some lovely maternity stuff. It starts on Sat if anyone interested.
So still no twins then
Had some news today my friend three weeks behind me has lost her baby. It's so much harder to hear isn't it when you think how easily it could be you. Am greatful to start feeling flutters too
Naetha i have to admit to having the odd glass now and then, when feeling takes me. TBH it was perfectly acceptable in my previos pg's it's only recently they said none at all, and they both turned out fine. The midwife said it is because they are researching into why so many kids have adhd now, and if there is a link to alcohol in pg. Not sure tbh that the odd glass causes any harm. So i say go for it.

barristermum · 17/07/2007 17:29

Naetha - I had a couple of quite heavy sessions on the booze before I knew I was pregnant - in like the 4th week - and I got so scared by all the literature that despite some fabulously reassuring posts from other mumsnetters I stopped completely. Having said that it is no longer for high-minded reasons, the smell of the stuff turns my stomach, which is still very easily turned - still daily vomiting sadly. Where is the blooming bit I want to know?
I reckon a little of what you fancy does you good - crucially, the change in guidelines to no alcohol was done without ANY new evidence at all! So don't beat yourself up!

goingfor3 · 17/07/2007 17:50

Hello all,

I spoke to the midwife today who told me that I haave to come in tommorow for my pre assesment, I told her I didn't want to but she said I had no choice. I really don't see the point I've had it twice before, I had my blood done on monday and I've seen the aneathetist which is more than I had the other two times!

barristermum · 17/07/2007 17:56

what'll they do if you don't go - arrest you?! How cheeky!

goingfor3 · 17/07/2007 17:57

I'm worried they might cancel the appoitment, I know it will be a total waste of time and they will just write moddy cow in big letter across my notes!

barristermum · 17/07/2007 18:06

If it was me they'd be wishing they hadn't made me and they'd have ample further evidence by the end of the appt for writing "moody cow" at the top of my notes! Poor you!

Naetha · 17/07/2007 19:13

Goingfor3: the chances are they may well cancel the operation if you don't have the pre-op assessment. Its part of covering their backs - risk assessment and all that.

If something goes wrong with the anaesthetic, and it turns out that you hadn't had a pre-op assessment, they would be wide open to be sued.

It won't take too long, so if I were you I'd just go along with it and get it over and done with

pussycatmomma · 17/07/2007 19:21

oh my gosh!!! Found you all at last! I have missed an awful lot
I dont really come on mn much any more but I just like to poke my head round the door now and again just to say Hi to all you other pregnant ladies
I dont really know you all very well as I dont chat much but wondered if someone could update my due date on the list please? I am due 24th Jan.
I have had my 12 wk scan today and all was fine (such a relief) and baby was bouncing around like he was on a trampoline! Could see him/her so clearly, was v. special. Didnt cry this time though, amazingly enough! Cried at 7 and 9 wks but was very composed this time
I am very envious of you lot getting stuck into your maternity clobber - im still just in my regular clothes and feeling like a bit of a lumpy flump, but dont really look pregnant to the untrained eye.....wish bump would hurry and start to show, i cant wait! Hope that doesnt sound too ridiculous!
Am feeling well, sickness gone, got much more energy and not nearly as tired.
If it wasnt for seeing his nibs bouncing around today, id swear there was nothing happening in there! Oh well, we are all different aren't we.
Hello to everyone and love and hugs to all.
By the way, pram info from Housemum absolutely perfect!!! She should write a weekly column for us all!!!!!!!!
xxxxxxxxxx

pussycatmomma · 17/07/2007 19:23

btw , i am 12+6 - HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gingeme · 17/07/2007 20:34

Hi pussycatmamma glad you found us. Arent scans fantastic?
I know what you mean about blooming. My hair is as greasy as anything and my chin is covered in spots. I look like my 13 year old ds. Still feeling pretty tired too. Could quite easily go for a sleep about 2pm. Luckily Ive got all my boys here to keep me busy
I think I may be feeling a few flutters too especialy first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Is anyone going to get a heartbeat monitor? I bought one off Ebay with my last pg and it was fantastic. Only use it after 20 weeks though and it does take a bit of practice. I leant it to two of my friends in the mean time and they said it was very good too. Especialy when your only seeing your mw monthly to begin with. It used to be realy funny when I had it on (it was on a belt) and baby kicked it would move laods
Anyway enough of my waffling. Glad you are well.
Take care all xxx
