Caroline- took your title to follow on the horsey theme!!

No idea what I'm having. Wanted to find out but DH didn't and as it meant we'd have had to pay for a private scan we didn't bother.
What about you?

Ok I'm fed up.

Nothing has changed in the past week. Baby no further engaged. Feels futile. All that bouncing on birth ball for nothing. I think I'm going to be pregnant for ever!

DP is still a beep head but DD is feeling 100% better. Might go and sulk in the bath this evening and avoid him. DSD birthday today. Really didn't want to go into labour today as that would have been REALLY WIERD!

Sister came up trumps and made me a hot chocolate with whipped cream to cheer me up.

agnesnitt · 24/07/2007 17:56

Beyonceen, at least you have a date for some action. I'm t+4 and am due a bog standard ante-natal on Friday but bugger all else has been said. Haven't seen a medical professional of any sort for about a fortnight, they don't seem to be all that bothered.

Myfairone · 24/07/2007 18:28

I'm so sorry to hear that so many of you that were due have gone over. Its bad enough for me and I haven't even officially hit my due date yet! (Sunday)....just have the feeling that I will be really irritated by then.

Typhoonsmum - Why not walk around the house holding your tummy and muttering to yourself. Its sure to get him wondering if you're okay. When he asks if you are just dramatically and theatrically say 'yes, I'm fine'....men hate it when you don't moan when they expect you to!!!!!

Report back to us later on!

agnesnitt · 24/07/2007 18:58

They also hate the "I'm fine!" line, they know they're in serious bother when that one crops up

keiralou · 24/07/2007 20:55

I need chocolate - arrgghhh!!!!

Last night I ate most of a box of Dairy Box that I found in the cupboard - they were almost out of date and not even that nice!!

Have arranged to see a consultant tomorrow at the hospital because I want some sort of other opinion about my situation and see if he also agrees that LO only looks an 8 to 9 pounder and also if he really thinks it's likely that I'll give birth naturally and if he thinks I should wait until Monday to be induced. Really don't want to be induced btw, think I should be running up and down stairs rather than eating chocolate...

Still haven't spoken to my mum about her not coming up for days when the baby comes. Just keep putting it off!

Where is Kyte? Has anyone heard?

Greyclay · 24/07/2007 22:07

Hello there - I haven't been a very regular poster on this thread but I have been following it regularly. For the sake of closure, I just wanted to finally report that I had my daughter, first child, on July 5 (I haven't been able to get near the computer very often!) We named her Nia (Nee-ah). I'll try to post my story in the birth announcement section as soon as I can. My husband and I are thrilled and overwhelmed...recovery and breastfeeding have been challenging. I wish all of you the best of luck as you enter the home stretch.

DivaSkyChick · 24/07/2007 23:43

Hi Ladies,

My birth story is up in birth annoucements. Long and detailed for anyone who wants to hear about a succesful home water birth of a first time mum over 40 using just hypnobirthing for pain relief!

Congrats to all who have made it this far and best wishes to those still waiting. See you in the postnatal thread when I get another chance to put her down. Like maybe in six weeks? lol!

Myfairone · 25/07/2007 01:14

Congratulations Diva, thats quite some story! Wow, no pain relief..you must be thrilled to have your little one here at last (love the name too!)

Greyclay - Huge congratulations to you too.

Keiralou - Good news on the consultant appointment. At least by having that conversation it will hopefully put your mind at rest...as for your Mum, maybe that will take care of itself (if you know what I mean)...I would try not to stress yourself out over it right now with everything else going on.

Well its 1.10am and I was woken up at 12.30 by an almighty pain in my tum/back. Think I may just have wanted to go to the loo (sorry if TMI) but now seem to be getting regular BH...going to give it a while and see how things progress...would love some more sleep though!

Myfairone · 25/07/2007 05:39

Its 5.30 and I really think I'm in labour! OMG!
Haven't been able to sleep all night and have been up with regular contractions. Called the hospital at 4am and was told to stay at home (as long I was happy to) until they either got too painful or were 3-5 minutes apart.

I am coping okay right now and just fearful that after all this they are going to stop! Although the way my back feels I really don't think they are going anywhere for now!

Hope this is it as I really want to see my LO now!!!!

typhoonsmum · 25/07/2007 09:48

Tho I'm really happy for you myfairone. Just a little bit jealous.

I'm going to be the last one here i know it.

Was thinking last night. You need to be induced b4 42 weeks. Next MW appt takes me to 40+2. My cons clinic are on Thursday which would take me to 40+4. Would probably be induced the following week at 41+?
Was meant to be induced at 41+3 with DD but went in naturally at 41+2.

So I suppose if all else fails there is still a light at the end of the tunnel. Would be week after next prob.

Dumbledorf · 25/07/2007 10:13

Hi everyone,
Am 40+ 10 today!!!!!

Well done Myfairone, hope it's good and straightforward!

Congratulations JAM!

Keiralou, and everyone else waiting, I'm so with you all! had my second sweep yesterday and also some acupuncture, and did The Business AND ate a load of poo inducing food AND did the nipple twiddling!! Anything else? Raspberry tea and had a walk and on the blummin' ball!!!! Still no baby. Feeling ok still, trying to be positive.

The mw I saw yesterday was new one, but she was totally brilliant, has about an hour with her. She booked me in for induction on saturday night - had a fight on her hands with the hospital, but she was fab, so I have about 80 something hours left to get my hb! She went through exactly what would happen at the hosp and it's not what we had planned or hoped for, but there we go. Hopefully baby will get its act together and arrive SOON!

Don't quite know what to do with myself today, am tempted to go and do big shop in asda to test the theory that you get free shopping if your waters go there!!

Good luck for today everyone

agnesnitt · 25/07/2007 11:08

typhoon, I think thee and I are going to be locking up and turning off the lights on here aren't we?

All these inconsiderate people going into labour at five thirty in the morning Good luck myfairone, hope you're back with good news soon

Dumbledorf, go to asda anyway, it's good to wander about and just poke things. Enjoy and fingers crossed you avoid the induction if you can

Today I shall mostly be avoiding leaving the house until I have to drag the daughter type to dance class.

Take care everyone

Agnes

Beyonceen · 25/07/2007 14:16

I'm still here too agnesnitt! I think it's just you, me, dumbledorf, typhoon and kieralou. Anyone else out there??

40+3 today an really feeling it.

good luck myfairone! hope this is it for you!

Beyonceen · 25/07/2007 14:19

given up on bouncing, rasp leaf tea, pineapple, sex, everything.!!! It 'll come when it jolly well wants.! Obstinate wee thing. I don't think any of these things work so we may as well put our feet up girls and coonserve energy!

Good luck myfairone!

Congrats Diva.

For those still waiting I am convinced that the raspberry leaf tablets helped make the contractions more effective and labour go quicker. I also bounced on my ball a lot and used a breast pump on the day I ended up giving birth. It seemed to do the trick as within 1/2 hour my contractions started (again) and didn't stop! Good luck everyone.

And for those of you feeling enormous, your tummy will shrink. Within two weeks my uterus was fully contracted so the mw couldn't feel it anymore - b'fing really helps. Just got to wait for the skin to shrink now and hopefully I will then be able to fit into something that isn't maternity! That'll teach me to chuck out all my clothes that were too big before I got pg!

typhoonsmum · 25/07/2007 17:39

WHY ARE WE WAITING OH WHY WHY WHY OH WHY.

Have had a massive spring clean this afternoon and without fail DP comes in and decides to fit new kitchen worktops! Why do I bother.

Do have VERY VERY mild period pains now tho.
They'll disappear when I do something else.

Have resigned myself to the fact that I will be induced the week after next ish. None of the home remedies work - but might try the breast pump thing. Can you get proper milk out now. Friend said she ate a bag of grapes and had her daughter 9 hours later. Tried that today. Munched thru the grapes at 2pm. No sign yet. The text messages have started as well

"Any sign of Junior?....."etc

MrMiaou · 25/07/2007 17:58

Well I supose I've kept you all waiting for the news long enough

miaou gave birth to a wee boy at 7.44 this morning. His name is Euan, and he weighed in at 8lb 6oz

labour sounds as though it was ok - but I wasn't there so cannot swear to it

Doubtless there will be gory details tomorrow when they come home

agnesnitt · 25/07/2007 18:27

Thanks for the update MrMiaou, congratulations on the birth of the wee boy

In other news, I actually managed to leave the house this evening. Took daughter to her last ballet/tap class of the summer. Took us an age to walk there (normally a ten minute jaunt) and even longer to get home as I stopped off to get some breakfast cereal at the shop on the way home.

I don't plan to leave the house unless I'm being driven until I've had this baby now, I am soooo tired!

keiralou · 25/07/2007 19:28

Why are we waiting, why are we waiting!!!

Good luck to Myfairone...Has there been any news from Kyte?

Quick update: saw a consultant today. She seems to think that the baby doesn't seem too big, but is definitely lying on its side on the left. She attempted another sweep (I had one on Monday) but again couldn't reach my cervix - not for want of trying, God it was painful!!!

So have been booked in to be induced on Monday. Tbh didn't really want it to be induced earlier because I might - just might - go into labour naturally and also because I don't want to hang around in the hospital any longer than I have to IYSWIM.

Have started my routine of running up and down the stairs as much as I can bear ( this worked for me last time). Am also planning a hot curry on Fri and a bit of nookie whenever fit it in! Only trouble is I feel absolutely gross and unattractive.

lynnec · 25/07/2007 19:41

keiralou, im just about to start running up and downstairs...been working about the garden the last hour and out of the blue came quite sore pains, tightings on the lower back and stomache, had this for 30 mins then started hoovering the stairs once i bent over the pain disappeared i dont know if this is just bh????or contractions????? Its been 13 years since my last pg so have no idea.I'll see how i get on with the up and down the stairs I'll keep you all informed. Hope everyone else is doing well. x

agnesnitt · 25/07/2007 20:03

Best of luck with the stairs. I can barely manage it these days so I tend to plan things as much as I can so I do it as infrequently as possible

Pondering putting a dvd on later and kneeling on the floor leaning against the footstool rocking my hips for a bit. If anything it'll stop my hips hurting.
