Caroline- took your title to follow on the horsey theme!!

No idea what I'm having. Wanted to find out but DH didn't and as it meant we'd have had to pay for a private scan we didn't bother.
What about you?

Think that things like eating pineapple, hot curries and castor oil are just examples of making you poo.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 17/07/2007 17:49

nipple stimulation
hot food
sweep
sex with fella for semen
diy above for uterine contractions
lots of walking

tiggsy · 17/07/2007 17:51

and giving you terrible heartburn, and a burning mouth with the pineapple. my friend was eating about 5 a day and her lo went over a week overdue!
we've got tons of baby wipes etc but going to wait and see how sensitive baby really is.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 17/07/2007 18:17

Kyte - have they told you how over you are allowed to go and still have a home 'confinement'? I'm allowed up to 14 days over.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 17/07/2007 18:19

And we don't need any more heartburn now do we? Am afraid to ask for more gaviscon. Am on Superdrug fruit flavoured antacids to eek the last of my gaviscon out which I'm only using at night now. I'm only on my 5th bottle, but I've dispensed it to some ladies on a weekly basis for weeks on end.

Tutter · 17/07/2007 18:31

not sure why i said i was due saturday (below) - wishful thinking - it's sunday

anyway, had accupressure/reflexology today - am hoping it does the trick (did with ds1). have been feeling nauseous since but nothing else

ds1 was born 39+4 - am 39+2 today...

Myfairone · 17/07/2007 19:38

Evening all!

I have been having really strong BH today! They have been taking my breath! Could this be a sign? Mmmm, I wonder! Probably still be here this time next week but nice to think that something is happening

Tiggsy - Thats not a bad present!!!!

Well I went to Ford and a very very nice man tried to fit my car seat (he had been a one week course on how to fit them...) and informed me my back seat belts are not long enough (car is old) but did tell me I could buy an extension.
Managed to find one on Ebay and for £14 I can now safely put my baby in the back! I am ridiculously happy that this is now fixed and thanks to whoever it was that said we need to practice putting the car seats in the car!

Hope everyone has a great night and for anyone feeling any pains, hope that all is well and that things go smoothly.

Hugs to all.

Just thought I would say a quick hello again.

Thank you for your lovely congratulations and congratulations also to Dewmeadow and Bodkin.

I didn't mean labour to sound so easy, I think I was on a high when I wrote my message because I had a VBAC! Giving birth was miles better than I thought though, except for the pushing, as I had a bad time first time around. I did lose it at one point because I had been pushing for so long (1.5hrs)and couldn't see an end, I was actually quite shocked that Madeleine came out in the end. A very firm midwife told me off and I was back on track again-which is what I needed.

Now my nipples are on fire (oh dear not again) and my backside feels like...well, I've had an episiotomy I guess- I won't go into details!

I am looking forward to hearing of more birth stories. Are any of you carrying on on another thread afterwards?

I hope things happen soon for you, the waiting is hard as I was late, but how worth it will be when you hold your baby and I've ALMOST forgotten the pain already! xx

twoplusone · 17/07/2007 20:24

Update.. contractions every 5-7 mins lasting 35-45 secs..
hopefully they will keep going this time.. have been like this for last 1hr and a bit...

fingers crossed...legs spread open

JennsterSlugSlayer · 17/07/2007 21:25

Goodluck 2+1.

Myfairone · 17/07/2007 22:06

Chrissybobs - Its so nice to hear you got the birth you wanted and you had every right to be on a high!

Twoplusone - Wooohooooo! Go girl! Hope that DH is home with you (I don't remember you mentioning he was doing anything tonight!) Good luck and keep us informed

Chooster · 17/07/2007 22:20

Hi everyone - Sorry for my delayed update but I've jumped up the list! Theo Henry was born on the 13th July (Is he the only Friday 13th baby?!) at 3.56pm weighing 8lbs 1oz.

I'd been to the mid-wife on Thursday afternoon to be told he was only 1/5 engaged and nothing looked imminent. So DH and I stayed up late watching a film and hadn't been in bed long when waters broke at 1.15am ish. As I have Group B Strep I needed IV anti-bio's so off we went to the hospital... Contractions were regular but not really having much effect. I had to stay at the hospital because of the anti-biotics and by 11am I was still only 3cm dilated. So it was going to be Syntocin for me again to hurry things along. I had syntocin with DS1 and managed without an epidural but couldn't face it again as the syntocin made it a harder labour (for me anyway). So I had an epidural and it was fantastic. I could still feel the contractions and I have to say the whole experience of pushing him out was amazing! I felt so in control.

The next bit went a bit astray as the placenta was stuck and as I was bleeding I was taken to theatre to have it manually removed. Sadly I wasn't with Theo for the first couple of hours, but we've made up for it since.

Overall a fantastic experience - He is such an absolute angel and despite a few initial problems with his feeding he's now doing really well.

I haven't really had a chance to catch up but good luck to those who are starting to feel some twinges Its all so exciting

Good luck!

Myfairone · 17/07/2007 22:35

Oh Chooster - Huge congratulations. I am absolutely thrilled for you! So pleased you felt in control...well done!
Sorry to hear about the placenta problem afterwards but glad to hear you are making up your time with him now.

Well done and make sure you get plenty of rest now!

Miaou · 17/07/2007 22:39

The water is back on. No further drips over night.

Might even attempt washing some towels that have been used to moppp up spills and now beginning to smell.

morning all- congrats chooster! 27years old, baby will be here this time next week and i'm having coco pops for breakfast!! pregnancy is such a good excuse...

Myfairone · 18/07/2007 08:38

Typhoonsmum - Excellent news on the water..Makes you appreciate it when it works again doesn't it!? Don't go overdoing it with the washing machine though!

Tiggsy - Sounds like a great breakfast feast! Hope you still have your Barbie pj's on too!

Firststar - get in practice with the car seat...

I slept like cr*p last night
Think I'm just going to take it easy today. Nothing to really rush around for and after all my weird dreams of childbirth last night I am exhausted!
Anyone else wake up thinking they are having contractions, just to find all you need to do is pee?

Big hugs to all and I'm guessing that Twoplusone is going to be our labouring lady of today.. Hope all is well girl, keep pushing!

tiggsy · 18/07/2007 08:39

myfairone-close... miffy nightie!!

Myfairone · 18/07/2007 09:08

Tiggsy - Beats my 'ohhh laaa laaa' pj's from primark hands down!

tiggsy · 18/07/2007 09:33

talking of primark... GRRRR... dp bought himself some socks from there the other day.
now i'm having to hoover out my washing machine, my utilty room looks like someones massacred a herd of black sheep and if he ever gets lost in our flat there's a nice black fluff pathway from one end to the other!!

Myfairone · 18/07/2007 09:55

Tiggsy - Laughing out loud. My Dh had the same problem with socks but I dont think they were primark...soooo annoying!

He left little piles of fluff on the living room carpet where he had sat and insisted on rubbing his feet over the floor!

Just received an email from a friend detailing another friends labour....why do some people not use their head? I personally would have omitted half of the gory/horror stories and just kept it plain and simple...baby has been born, Mum had a hard time but both are well....how hard would that have been!? grrrrrrrr.....

We are all different are we not!
