@Kyles I had my 20 week yesterday too, had to have a walk part way through cause baby was head down so she couldn't check the brain til it moved 😂 I also have my placenta a little close to the cervix so will have to go back at 32 weeks as well but nust happy I get to see baby again!

Haven't had any bh but been getting really horribly itchy hands and feet which I saw can be linked to ICP and problems with liver (normally later in pregnancy) so they took blood to check for that just in case

Agree with everyone else, not too much if you can easily get to a supermarket for basics. We bought about 10 vests and babygrows in newborn/first size then DD was too big for them. I'd washed them all so couldn't take them back.

If you buy stuff too big they'll grow in to it

If you buy it too small well thats that isnt it lol

kyles101 · 16/04/2019 09:43

Ah that's what I thought @AnnieAR good excuse to have another look! The walk didn't help me, bubs promptly turned its back on us and curled into a little ball after the walk. It was so well timed it had the sonographer in stitches!

I'm with the ladies who are of the baby will grow into things camp... probably because my mother was a firm fan of this - think age 5 school clothes that would last me til secondary!!

AnnieAR · 16/04/2019 09:49

@Kyles, they're cheeky little buggers 😂😂 ours kept wriggling about! Just hoping the placenta moves so I can have a home birth 🤞

Megan2018 · 16/04/2019 09:56

I'm going to buy cheap supermarket packs of sleepsuits and vests only in First Size/Newborn, up to 1 month and 0-3 (I've been told Asda is best). I'll wash some of the smaller sizes but not all - I don't think any baby is going to die if they get put in to unwashed clothes in an emergency.

I'm going to work on getting approx 9 in each size (as they seem to largely come in packs of 3) as a starter - then that way I should get away with 3 days worth of clothes before washing in whatever size they start in.

Anything washed but unworn can be given away - if they are only about £7 a pack I won't worry. I'll buy some nicer bits and pieces in 0-3 as I think that size is pretty much used by all babies at some point?

But going to hang on until I get some rough indicator of how big or how small she is. I was 5lb, DH was 10!

We don't have shops nearby (our nearest supermarkets are small and don't sell clothes) but I do have a NEXT unlimited account so can get free next day delivery on things from there easily. The sleepless nights in the early days can be put to use with more online shopping too!

boodles101 · 16/04/2019 10:14

I'm going to hang on to buy babygrows. I'll get more scans and estimated weights so I'll buy some then. I know they can be out slightly but expecting the twins to be on the small side. DS was 8lb2 so I have plenty of unisex 0-3months saved and my mum already bought 1 pack of first size cos she was too excited.

AnnieAR · 16/04/2019 10:16

I got some nice long sleeved vests in lidl in 0-2 months and they were £5.99 for 5 lovely and soft too, they should still have them in if anyonewants to grab some... Either black, grey and cream or mint and cream/white sets

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/04/2019 10:59

Im not personally a fan of long sleeved vests unless for under dungarees etc. Keeping sleeves on a vest down into the sleeves of a sleepsuit can be a pain

AnnieAR · 16/04/2019 11:12

I know what you mean @IVEgot they can be tricky but since I'm due at the start of sept if it's still hot/baby is early then they might come in handy to use without a babygrow - especially if baby ends up like my OH and is constanty too hot 😅

kyles101 · 16/04/2019 12:38

I know - September is such a rubbish month for planning clothes - it could be boiling hot or freezing cold!!

Megan2018 · 16/04/2019 12:46

It is really tempting to buy clothes now, I am having to sit on my hands!
But I figure once Summer starts we'll have an indication of how it might pan out weather wise. I'll be astonished if we have 2 really good Summers in a row though.
But September has been nice pretty often - my late Grandmother's birthday was 18 Sept and it was almost always nice and sunny for her.
It is the same conundrum with grosnug weights. Light or Cosy? Who knows!

Bunnymummy89 · 16/04/2019 13:05

Feel like I can join in with the clothes chat now I've had a sneaky listen and know baby's alive and kicking in there! My mum visited yesterday and brought with her a huuuge bag of clothes given to her by a colleague of hers. Mix of tiny baby to 3-6 months. Good range of different things in each size. Some are so small I couldn't believe any baby was ever that tiny and some were quite alarming thinking I might have to push something out that's that big! But at least I have a selection for all possibilities (they had a mix of very premature babies to 10 pounders!). I'll wait til after the birth to see if need more of anything :)

TwittleBee · 16/04/2019 13:12

I've always taken the attitude to go light with bedding as babies can easily over heat and it's easier to the layer up/down accordingly.

Saying that... DS still doesn't like anything thick on him so still layering him up now at nearly 2 years old so perhaps we got him in an ad habit 🤔

TheCraicDealer · 16/04/2019 13:22

I'm getting a pile of handmedowns from DNeice who was born on 06 Oct (I'm due 25 September) so in theory I already have lots of 0-3, 3-6 months including Christmas outfits Hmm half the stuff I bought her so it's all my taste anyway! Not much in the way of basics as they all got worn and washed to death and few survived intact.

Aside from that I'm trying to buy a few bundlers from Marksies for under her grosnug for nighttime changes, plus zipper onesies for the same reason, probably all 0-3m- I can always roll up the sleeves. Anything to make changing nappies at 3am easier is worth it for me, but both items aren't that easy to come by.

I got a few sets of supersoft autograph short sleeved vests in up to 1 month and 0-3m from M&S when they had their last 20% off sparks event on- brought them down to a reasonable price. Sainsburys have some lovely patterns in at the moment in vests and onesies, so I might get a few sets of those too.

I can't really predict what weight this one will be- I was 5lb odd, but a twin so not really indicative, and DH was 6lb 6 but induced a few weeks early. DMum, DDad and my sister's two were all 7lb or so, so I'm thinking maybe around that mark.

boodles101 · 16/04/2019 13:41

I'm struggling today. DS got up at 4.30 again, I've tired him out in the garden all morning, put him down for his nap so I could rest myself and he woke after 20 mins :'( just had a cry to myself as I've no idea how I'm going to cope with 3 kids that don't sleep! Any tips on getting my son to actually go back to sleep? He's exhausted but just won't give in to it!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 16/04/2019 14:03

Just had my 16 week appt and heard the heartbeat 😁 I have loads of clothes from my DD but gave away everything neutral to friends who had boys so will have to wait until 20 weeks before I know whether to get anything else! If I do need it I shall be searching for eBay bundles

DustyDoorframes · 16/04/2019 14:03

Ugh @boodles101 I feel your pain!
My two were doing so well this morning, and are now needling each other and wailing. Why do I think I will be able to handle three???
boodle can you conk out together for a CBeebies overdose? Or what used to work with DS at that stage was snuggling down in front of some really dull sport (eg golf, snooker.) and he'd zone out and sometimes sleep. Telly was a rare thing so he was delighted but also very very bored...

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 16/04/2019 14:04

@boodles101 sorry it's tough! How old is DS?

boodles101 · 16/04/2019 14:09

He's 2y3m. He will happily sit and watch cbeebies but just won't give in and fall asleep!

DustyDoorframes · 16/04/2019 14:16

I think sometimes when they are beginning to drop their nap the best you are going to get is a quiet time, and early bed. Will he go off in the pushchair/car? I'd prioritise something that lets you zone out for a bit, even if that's a doze with CBeebies (when at least you know there's not going to be an inappropriate ad when you're not paying attention...)

TheCraicDealer · 16/04/2019 14:17

Can you trick him into lying in a reclined position with a blanket over him to watch telly? He might drop off then. This occasionally works on my 33 year old husband when he's overtired.

DustyDoorframes · 16/04/2019 14:21

@TheCraicDealer snurk...

GemmaJen · 16/04/2019 14:22

@TheCraicDealer we picked up some zippered onesies and nightgowns when we were in the states, they're so common over there, but not seen anything similar here.

I've no idea what size ours will be, I was 10lb, DH 6lb but both very long, so I don't expect newborn to fit for long even if little one comes early.

kyles101 · 16/04/2019 14:25

@TheCraicDealer it must be a 33 year old thing - this has been known to work on me
